If you're willing to pay for a class or membership, it's always a good workout with a diversity of movements in one class to keep it interesting. Lovely studio space but my biggest gripe is that there is no water fountain so you have to buy water if you are really thirsty. Good camaraderie among the staff and students here but it can seem cliquey. Clientele here is on the younger side while the studio in Brookline for example, has a more diverse group. I've been here a few times without issue but recently came for a themed class, which started 30 min late due to the staff decorating the studio. That was a little irksome. Prime location!

I completed the 30-days for $100 available for new members. Every 60-min class compromises of the same sequence, with stretching in between: - Leg lifts - Placing the ball between your legs and doing ab/leg sequences - 90-second plank - Plank twists / Side plank - Arm sequences with 2-4 lb weights - Thigh work against the barre - Seat (butt) work against the barre - Ab sequences against the wall - Ab work on the floor - Bridge tucks You will hear the instructors repeat the words "tuck, tuck, hold" "tuck, tuck, squeeze" and never want anyone to say it every again. Your legs will want to fall off and no longer be part of your body. The thigh work is meant to make your thighs shake, wiggle, and BURN. You will close your eyes to help you focus on the work out, but really you'll just be holding back tears from the pain. I felt like a baby fawn just learning how to walk holding some of these moves. However, this repetitive sequence is definitely effective. After a month, my thighs are stronger, my butt is tighter, and I am starting to see some definition in my arms (even though they are only 2-3 lb weights). My only gripe is that I wish there were some sort of variation with what the class targets. Although the specific thigh and seat work alternate with each class, they still target your thighs and butt. I would definitely appreciate a cardio-centered class, or more arm work compared to leg work. This way, choosing specific classes could be based on your preference of what you'd like to work on that day.

The workout was challenging for a beginner, but not impossible. I was able to do about 70% of the exercises (I had spine surgery and don't have full mobility). Plus, all the equipment is provided to you! The biggest con was the overall energy of the class. The music was very poppy and loud, which I didn't love. The instructor also wore a microphone headset, which was VERY hard to hear at times over the music. For a beginner, it was difficult to follow along at times. The class I took was more "peppy" (think: "and lift! and lift!" cues), which isn't exactly my jam. I would have probably tried another class here, but the receptionist told me that this location is unfortunately closing soon.

It's a little hard to find, but look for signs to the right of the entrance to Trident bookstore and go up the steps to the second floor. Once you're there the space feels nice and welcoming. There are lockers and changing booths (with a curtain cover), and bathrooms are located in a common area in the hallway just outside the studio. Not sure if there's a place to fill a water bottle, but I think they have some for sale.

Their signature barre class is pretty standard for barre and uses a tube, ball, and weights. It's a good class, but I felt it wasn't as hard as some other barre studios I've tried (but definitely better than finding barre classes online to follow along). I also noticed that the instructor that day curated a playlist made of songs she likes but kept changing the song and the moves weren't particularly timed to the music or anything, so that was a bit strange. I liked that the classes were on the smaller size, so there was plenty of space in between people. It seems like there are limited class offerings (1-2 classes/day). The instructors and staff were all very friendly and the space was cute and clean. Make sure to bring your grippy socks.

When you walk in it's a very strange setup, with a small lobby with just a couple of benches to sit on and the front desk all the way in the back corner. There's a shelf for socks, water bottles, and hair ties. When I checked in the front desk worker told me the lockers and bathroom are inside behind the studio and I was surprised I didn't have to fill out any waivers. She told me to grab weights, band, and a ball inside for class. There are hooks to hand your coat to the left as you walk in and shoes anywhere under the benches. You have to take your shoes off before entering the studio and you need socks for class. As the previous class exited, I walked in with weights and a band and grabbed a spot inside the studio and went to put my stuff in one of the lockers. The studio space is very square shaped and my class was pretty full with about 22 people. The format of the class included a warm-up with the weights and planks followed by thigh sprints, seat work, ab work, and a bit of stretching at the end. There was a good playlist for music and the instructor Kayla was good about cueing each different move. A good workout, but you won't get too sweaty. Your first class is $10 or you could also try 3 classes for $45. There are also different monthly membership options including founders membership for $150/month. On weekdays, there are a couple morning classes from 6-7AM, one mid-day class, and a few evening classes starting at 4:20 till 7:20PM. While on weekends, there are 2 classes offered in the morning at 9 and 10AM.

