The woman who runs this company is completely unprofessional. She has no consideration for your time and does.not honor appointments. I had an appointment set for 1:00pm. She confirmed with me the day before. I set up my schedule to be home for her. The morning of our appointment she tells me someone canceled on her and she wants to move my appointment up to 11:30. I could not accommodate that so she tells me she doesn't want to wait for me until our 1:00 appointment and instead will take other customers ahead of me and can now see me at 2:30 which I could also not accommodate. She then texts me rudely telling me how "I don't understand how her schedule works". I understand that I honored our appointment and she did not. This was the second time she did this to me so I found another groomer that did a beautiful job instead. STAY AWAY!!! read more

Fabulous! My German Shepherd was too weak to walk to the local groomer & too fragile to get in & out of a car. Too big to wash in at home. Pupstarz came to my door --in Manhattan-- picked him up into their van. About 45 minutes later Pepper was a different dog! I use them for my cats. One has digestive problems because he eats his hair. Pupstarz gives him a lion cut .....The cat loves it..... no more problems. I now do the other cat too. So professional in their approach to each animal. A waste of time and they take NO responsibility. I have an older dog of 15 years. He cannot stand for long so asked if I could bathe and blow dry his hair the night before and they just cut his hair. For their regular price of $95, they agreed. We spoke 45 minutes before arriving, and confirmed all was good. At 9 AM I waited at the front of my building. By 9:15 I returned to my apt (my cell phone was out of commission) and heard their message that they were in traffic and would be late. I returned to the front of my building until 9:30 AM. I borrowed someone's phone to call them. They said they had left. They had called several times and I wasn't there. I explained my cell phone was out of commission. They insisted that I KNEW I was to wait for their phone call telling me they had arrived and where exactly they "parked". I said I never was told that. Then I said, OK, clearly a misunderstanding, let's reschedule. They insisted that I should pay half of the prior appointment since I lost them money! They are unwilling to take any responsibility for what they didn't communicate. Nor acknowledge that I WAS waiting for them outside my home. AND no responsibility for wasting my time. read more

The best groomers I've ever used. The ladies are extremely professional, always on time and impeccable communicators. Best of all, their van is spotless! I wonder where all the hair goes. Every time my cats get groomed by the ladies, they seriously don't shed for a whole month. It's seriously magic! Sadly, I moved to the west coast so I can't use them anymore. This chick is out of her mind. I contacted her for weeks trying to make an appointment, she text me back much much later saying she was on vacation. Ok fine. Weeks later she tells me that she can take my girls but the only date we can get is October ( I made contact in early September). She explains that since she lives close I can bring the girls around to her. I agree. We agreed to 4:00-4:30 pm. The day before she says she'll be off from work by 3pm. She doesn't say we're changing our appointment time, doesn't ask me if its ok, just says I'll be in by 3pm. So the next day I get a call at 3 ish, saying she's waiting for the girls. I'm like, ok we agreed to 4-4:30, I'll be there by 4. This chick goes bat shit crazy. Bat shit! Starts telling me "I don't have time for your back and forth". Literally yells at me over the phone and tells me never to contact her again. Really chick? So I'm soooo glad my dogs never came to her. she's high strung, ditzy and doesn't know how to run her business. And...she's insane. read more

I have a year old adopted pup who needs frequent grooming as his hair grows fast. I tried the chic salon near me (they charge a fortune). And I tried Petco (cheaper and decent). They both kept my dog 4 hours. My neighbor told me about "mobile grooming" and when I happened by Pupstarz' van on the street an ecstatic customer was picking up her pooch from sisters Gabriella and Kristal. "They're the BEST!" she gushed. Well, I finally tried the gals today and they ARE the best. They did exactly what I wanted in under an hour. Their price was midway between the most and the least I'd previously spent, and they were worth every penny. They come to you, they do a thoroughly professional job, they're nice as can be, they are well priced and they don't drag it out for hours. It doesn't get any better than this in New York City. Quite frankly I don't know how these people are in business. I wish there was a minus 5 stars option. I paid $85 dollars to get my dogs hair cut, I would pay $585 just to go back in time and not have brought him here. I hesitated to write this review, because I don't like to be negative, but I wish someone had warned me about this groomer. She turned my cute handsome little teacup into an unattractive looking dog with choppy hair and a cut that just looked ridiculously horrible right before a major event I was taking him to. Here's the basics: 1. She said I couldn't stay with my 2 lb yorkie. I usually stay with him at other groomers, he's tiny so I want to make sure he is safe and ok. I was very uncomfortable with this but left him. I thought she looked young but figured if she's operating a business she must know what I was doing. This was my biggest mistake. I regretted leaving him for 2 months after. 2. SHE GAVE HIM THE WORST HAIR CUT IN THE HISTORY OF HAIR CUTS - She ruined his hair. There is no way for me to express in words how bad this actually was. To be honest - I could have cut his hair better myself with my left hand. Honestly - my boyfriend and I are absolutely baffled by how bad the cut was. To be specific I said "Keep his head fluffy - I love his big fluffy head, and leave his bell bottoms, cut down his body about 1/4 inch." The woman cut my dogs fluffy hair on his head down to the bone and cut his bell bottoms right off. It had taken him 6 months to grow that hair and now it will take him more than 4 months to grow it back. To this day my boyfriend and I cannot understand how she could have done this - the exact opposite of what i asked her to do. We just cannot understand why she would have done that. My boyfriend was more upset about this than I was and I was really upset about it. We have the cutest little dog, to pay someone to make him as un-cute as he could possibly be and right before a big event. 3. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE - When I called to tell her I was unhappy about the hair cut, she basically said "Well you should be appreciative of my effort." I didn't ask a friend to do me a favour, this is a business, this was a service I paid for. She made the whole thing about her when it was about my dog and the work she had done. Honestly I was hoping for an explanation of why she did the opposite of what i asked for and totally f*@cked up my poor little baby. And all she did was turn it into an argument. So immature. The next time my usual groomer is on vacation - I will WAIT until they are back even if they're gone for 2 months. If Pupstarz were the last groomer left in Manhattan I would groom him myself. I wish others had written reviews here so I could have been pre-warned. Unbelievable. This was my single worst consumer experience in the 3 years i've been living in New York. Crystal, the owner, loves dogs and accommodates her mobile dog grooming spa to your dog's needs. Our dog loves Pupstarz, and so do we. The prices are also quite reasonable. read more

do not ever use them!! they are rude, inconsiderate people. they confirm appointment times and then show up whenever they feel like it and expect you to be home and ready, then they act like youre late if they decide to come hours early. they are totally unreliable and the cuts arent even good. read more

I have been seeing Crystal with PUpstarz for 4 years. I have a very difficult dog and she will only allow Crystal to handle him. She is the best in Manhattan and I have been all over the city with my fosters and rescues. I highly recommend her, you will love her and so will your pet. read more

Crystal groomed my maltese. I was so impressed with her work and it was the first time anyone groomed him to look like a maltese and not a poodle or bijon. I am extremely picky and pupstarz passed my litmus test. If you've had a bad experience, please post a picture so that others can see what went wrong.
