Sometimes there's even some dog sightings and babies. 12/10 would recommend.

I have always wanted to try Pilates on a reformer. I have taken previous Pilates classes before,…read morebut it was all on a yoga mat and mainly on core. So when the Club Pilates opened in the Rotunda, I decided to give them a try. They offer free intro classes for new members to learn the basics of Pilates, from proper alignment, how to utilize the reformer and proper form. My instructor Jalen was very informative and helpful during our session, if she noticed you were not doing a move correctly she would adjust you, or if you have slight injuries, she would show you modifications. They do offer various package deals for their classes, or if you want to drop in from time to time, the classes are currently $25 per class. I would definitely return, the staff are very nice and accomadating

If you have never tried Reformer Pilates before, I highly recommend rushing to sign up for a class!…read moreLast night, at the invitation of Yelp, I attended my first Reformer Pilates session at The Village Well Baltimore. The Village Well Baltimore is a very charming and clean studio, and the instructor is extremely motivating. There were some really cheerful products in the retail area, so I bought myself a pair of socks... Right now, my muscles feel as though they've had a massage; I'm experiencing a pleasant soreness and can really feel that my muscles have been worked. So, what exactly is Reformer Pilates? What makes it different, and what are its benefits? Essentially, it is a Pilates method that utilizes specialized equipment. Built around a unique spring-based mechanism, the Reformer machine works muscles in a versatile way and is suitable for individuals at any fitness level. Fundamentally, it promotes body flexibility, engages all muscle groups, improves balance, and facilitates fat burning. It aims to alleviate muscle, joint, and back pain while enhancing flexibility and coordination. It helps reduce spinal issues, strengthens the pelvic floor muscles, and tones and shapes the body. It increases muscle density and improves mobility, helping to prevent pain in the shoulders, back, and lower back. It engages sluggish lower abdominal muscles, boosts concentration, and regulates breathing rhythms. It also corrects posture and issues like slouching. In short, you notice your muscles working from the very first session, and with continued practice, you can see the body toning and lengthening. By the way, did you know that Reformer Pilates was originally developed by Joseph Pilates during World War I to aid in the rehabilitation and recovery of soldiers?

Ita located in the circle area by Raw Juice. I could see parking to be a hassle as its tight. The gym is below apartments and surrounded by other shops. Once I walked in, I was greeted and as I am accustom to a norm of being provided with a towel or 2; I asked as I was provided and was told they dont provide them at this location. I then asked the direction of the locker room for women as this was my first time at this location. This is definitely new and updated compared to Reisterstown location but smaller then Padonia. I went to the locker room, changed out to gym fit and browsed the place to adjust for working out. Unfortunately, my brain didnt adjust well as thete arent towels nor mats. Its pretty small, and split level with stair master/treadmull and other machinery of the sort upstairs. The gym presented clean throughout as well as quiet. Im not sure if its due to it being 2pm. Needless to say, I did not workout as this gym is minimal with what Im use to receiving and wasnt prepared for this gym without the towels and mats I would probably only come if the others closed for whatever reason. So with that being said, I personally will continue wirking out at Reisterstown or Padonia locations.

So I recently quit my old gym and decided to sign up for Brick Bodies again. The facility is small…read morebut well maintained with a decently equipped weight room and tons of treadmills, stair masters, and ellipticals. One of my biggest complaints about my old gym was that it didn't have nearly enough treadmills for the size of the facility so I was often waiting for someone to leave at peak hours. This has never been an issue at Brick Bodies. I also love that the cycling room is typically open and available for use even if there's no class going on. The locker rooms are oftentimes clean and I love the lockers with built in locks -- no need to bring your own! I don't do any of the classes here anymore (mainly because I'm also a CorePower member and prefer their classes) but they offer a wide array for different skill levels. I took one barre class here but wasn't a fan of the instructor and the pace of the class wasn't intense enough for me. I would love to see towel service be introduced here. When I joined back in 2021 I thought the lack of towels was a Covid-era, thing but fast forward to 2026 and they still don't provide any. It's $50 a month ($25 every two weeks) making it a more affordable option compared to my previous gym.

It's hard to find good gyms that challenge you, but Reflex is a great starting point for beginners and challenging enough for athletes looking to get back in the swing of things. Every trainer knows what they're doing so you'll always have a great workout, and being able to use equipment while classes aren't going on is a plus. There's also a second floor with equipment and a sauna! As long as I'm in Maryland, this will be my gym home.

From the instructors to fellow members, the atmosphere is just so welcoming and non-judgemental. Becoming a regular and being greeted by name seriously makes my week! My favorite instructors and classes are the following: C2 with Leah - you can tell she puts so much intention behind her flows. She often starts with a brief excerpt at the beginning of class and I'm not sure if she finds them somewhere or writes them herself, but they are always concise and meaningful and her voice is SO soothing. I love her careful and supportive assists throughout class. C2 and yoga sculpt with Payton - her classes are always challenging but in a good way. I feel stronger and more energized afterwards. She gives you time to play and try out more advanced poses. We recently tried flying splits which I would've never attempted on my own! Yoga sculpt with Eliya - Eliya's playlists are always on point! Her classes are challenging and fun. I always get such a great sweat in and I love her vibe. I look forward to her 4:30pm Friday sculpt all week! C2 with Eleanor - Eleanor does a great job queuing poses and helping you make adjustments without even needing to do hands-on assists. Her flows are often really creative and fun. I'm also a big fan of the CSX classes but just don't find as much time in my schedule to give them a go. Kira and Hayden are both great CSX teachers! Beyond the classes and the people, I can confidently say I've seen a transformation in both my practice and my body. I've gotten stronger, more balanced, and grounded as a result. I'm able to do poses and expressions that I used to struggle with and my chaturanga is the strongest it's ever been!

These days, with a nine-month-old and an ever-busier career - plus, let's face it, some pregnancy weight to shed - I can afford myself no such luxury. Fitting some kind of workout in has become a key part of keeping (minimally) sane. At the same time, I am just not up for a self-abusive exercise regimen; struggle to hold myself accountable to a solo routine; get annoyed with the mind-body aspects of yoga that I'm supposed to be loving; and find swimming gross in the winter. What's a fickle and exhausted 30-something to do? Enter: The Bar Method. I will not tell a lie, I originally referred to this place as the "rich housewife workout studio." I thought I was signing up for a room full of teensy tiny, Range Rover-driving women comparing diamond rings and Lululemon pants, among whom I'd feel alienated within ten minutes. (No offense to Lululemon pants. I wear them too.) I was surprised and delighted to find that the studio is mostly full of other busy professionals who have finally found something that "sticks," and have decided, as I have, that the investment in an effective but low-impact workout is worth it. Is there a slight culture of uniformity? I mean, sure, it's a franchise. But the owner, Ally, has made The Bar Method - Baltimore a genuinely welcoming and supportive space, and the trade-off of subscribing to the Bar Method brand is that her facility is top-of-the-line, sparkling clean, and calming from the moment you walk in. I have gone regularly with a couple of longer breaks (two weeks and about a month, respectively), and I am seeing results. I have *ridges* starting to show on my stomach, ladies! The Bar Method is not cardio intensive, and I would love to see more of the "Bar Move" class - a fusion of dance and the traditional isolation moves - that they've recently introduced. On the whole, though, I've been spoiled, and I'm not about to work out anywhere else, anytime soon.
