A wonderful family-run business where I've been getting great results. Always spotless clean, punctual and friendly. The mother-daughter duo at the helm run the place with an air of joyful service. They love women feeling good in their bodies. Scrupulously honest--once I left my wallet by accident, including an above average amount of cash (by my personal standards.) The owner called me and patiently waited after-hours, until I could make it back to the studio to pick it up, its contents fully intact. I just can't say enough! I read some of the reviews about being new and lack of instructions, I disagree. While it does take a minute to get the hang of classes, the instructors are so good at what they do. They walk around the class helping clients and making needed adjustments. Truly all the instructors are helpful, engaging, and dedicated. I'm so thrilled I found this type of workout because I'm prone to injuries these days. As an athlete I've been dealing with a torn meniscus and had stopped working out for fear of tearing it again. These classes offer everything PT has to offer and what I really appreciate is that the movements in some classes are slow enough that it allows me to be in the correct form. Even when I tweaked my knee outside of class I was able to continue taking classes. I've never been able to do that in other workout modalities! My body is definitely changing, it's becoming more lean and strong in places I didn't even know existed. As I said, I can't say enough, from the welcoming of Mill Valley's PB owner Nina, to all the fabulous instructors, a kickass workout that helps not hurts, I'm all in!! read more

This PB is a great place for a great workout! If you've never done PURE BARRE as a workout, this is a MUST-try! The workout works out muscles you never knew you had. It is body transformation at its best. And it does work! You have to stick with it and be *consistent*. There's been a change in ownership at this particular studio and things -such as employee relations- are much-improved as they continue to strive for excellence. And by that I mean they've come a long way and continue to improve in order to make my workout a great part of my daily life. Making space in my daily routine for my well-being is so important and this studio is personable and make a point to get to know me as a person/friend, walking in. They offer "specialty" classes like "stretch & restore" which I'm excited to try out (it's fairly 'recent'). They try to care for the entire female body (they have a Squatty Potty in the bathroom, assisting your pelvic floor muscles!) while also being very male-friendly (yes, I've seen guys in class here and it's fabulous! ....one day the *men* will truly realize the fantastic shape they can get into just with Pure Barre, but I digress). This studio also has great instructors. All I've met are super friendly and each has their own library of knowledge from the workout to your body (female OR male!)! If you try it & stick with it, you will revive your body and transform it -membership is best for consistency & they have differing price points. I'm beginning to feel the difference and I've also seen the women, men who've continued with PBMV and have transformed *their* bodies ....so I have goals to reach :) Also. If there's a question someone there doesn't have an answer to, don't be surprised if you receive the answer within a day or 2, they are that helpful! They really do their best to be so helpful. If you live in the area and want a great workout with positive results, fantastic staff for wonderful support, and a connection to your body you never thought you could have....this is the place for you!!!! read more

I have tried Bar Method and Dailey Method in the past but never felt that I would keep it up on a regular basis. I am a competitive runner and run at least fifty miles a week. I love running. Obsessively. I needed to do something that would keep me injury free for running. I did crossfit, yoga, and nothing helped my running. I showed up to a Pure Barre class and I swear to the good Lord above I have never hurt so much in one hour. I almost wished I was running a marathon because it hurt less than one PB class. I am so addicted to PB. It hurts, but it is so worth it. Meg is an amazing teacher, I can't recommend her classes enough! Go and check out a class. Everyone is super nice, and you leave the studio smiling. They also seem to run great deals for classes pretty often which helps to make it affordable. My one and only wish is that they offered more 4:20/5:30 classes during the week. read more

As a person who would rather read a book than take an exercise class--who wishes that walking the dog would take care of fitness requirements--who has attempted to stick with any number of exercise regimes over the years and dropped them all--I can report that there's something about Pure Barre Marin that makes me keep with it. It's partly the instructors, who are so warm and conscientious. They know my name and give me encouragement in every class and quietly let me know when I'm not quite getting it right. It's partly that they hold a class at the crazy hour of 6:15 a.m. so that I go first thing and don't have to try and fit it in to the day. The class itself is a great mix of predictable and new. You know what order you'll work in but you never know which exercises you'll do, and neither do your muscles; so they never get totally used to the workout. It's partly that I really have regained strength, tone, and a waist. I feel like myself if I go to class, and I feel as if I'm turning into a creaky mushy stiff version of myself if I don't. I don't always like the music. But it changes all the time so I'm not stuck with anything and I'm also exposed to new songs and artists that I like. The instructors have created a positive, motivating, and understanding community and they are very inspiring. They also hold seasonal sales that make it a good deal and are further encouragement to go regularly. I totally recommend Pure Barre Marin! read more