I've been taking classes at Boston Body Pilates in the Waterfront for about six weeks now, and my…read moreexperience has been overwhelmingly positive--especially thanks to Valencia, one of their instructors. She's a Black woman, and having that representation in a Pilates space genuinely matters to me. Starting where I started and seeing how far I've already come with her support has meant a lot. She remembers my name, makes me feel included rather than out of place, and gives hands-on guidance that actually helps me understand and correct my technique. It's the kind of attention that makes you want to keep showing up. From my very first day, I've also felt welcomed by Courtney, who greeted me when I walked in, and by Mallory, who's been responsive and kind over email. There's a sense of attentiveness throughout the studio that I really appreciate--especially with all the current conversations happening around inclusivity in Pilates spaces. Now, for the real talk: Communication They do say on their website that email is the best way to reach them, and they mean it. Calling is... hit or miss. I've called before and gotten no answer, and I've talked to other people who've had the same experience. So if you're looking for a quick phone response, good luck--you're better off emailing. Schedule & Space They offer classes seven days a week, with options in the morning, afternoon, and evening, which makes it easy to fit into any schedule. I'm also looking forward to exploring more of the studio, because they have different rooms with different machines and setups. Parking It's the Northend--so yes, parking is rough. You're likely paying $28+ unless you luck out with street parking. Keep that in mind when planning your trip. Location They're a bit tucked away. If you're taking a Lyft or driving, note that you can't just pull up right in front. They're located on the other side of Joe's (the restaurant). Once you figure it out, it's easy, but the first time can feel like a scavenger hunt. Other Note From time to time there's a dog in the studio, but I've never had it roaming around during class. Just something to know if you're allergic or prefer pet-free spaces. Overall, I've felt supported, included, and challenged in all the right ways. If you're considering trying Pilates--especially if you value representation, community, and instructors who actually pay attention--Boston Body Pilates Waterfront is worth checking out.

I'm definitely planning to come back and would highly recommend it to anyone curious about trying Pilates! 10/10 would recommend!!

SCAM - DO NOT GO HERE !!!!…read more I've always been involved in fitness classes so I thought that coming here would be similar to every other experience I've had. WRONG. While I've done other classes, I've never tried barre before so I wanted to give it a shot with their free intro class to see if I would like it. The class was alright, but the manager of the studio along with 3 other employees all cornered me at the end of the class asking when I would start and continuously asking what my schedule is like. It was very uncomfortable and honestly they make it hard to even think about the classes clearly when they outnumber you like that. They told me that the second I leave the studio, there will be a $60 fee if I try to sign up for classes online and that giving a "free class" where you don't have to pay this ridiculous fee if you sign up right there is actually their "gift" to you. At the time, I agree to try a 4 class pack because I figured that the class was fine enough and worst case scenario, if I don't like it at the end of the 4 classes I don't have to continue. They rush in putting this payment through and ask for a code that is sent to your phone number. They also tell me that there is a 30 day cancellation policy, which is annoying in itself but that is the least of my concerns. What they DON'T tell you is that this code is meant for a contract that they sign for you and then don't tell you any terms of this "agreement." In this contract, they signed my name for me for a 3 month initial term that I did not ask for. After finding out their deceitful methods, I email them immediately to ask for a cancellation of this "membership" that I did not sign up for and ask for a refund as I will not be taking any of the classes anymore. They continuously fight me on it saying that I verbally agreed to it at a specific date and time and refuse to give me my money back with no real reasoning. I tried to just talk to them and simply cancel the classes because I don't support businesses that try to trick their clients, but of course they don't actually care.
