I had a very poor experience here. The "trial" is a trap--it is incredibly difficult to cancel, and they make you jump through hoops to end your membership. Additionally, the classes are consistently overcrowded, making it hard to get a good workout. Be careful: if you miss a class, they hit you with a very pricey "no-show" fee. Overall, the business is not easy to work with and I am not satisfied. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

If I could rate Pure Barre Elmhurst more than five stars, I would. I've never been able to stick to a consistent workout schedule until I joined, and now I just hit my 250th class here. The instructors here are TOP NOTCH and make me feel so excited and empowered to push myself and get stronger every time I come. The owners are also incredible women that have created the most welcoming, inspiring community here that you could ever ask for. The community is so kind and there is no toxic environment here. Just supportive members, staff and owners. The goal in this building is to become a stronger you, mentally and physically-- NOT to just lose weight/get skinny. No matter where you are in your fitness journey, there is a place for you here, and instructors are more than willing to offer modifications if you are having trouble. I'll be honest-- the unlimited membership is expensive for me, but worth every last penny because there's nowhere else I'd wake up at 4:45am to go workout at day after day! If you're thinking of trying out Pure Barre, I would highly highly recommend trying the free trial class, and I hope you end up loving it as much as I do! read more

I am new to barre workouts but have dabbled at few different studios so know the basic routine. I enjoyed the classes I have taken in the past as they remind me of the conditioning I'd do in my dancing years (age 3-20). When I found out this location was opening in Elmhurst I was so excited to have a studio close by (yay Western Suburbs!). So I recently had a few days off before Thanksgiving with lots of down time and finally decided to try a class or two with the intention of being active during those days instead of sedentary. I bought the "new client" package of buy 1 get 1 to test the waters. Well, let me say I have been hooked since my very first class with Kelsey (even though I was jello when I left and could barely walk the next day.. haha) Being new to the studio and to the method can be so intimidating, but Liz and all the class leaders are incredibly welcoming, friendly and patient with new clients (or as I would call myself, "students"). Now - I have a lot of work to do on my technique and strength but I already feel stronger (a week later) and look forward to class, missing it on days I can't fit it in my schedule. The studio is clean, bright and located downtown Elmhurst with a parking garage just behind it with free spots after rush hour on weekdays and all weekend. The class times vary by day, but so far I've been able to make weekdays work even though I commute on the Metra. Good news is if I ever run late I can hop off the Metra and walk straight to class! I just did my first class at Pure Barre in Elmhurst, and I really enjoyed it. From the moment I walked in, both the front desk staff and the instructor were warm and welcoming. It can be intimidating to try a new fitness class, but they made me feel right at home. The class itself was challenging, and it took me a bit to get the hang of some of the movements, but I can tell it was working the very muscles I need to work after long days of sitting at a desk scrunched over my computer. It's clear that sticking with Pure Barre will help with my posture, core strength, and overall fitness. I'll definitely be back to use the remaining classes on my Groupon -- and probably more! My only complaint about Pure Barre is that studios aren't interchangeable. I work two doors down from the Fulton Market location, and would love to be able to take classes at both locations. I hope in the future they will allow this to be possible! read more

I LOVE this place! Even though I just started going here, the instructors (shout out to my girl Kelsey) are amazing and so kind and helpful! They even text you personally to make sure your first class went okay and you had a positive experience. I just love how personal they get with you and make you feel accommodated for and taken care of. Not to mention, the facility is super clean, super cute, warm and inviting. I definitely want to continue coming here for the rest of the summer. Although I felt like I stuck out, being a 19 year old Latina and most of the people in my class were about middle aged white women, I didn't feel uncomfortable in any way! Everybody was so nice and focused on doing their own thing and I felt no pressure or judgement being a newbie. Love Pure Barre! The workout is intense and you really feel the burn. The studio is very clean and nicely decorated and they provide all of the equipment you need to get a good workout in. I like that you can book and cancel your classes online (just make sure to cancel within the recommended time frame or you may be charged) and once you have an account you can manage your workout schedule and see your previous workouts, purchases, etc. Everyone there is extremely friendly and helpful. I have taken classes with 4 different instructors now and they've all been great. The owner is also very friendly and helpful as I had some questions prior to signing up that she was happy to answer for me. Overall, I highly recommend the workout and this particular studio. Do NOT put your credit card on file. During the Month of January I signed up for a $99 intro month. When I went in for my first class I was assured if the woman at the front desk puts my card on file, I will not be charged again. At the end of my intro month my bank account was charged $170- the cost of a 12 month unlimited open barre membership. I never signed up for this. Not online. Not in person. Not on paper. They are currently refusing to give me a refund, saying I "verbally agreed" to this membership on my first day of class. Poor management. I will be going to my bank to have them fight this and if need be, a lawyer as well. read more