I have been to other barre classes and this is definitely one of my favorites. The 1 hour class literally FLIES by and the instructors are so sweet and good at what they do. Not to mention they ALWAYS make an effort to know your name and remember it, which I really appreciate. Try the new client special of 1 month unlimited for $99 and you will soon become obsessed...and your body will thank you! I literally have withdrawals if I don't go for a day or two. To those who say the music is too loud...it honestly isn't even that loud..and I think it really adds to the class. The instructors also lower the volume as they give instruction which is helpful. Needless to say, I'm obsessed. I joined with the "New Client Special" and went 23/31 days in October. I have lost 3 inches off my thighs, 2 off my hips/stomach and am so much stronger in some muscles I forgot I had! The women who work/run this studio are incredibly nice, friendly and open. I signed up for introduction package and I was given no instruction. One of the first classes the instructor told the class to use weights while doing the class and I injured my knee. They have no levels to the classes they ofter. I've been working out for almost 30 years so this wasn't due to not being in shape. When starting out and doing something new the instructor and staff should give instruction instead of just send you into a class. I wasn't told I needed to wear special socks either and had to leave the class to go buy some socks. After the injury I didn't go back and they never refunded my money. read more

This place is the best! I started doing barre classes back in 2011 and started with Bar Method but made the switch to PB in the fall of 2012. I was hooked after one class pretty much because of the warm up... at PB its intense and really gets your heart rate going and then it stays up the rest of class :) which overall makes it a much better workout. I don't even go to a gym anymore it's too boring! This work out works all the areas females want to work on and results do show pretty fast if you keep it up. I also like that you get muscle without bulking up. The instructors are super friendly and helpful, playlists are usually pretty good so you will definitely want to make the trips part of your weekly routine! Don't hesitate to ask questions before or after to perfect your technique. You get more out of it if you are doing it right! They do correct you during class but keep in mind there could be 10+ other people taking class. Meg the owner is awesome, she has done an amazing job bringing PB to Marin! The whole staff is awesome and makes an effort to know everyone. This place is definitely worth a try and worth the $$! read more

I've been to most Barre Style Classes in San Francisco, Marin and New York. I see huge results from this type of exercise. That said, I feel qualified to make a statement about this studio - Marin Pure Barre gets it "right" they have the best customer service I've seen. The studio is super, clean and the classes are top notch. As they opened the studio they started with basic classes and have pushed the students and themselves to take it up a notch. I love the staff and the owner ensures that things are taken care of. The front desk always greets people with a genuine welcome. I'd recommend trying it if you have not - $99 all you can tuck in a month. You will see results! read more

I have been doing dailey method and bar method classes for many years and was open to pure barre but am beyond disappointed. The good: the studio is clean. The staff is nice. The bad: the staff is a nice bunch of college girls that don't know anything about teaching a class how to safely exercise and don't seem to care. There are almost no modifications and the two instructors I had, while both very nice, seemed very bored teaching and could not be bothered to correct clients, some whom were doing the exercises incorrectly, which is dangerous and not effective The music is very loud and not even good music. Pure Barre does not compare to Dailey or Bar Method, because the classes are so poorly taught and the instructors don't seem to care. They should be teaching a high school aerobics class. Also, why do't they have a water cooler?? Do they really want us to buy bottled water. The potential to improve is there, please figure it out. read more

Ok, I took a few kick butt classes with them. They are so great. I love the owner and the fact the instructors will take time to work with you if you have a injury. NOW, this review is NOT about classes or instructors, this review is about clothing and employee relations. I came here on a Thursday evening in October. I saw some cool work out pants and leggings on sale. I thought I would try a few pair on. I couldn't figure out the size, neither could the girl who was working, so I thought I would try them on. AS I was trying on the pants in the dressing room, which there is only one of, people were coming in and out of Pure Barre. One woman I heard was interested in trying on some clothes. I then overheard the girl behind the counter, the employee, say "there is only one dressing room and an older lady is trying on come pants" Why how interesting, she was referring to me. Lets just say, to say "older woman" is a bit of a slap. Not knowing the age of the girl behind the counter, I would say her ignorance doesnt look good for Pure Barre. Just putting it out there. Wow - what a great workout, atmosphere, energy, instructors, and studio! I'm more of a runner/triathlete but I've found that pairing Pure Barre with my current exercise regimen is a great way to mix things up, challenge my body, and (most importantly) see the change I'm after! The best thing about the class is that, no matter your fitness level, anyone/everyone can do it! I've gone to classes with my Mom and her friends, and we all leave the studio with great workouts - the ability to work at your own comfort level is great! I've been to both Daily/Bar Method before, and found them way to dull for me. After leaving both their classes, I felt like I needed to go for a brisk walk or run just to get some type of workout in! Not with PB, I'm shaking, working up a sweat, and have really seen the results - after going twice a week for about a month. Last but not least, I find the location really great. It's right off the 101, and I often duck into Safeway (which it shares the complex with) or Starbucks right after class to tackle my errands ... or if I'm feeling like some retail therapy I can walk over to Athleta! All in all, I love the studio, the owner (Meg) is fantastic, and hope to see you all there to Lift, Tone, & Burn! read more

I attended the Pure Barre class for the first time today and I loved it. It's located at the back end of the Strawberry Village shopping center behind the Thep Lela restaurant. They have cubbies to store your items. Make sure to bring socks they are required. This class uses a combination of yoga poses, tension band and barre techniques. It is a full body workout that utilizes your own body weight with the option to add free weights to your routine. read more

