Finally, we pulled the trigger and bought a beautiful little girl French bulldog puppy. It was an incredible experience. The store staff gave us all the information we needed how to train her, what to do when we bring her home. What to feed her, what to do when we bring her to the vet, they were extremely helpful with everything. We named her Bianca, and we love her so much and now she is part of our family. I was employed as a vet tech for six years at a local practice and decided it was time to break the silence. I have never owned a pup from Puppy Love but had numerous clients who had purchased animals from their store. I witnessed dogs come in with terrible kennel cough, vaccination reactions, internal and external parasites, hypoglycemia, difficult temperaments and even a few pups that were antibiotic resistant which is commonality in puppy mill dogs. I know this does not happen in every scenario but it happens much more frequently than it should. I worked with devastated clients with thousands of dollars in bills who were ignored by the Silverman's only to sometimes be harassed later. My practice advised us against sharing the truth with clients who were considering purchasing a pup from their establishment out of fear of retribution. The two vets that Puppy Love uses are friends of the owners. There are countless cases where animals came in very ill after received recent clearance from their practice. The owner was amazing and you CAN TELL he actually cares about the puppies and where they are going. My puppy was a happy healthy puppy. From the starts she was such a good healthy easy to train puppy. She's the most amazing dog now and her and I just got back from traveling the country together. She has an amazing life. I purchased a Morkie from Puppy Love. After having him a while he didn't fit the picture of a Morkie. I paid to have a DNA on him. He wasn't a Morkie he was 75% Yorkie and 25% Biewer Terrier. NO MALTEESE at all. I called the store and asked about the paper work on him but I never received any info on him nor the breeder. SWITCHED AT BIRTH. Still wondering about his back ground. He is otherwise healthy but because he is more Yorkie his toilet training has been tuff. I used to like this place. Have been for many years. But the staff treat children disrespectful. They were allowing certain people to play with dogs and not parents with younger children. I have no problem with puppy stores. This is about their customer service. I will never go back and they were combative when I confronted them. We're a family of 4 with a Dachshund named Larry. We found Larry a little brother at Puppy Love & gave Sean, an employee & the owners spouse, the $200 deposit he required. It was explained that with this deposit, this puppy would be sold to our family. The next day when we'd attempted to arrange a time to pick up the puppy, Sean at Puppy Love was a different person; wouldn't talk to us. He'd obviously sold the puppy out from under us. And the way he acted was particularly careless & offensive, making our family feel we were the cause of what was his unethical way of doing business. Owner is incredibly rude. Asking exactly what medical treatments and shots exactly the puppies have received is a normal question. It is not confusing to ask "what medical treatments have the puppies undergone at this stage of their development." This is not a confusing question and the exact medical history of the puppies are not posted on the website. Saying "up to date" is not sufficient, and saying that you've been in business for 25 years doesn't mean very much. It just means If you are not giving the puppies adequate medical treatments, you've not been caught yet. We all get that you're busy, and I fully expect you to comment rudely back, but from the brief phone call where I asked you about medical history that is not fully included on your website, you responded "Have you looked at the website, I don't have time for this right now. I have four other people looking at these puppies," and hung up. Your response was rude. We get you are busy, but quite literally all you needed to do was say "hey, we have potential candidates for these puppies right now!" We asked basic medical history for what has been done so far. Owner responded that puppies don't have all of their shots so far (duh, that's not what I was asking and I was fairly clear, you were just rude and didn't have the time). Will never get animals or supplies from you. I hate leaving yelp reviews but you didn't have the time to talk to me on the phone respectfully, so I'm posting it here. Only to find ourselves in a commercial area off the highway, greeted with the aroma of ammonia. Hurt my husbands likings so bad he walked right out. My husband and I lost out 14 year old Boston Terrier and we were so heart broken. Our life was empty and sad. We saw Puppy Love had 4 Boston Terriers, we made an appointment just to look lol. We were meet at the door by Bill the owners Boston Terrier which made me and my husband smile. We spent time with all the Boston puppies we needed a certain personality and had to find the right one. We spoke a lot to the owner and our life and the owber pointed out one to us. It was the best suggestion. We named him Tucker aka Tucker the terrior oh boy he keeps me on my feet. On April 1, 2020, I bought a 9 1/2 week miniature schnauzer puppy from Puppy Love. We named him Carson. Two days later, Carson began to sniff and sneeze A LOT. I didn't think much of it at first, but it soon turned into full-blown Kennel Cough. On the third day Carson had his first vet visit. I was told that 1) he had giardia and had to be treated and 2) one of his testicles had not yet dropped and this would likely involve a surgery--or take the risk of Carson developing cancer. We didn't discuss Kennel Cough that day, but on day 4, Carson had developed full-blown Kennel Cough and infected my other two dogs. Now, all three were coughing, snorting, gagging, and spitting up, incessantly. All three dogs had to be treated by my vet. The Kennel Cough came from the environment at Puppy Love, which was then spread to my other dogs. I did not contact the store regarding this maddening and expensive situation. Regarding the giardia, the vet and all online sources clearly state that this parasite is a direct result of the ingestion of contaminated water, or feces, or contaminated water with feces. These conditions must have been present at Puppy Love since Carson was well taken care of when I brought him home. Again, I did not contact the store. I did contact the store, however, regarding the non-descending testicle. I called Puppy Love and spoke to the owner. He assured me that Puppy Love would cover the cost of the surgery if the testicle did not drop within the next few weeks. I asked him to please email me that resolution. More than 10 days later, no email, so I called the store again. This time, a different employee reiterated the owner's promise and said he would send me the email. Now, 3 months later, still no email. My advice to anyone considering purchasing at Puppy Love: stay clear. This is an unprofessional and unhealthy environment. read more

