It's truly a full body workout with legs, abs and arms all while laying down for the most part. The other members have been really friendly and welcoming which you don't always encounter at small studios like this. Class sizes are small but they aren't always full which seems odd because it's a great studio. Not sure why more people don't check it out. The studio itself is really spacious and has little cubbies for your coat and purse. There are a handful of parking spaces behind and on the side of the building which is unusual for uptown businesses.

Parking is available which is nice. Cons: Maybe I am coming in with more expectations for a hard workout, but the class sort of left me wanting another 30 minutes of a workout. As a first timer at this studio, I expected more of a welcoming vibe. The instructor wasn't very friendly and didn't greet me when I walked in the door until after about 3 minutes of me awkwardly standing there. There are so many Pilates studios to choose from in this area and basic courtesy should be a minimum expectation of staff.

Can I give 6 stars? This gym is amazing! The vibe is…read morenon-intimidating, supportive, and fun! The instructors are skilled and hilarious and somehow make doing planks fun. They also make everyone feel welcome. I've only been for Pilates classes but have been to several of them and loved them all. Pilates classes tend to draw a female crowd which can be intimidating but this studio couldn't be further from that. Everyone is welcoming, no one cares what you wear (Lulu who? Wear your favorite t-shirt), and every skill level is accommodated. They have 4 reformer machines so for classical reformer classes, they have 4 spots. I typically go over lunch and book ~5 days out and usually don't have an issue getting a spot. They use the MindBody app and have their own app as well so booking classes is easy! They use a waitlist and most times I've been on the waitlist, I get added to the class. The instructors mix things up and keep it interesting with fun music! I've been to reformer classes elsewhere with soft, soothing music and it nearly put me to sleep. Not here! Expect 80s jams from Jean, Lizzo from Andrea, and the Doobie Brothers (or Beyonce!) from Ruth. They have a Pilates Circuit class that combines the reformer, jump board, tower, chair, mat, TRX, and more. I haven't done the same workout in a Circuit class once. Circuit classes can have 12 (or maybe even 16) people in a class which is super fun and keeps the energy in class moving. The studio has cubbies for your belongings, a bathroom, towels, and a shower. They have a parking lot with maybe 10 spots and tons of parking spots along the street. I haven't had an issue with parking but they are next door to Psycho Suzi's so on a summer Saturday, give yourself extra time to park. Upstairs they have the "Treehouse" where they hold barre, Pilates, and yoga classes. The back wall of the studio is all windows that face the Mississippi. They also have the "Basement" where they have open gym and weight classes. They even have open gym times in the "Treehouse" with the Pilates equipment! Their prices are wonderful! Your first week is free so definitely try that. I did and 6 months later, am still going to classes. Your first month of unlimited classes is $59 which is INSANE for Pilates. Their memberships get you any class - reformer, yoga, kettlebells, whatever! PLUS unlimited access to open gym times. After the intro month, their prices and membership options vary but are still some of the most affordable options I've seen. They have a 12-class-a-month option for $135 which means each class is $11.25 - for reformer classes! I've seen studios charge $35 for one class. They host free outdoor workouts in the park, bike rides, and "Planks & Dranks" events at local bars. If you're looking for great workouts, a supportive workout community, and affordable classes, try a class at NE Fitness. I suggest the Pilates Circuit Class with Andrea to get you started. See you there!

This was my first-ever experience in an infrared sauna, much less in a gym where you workout IN an…read moreinfrared sauna. It was easy to schedule, and the front desk person was friendly while giving me a tour. Isometric classes are about 40 minutes, but the cardio classes (yes, there are bikes and rowers IN the sauna pods) are only 15 minutes. The website says that is because they are basically twice as effective a room-temperature class, so you can do one sauna class in half the usual time. I did an isometric class, so I can't speak to the cardio experience, but I have never sweat more, not even in hot yoga. The provided mat and towel did their job, though, and it wasn't slippery at all. You reserve a time in a particular pod, and pick a specific pre-recorded class. The iso classes seemed to be one-person-per-pod as I walked by, but the cardio pods each had 3 bikes or 3 rowers in there, so you could be with other people. I could definitely feel my muscles burning, even though the exercises were slow and with minimal weight. I followed the instructions and drank a ton of water the rest of the day, but I did feel very good afterwards. Energized yet calm at the same time. Maybe I really did sweat out all of the negative vibes for the day (*shrugs*). I was happy to see a traditional free weights area with rack, so you could do extra exercises if you wanted to. The gym is 24 hours (not staffed the whole time, but members have access), which is definitely a nice perk, and the price is really reasonable (only $60/month for a basic membership). There are gyms with fewer amenities that charge that much, and this place was super nice. I would definitely go again and try a different workout, and would even consider this as a primary gym membership option.

I'm updating my review, and upgrading to five stars, in light of my six months as a very active -…read moreand very satisfied - member. This is a small fitness center which specializes in sauna workouts. Most of the space in this gym consists of actual saunas (although the weight-training area is quite well-appointed). There are two types of workout sessions that can go on in the saunas: isometric workouts like yoga and Pilates ("Hot Yoga", "Hot Warrior", etc.), and cardio workouts like exercise bike routines and rowing machine routines ("Hot Cycle", "Hot Thunder", etc.). Each sauna has a monitor with a virtual fitness instructor coaching you through a specific, well thought out session. Because these workout sessions are in for-real-hot saunas, they are INTENSE. But also for that reason, they are shorter than a normal comparable workout. You get more workout in less time, and the heat negates the need for extended pre-workout stretches. This is literally the only gym membership that has ever worked for me. I have visibly lost weight and my overall health and energy level have improved dramatically. Every other time I've tried a workout regime, it was always tempting to find excuses not to do it. But I am always excited for my Hotworx sessions. I look forward to my scheduled sessions and I always feel energized afterward. (Maybe not RIGHT afterward because at the end of the session I am an absolute mess... but that's how I know I'm doing it right!) These workouts are challenging, every time, but they are just doable enough that I know I'll be able to get through it. And there are modifications you can make to fit your abilities for each program, so if it seems impossible, make an adjustment that works for you. I have more details in my original review, and also I've left several tips in that section of the app. But after six months and probably about a hundred sessions, I can attest that Hotworx delivers on its promise, and I am a healthier and happier person than I was six months ago.

I have some body issues stemming from injury and flat feet (thanks dad) and caryn not only was respectful of them but also showed me how to modify certain stretches and sequences so as not to hurt myself or cause discomfort and also get the maximum stretch and strengthening. This morning I went to my first mat class (we had a private "family" class with my mom, me, our friend and her daughter) in probably 3 years and it was wonderful. Their new (well, new to me!) space is light, airy and just beautiful. Caryn is a fantastic teacher and is extremely attentive to all in her classes. I will admit, Pilates can be a bit expensive but the effect it has on your body...and really your mind, can be well worth the expense.

Without these two things you could do a lot of Pilates and have nothing to show for it. The classes feel close to having a personal trainer - I haven't ever had one though - who gives you exercises to do at home and helps you stretch afterward. This is based entirely on my experience with Tia. You can buy 10-class packs for $300 (no credit cards). After being reformed, you can venture on to the chair and mat classes.