Great customer service, fast-paced but do-able workout for most types. Studio appears clean and new. During the class, an employee comes through and adds/takes away props so that you don't have to trip over them when you are done with each prop-- really nice touch! Highly recommended. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Pure Barre Marin. First, the workout is absolutely awesome. In 60 minutes I have worked every muscle of my body to the point of fatigue, and have stretched all major muscle groups. I leave feeling refreshed, stronger and calmer. I have also tried Bar Method and the Dailey Method, and while both are good workouts, I personally really prefer Pure Barre. The music is awesome, and the exercises change frequently enough that I never find my thoughts wondering when class will end- I'm too busy concentrating! And perhaps most importantly, the staff is beyond nice. Though like other bar classes they have a cancellation policy, the staff has been really flexible and I didn't lose a class when I was late due to being stuck in traffic. Meg Elliot of Pure Barre Marin knows what she is doing and she does it very well. Her instructors are well-trained and top notch, and I have never had a bad class since I began in July. The classes are almost like group personal training and they check your posture, alignment and technique throughout the entire class. If you are "doing it wrong" (everyone's biggest fear), they will gently move your body into the correct position; and, they are always available afterwards for questions. It's impeccably clean. I am in love. I got the sign up special, 99 for the first month. I mentally committed that no matter what I was going to see it through. I normally just quit stuff and while I love to hike, working out is not my thing. This is actually my first fitness class EVER. I have been doing 5 x's a week for the last three weeks. The results are truly remarkable. I am getting visible changes and firmness. I feel so proud of myself and I am driven to go. Now, this does not mean it is easy. It isn't. My body burns, I pray for it to end, whimpering may be involved, and I may or may not send silent curses to the instructors, however I feel fantastic afterwards and I look forward to it before I go. The instructors are wonderful and patient. The other women are a wide range. Of course the perfect ones who seem to have no trouble and then many like many like me that are just normal women trying to do something good for themselves. Don't be intimidated by the first class. It is a lot and you may feel lost. It all comes together and ask questions after. The instructors will help you fine tune. read more

As the token guy who attends class I can say that this workout can be for everyone. Its a completely different workout than weight lifting and for what I am wanting is more effective at toning and lengthen muscles. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They are always willing to help me out with payment plans to work with my unusual schedule. I would recommend this class to anyone looking for a great workout. Just took my first class at the newly-opened Pure Barre in Strawberry and I loved it. The facilities are beautiful and bright, and it is much more conveniently located to Tiburon, Sausalito, and Mill Valley than either Dailey Method or Bar Method. Granted, I had previously only taken about a dozen Dailey Method classes, but I just found Pure Barre to be more enjoyable. It was easier to follow and the music was much better. It moves at a slightly faster pace, and positions are not held for as long. Because it is so new, there is not the intimidation factor of being "the one new student". The instructor Charlotte Nehm was great and did a good amount of correcting without being a tyrant about singling people out for having the wrong form, if you know what I mean. I've just been to Meg's Pure Barre class and it was fab. I am totally unfit and overweight after having three kids so this was a big step for me. Although I found it hard work, I really felt I was building strength and toning up and burning fat. Also, it was ideal for me as long-term foot and ankle problems mean I can't do 'jump around' classes - none of that here. Finally, Meg was really warm and friendly and paid a lot of attention to each individual to make sure we were doing it right. read more

I have been taking PB classes for a year...and I cannot believe the difference it has made in my life...even on the ski slopes! That's right. I went skiing over the holidays and I felt amazing..and skied better than I have in years. Even my husband and daughter noticed. It is all because I now have a much more solid core. After trying the competition, I started Pure Barre Marin in February and immediately became hooked on their friendly, results-oriented, fast-paced classes. Meg, the owner, is a fabulous, welcoming, energetic and enthusiastic instructor. I love Pure Barre! The workouts are kickass amazing! My body has changed a lot in a very positive way since I started classes almost 2 years ago. I have a lot of all around body strength that I did not have before. My back issues are almost completely gone now that my core is so much stronger. I go to class two to four times a week and just love it. You feel fatigued yet energized when done with a class. The instructions are all wonderful. The facility is beautiful and the staff are warm, welcoming and extremely helpful, with a HUGE amount of attention to making sure that everyone gets as much from each class as possible. The teachers are very alert and observant, giving each student individualized coaching of the specific movements in the class. I am not one for "jumping around" classes either and am finding this workout to be the most satisfying I have ever tried, I am already seeing the results! If you find yoga to be a little too zen, and pilates not enough to get your heart rate up, then Pure Barre is for you because it's the bar method, plus a little bit of yoga and pilates. My favorite instructor is Nicole... I feel like I get my money's worth with her because she makes sure you're doing everything correctly. I'm a visual learner and struggled in another instructor's class because the instructor would SAY what to do, but i really needed to SEE it in order to copy it (not that instructor's fault, it's just the way I'm wired to learn). Nicole actually demonstrated everything and then followed up to make sure I was doing it correctly, and I appreciated that a lot. Last thing is buy their socks because they have friction on the bottom which you don't get with normal socks, which allows you to stay in place longer without sliding all over the place. In conclusion my body loves Pure Barre more than any other form of exercise I've done so I would definitely recommend one hundred percent. read more