After my 3rd class in 5 days I seriously noticed a lift in my backside and my muscles were noticeably tighter on a moment-by-moment basis. No lie -- it was great. My husband *swears* he noticed too. With the Thanksgiving holiday and World Series, I only managed to attend about 10 days out of the month, but I definitely notice on a nearly hourly basis that my body feels tighter, better, throughout the day. I also notice when I haven't attended class in 2+ days because I don't feel as good. The best part is that this is the one activity I've ever tried that I actually enjoy, and I can tell it is a balanced and healthy workout for all of my muscles (they work them all - big and small - and switch the exercises up just enough to keep it interesting without leaving you feeling like you missed a muscle group or were lost during class). They even work those deep ab muscles that make you feel skinny and concave rather than pushed out, which most exercises seem to miss IMO. Class also includes a fair amount of stretching to create longer, lean dancer-type muscles. Plus, and a big plus, all of the instructors are a joy to be around and our fellow PB classmates are great too. No awkwardness. This location opened up across the street from my home and I couldn't be happier. They also have a useful app for scheduling classes, and sweet gear in their boutique. If you hate cardio but like feeling like you made the most of your 55 minutes, PB is perfect. read more

I've been dying to try Pure Barre for a while now and decided to checkout the Elmhurst location while back home in the western suburbs for the holidays. I wish I could go here all the time! I will definitely be returning every time I come back to visit. Liz was very welcoming and encouraging. She was a fantastic instructor and it was a really challenging yet enjoyable workout. I loved the Pure Barre workout and can't wait to do it again. As someone who frequents different types of group workout classes, I was also really impressed by how personal Liz was as an instructor, how clean and nice the space is, and how committed everyone in the class was. Let me start off with saying that I LOVE PURE BARRE I love how the staff is always welcoming when you enter the door, they know everyone by name, and they make an effort to get to know you! I've been to other group classes and other gyms, and pure barre is an amazing experience overall. I love how each class targets underworked muscles and strengthens them. Also, it's always a whole body workout with either your own body weight or lightweights. I never feel judged when I attend classes, and I love how encouraging the staff is and how they go around and help correct postures! They are very motivating. I'm in my 14th class and on my 1st day of class I signed up for a whole year unlimited, because I loved how challenging the class is, yet little impact on the joints! I've been to a lot of different chiropractors and pure barre is definitely helping me strengthen my underworked muscles! I really enjoy going to Sarah's class, she always has a smile on her face, always motivates me to do my best, and corrects my posture! She was my instructor for my very first class, so I think I'm a little bias when I say she's the best hehehe I can't wait to reach my 100th pure barre class so I can get my picture taken, receive the cool 100 club socks, and finally sign the barre - I think this is really motivating me to be consistent, but also because I just feel amazing, much stronger, and healthier!! This is my first time doing this type of glass and I have really loved it. It's probably one of the most intense classes I have done (I've done Pilates, core power, yoga, and some others I can't remember ) but it is not too intense where I can't do it. Love this new studio! I had done a few classes in the city, and was super excited when I saw a location was opening in Elmhurst. I'm a member of Courts Plus, but was looking for something to complement my cardio, closer to my house. Through 80% of the exercises, I think "why am I doing this to myself?" as my mind wanders to Kilwin's just one block away, and my couch just two blocks away. But once I get over those humps, I always feel very fulfilled and happy I made it through. I can feel myself getting stronger, slowly but surely. I broke my leg and was in a non-weight bearing cast for months. Needless to say I gained weight and my muscles atrophied. I chose pure barre to regain my strength and shed some pounds. Last night was my first class. I took many breaks but I got through 90% of the class. They use simple to follow effective movements and my muscles were shaking. That's a great feeling. I've always wanted to try Pure Barre, but have been putting it off for years. I'm so so happy I tried it! I walked in and immediately felt welcomed. The staff was friendly, positive, and supportive. They made me feel comfortable right away. And the class was so great! The instructor offered words of support and adjustments throughout the full class. I felt like she was with us and was paying attention to our form the full time, which I loved! It's a tough workout but very rewarding. First impressions count and my first visit to this studio was welcoming and quite energetic. Being greeted by the studio owner and actually taking a class she teaches (Pure Classic - the most basic class available) was quite different from other places I've experienced. The studio is spacious, clean, smells good (I love candles) and they have a dressing room, as to not impact traffic in the restroom, now if all patrons made use of it, there wouldn't be lines forming in the back area. 50 minutes does go by quickly, but the pace of class was consistent and manageable. I've done Barre classes before so it may come with a bit more ease, but nonetheless challenging and persistence pays off. You'll see results, feel accomplished and might even enjoy it! Look forward to my next class! Ohhh and parking is not an issue, there is plenty parking in the lot across the street or the parking lot right behind the building, in downtown Elmhurst. read more

I am brand new to Pure Barre and was a ball of nerves for my first class. There were a few other newcomers and the instructor was welcoming and helpful in giving us a quick run down of what to expect, where things were and what items to use. Though it was fast paced, it was easy to follow and the instructor assisted if my form was wrong. It is indeed an all body, work up a sweat work out, which was awesome. I've been wanting to try these types of classes for awhile but haven't had a lot of free time since the baby was born They were very welcoming and explained how the class would flow.
