I really enjoy my workouts here, they are challenging and change so it's fresh each class. The staff is very welcoming.

I love coming here. The only reason I am leaving 3 stars is because no one told me that it costs…read moreonly $40 a month if you go exclusively to kids classes. I paid $94 since my baby was 3 months old and coming only to kids classes. I canceled during the holidays and decided to come back only to find out a much cheaper rate that I could have been paying in the past 9 months. I had no idea! And I looked online as well at their class options. This was not offered as an option. Also, it sucks that you can't put your membership on hold! My baby was sick and we couldn't come for 2-3 weeks but I still had to pay $94 for that month! Come on! The gym seems behind in technology and they should educate their attendees better about the membership options. My baby loves coming to class here. The crawlers yoga is very fun! Songs, playing, sounds and communicating with other toddlers.

They have created a community in this studio for women and children, have childcare, and allow you to come and go as you please. They even often classes where you are encouraged to bring your baby and either practice yoga/barre, feed, or even sit and close your eyes. The space is truly yours to do what is calling to you. That part I love, love, love. Now for what I don't love. Unfortunately the atuis a little small and the yoga mats they provide are a little.... worn and torn. But mostly, I have felt a bit intimated going there. Many of the instructors and women practice eastern/holistic practices which I think is absolutely great! I have so much respect for that. But I didn't feel respected for my choice to practice western care- especially when it comes to child birthing. Maybe it was this one instructor- and I am not giving them a fair chance? But I felt daggers for being a suburban, working mom and who had a western childbirth. And that is not welcoming. Also- I wish the studio had mirrors to work on form. I think there are a lot of great concepts here and with minor tweaks can get there!

A couple of places charge $20-22 per class and that's with a package. So, yes, please! TimeOut's barre classes are called "Behind Bars". I've only had Madeline so far. I find her a very effective fitness instructor. Even though the classes have 20-30 students, she scans the room and offers up corrections and modifications. This impresses me. I also liked the fact that there seemed to be a wide variety of ages in my barre classes rather than a bunch of 20 something year olds clad in Lululemon with fake tans unlike a certain yoga chain that I will not mention by name. I would recommend signing up for class online. Also, you get a "no show" charge if you sign up for a class but don't show up but this is pretty common with barre classes. I haven't taken the other classes yet, but I might take a pilates one to switch things up. The studio itself is also very, very nice. There are dressing rooms, hot towels, and tea. Reception area people are nice also! So, you have to sign up for an orientation which at first I was kind of bummed out. But, when I went to the orientation, I found it really helpful and the instructor seemed knowledgeable and interested in everyone. Orientation is only about 15-20 minutes so not really a biggie. I would recommend trying to fit your orientation in before a class you want to attend. I've also not had parking issues at this place either but I usually take the first class of the day.

Used the Studio on and off for nine years. They offer Les Mills classes, which is great if you…read moredon't love the experience at the Y. Many great instructors here and the front desk team is good. It's the owner who ultimately pushed me away. I just could not continue to watch her chastise her instructors and clients during classes and disrespect her clients in the truly crazy emails she sends. She said she'd eject people from class if it was obvious they'd used scented laundry products! We all want to be healthy but bullying and treating us like children isn't motivating in the least. Fortunately, there are many other options in South MINNEAPOLIS.