My mother and I bought her beautiful black Pug from Puppy Love last year and couldn't be happier with that decision. We originally saw a picture of her Pug on Puppy Love's FB page and were thrilled to see he was even cuter in person. The store was well-kept, clean and we really liked the fact the dogs had their own pens that were big enough for them to run around in. In any event, after seeing our little guy, we had to have him. Since the purchase, he has always been healthy as a horse and in great spirits, just as he was when we bought him. Got our puppy when he was 14 weeks. Within less than 8 hours he had explosive diarrhea. Giardia. This was in May. It's now September and I JUST got a negative test. Medications 3 times and just as many fecals. Took me forever to get my money back from the first round of testing from the owner. I also had to treat my whole house for FLEAS! I have NEVER had fleas in my home until this pup came home. I didn't notice because in less than 24 hours he was at the vet being treated for the Giardia and they gave me flea prevention. It took 2-3 months to notice that my cats (indoor) had fleas. I had a malamute for almost 15 years and a golden and they never had fleas, so I know they had to have come in with the pup. Guess what he has now? Seborrhea. A skin disorder that in Labs under 2 years old is most likely genetic. Meaning POOR BREEDING. I don't care what this place says, they are getting their puppies from a mill and if by some freak of nature they aren't then they have really really bad over breeding policies and do not care about the puppies they are creating. I now have a 7 month old pup that I love dearly that is going to suffer with a skin condition his whole life that I can only control, NOT, cure. I also have a 4 month Chihuahua that I got from a REPUTABLE breeder, and he is PERFECT. I feel so bad for my pup and I would never walk into this place again, they should be ashamed but then again they are all about the money they charge for the pups they sell. read more

If you really are a terrible person who wants to support a business that is purely in it for the money and has no humility whatsoever, or your under 10 years old than i recommend it. But if your a person who has feelings and a heart don't go here. The dogs are in a decently sized room but their crates are all side by side. It is like a showroom for dogs. They clearly aren't ever outside i understand they are in a location where you can't go outside, but move your location if you have living things that need to breath air. They do their business inside of the crates it looks like because of the newspapers covered in poop right under the crates. And the residue from the poop is still on the crates. The dogs are absurdly priced and if they really cared behind about the animals the prices would not be that high. It is impossible to sell happiness and love when the conditions the dogs seem to be in is below par. Do not recommend unless you want to buy an animal to get them out of that place. read more

Hold your breath!! You will not be able to inhale at all without the smell of urine and feces. This place gets an F in the record book. The people are unfriendly and it's extremely unsanitary. We asked to see a puppy and all it did was run around with its back legs cramped up because of its excessive sitting position all day and night in its cage. There is no area for dogs to run around or lay on a soft bed. Instead they lay on the cage floor that is grated. How is this allowing the puppy to grow? The staff walk around with a bucket of water and toilet brush to wet the feces so it falls through the grate and onto the newspaper that lays beneath the cage. Seriously, this is how you clean the environment for dogs and humans?? If I could buy all the dogs I would and shut this cruel place down! read more

Had a horrible experience at puppy love. Bought a puggle pup, while driving home she started wheezing. Made emerg vet appt. She had pneumonia. I called puppy love and was told if I give them a letter from vet they would reimburse my MEDICATION. I honestly spent more at vet for in patient care where pup almost died than I did on purchase price of dog which was $1650. She also gave both my other dogs kenne cough. They all were on meds and sounded like honking geese. I had to give 2 of them, the sick pup and my senior dog, breathing treatments with a nebulizer machine twice a day for 10 days. I would never recommend going here. Find a legit breeder. read more

The Guardia is an indication that the dog was raised in unsanitary conditions. I've been on the market for a new dog for quite some time and found puppy love in Danbury. They have a great selection of dogs and the place was extremely clean despite the fact that there were so many puppies in one room. I did end up getting a puppy and am in love with her. I would give puppy love 5 stars if the following issues would be addressed: 1. Food that is given to the dogs is not great quality and have since then starting introducing better quality food. 2. Vitamin paste that is "required" was taken away from my vet because it didn't not have good ingredients in it. Either find a better vitamin or give better food and the vitamin isn't needed. 3. Re-evaluate timeframe of the vaccines given to puppies. My vet confirmed that a lot of the vaccines were given to my pup too young where it wouldn't be beneficial. Other than that, I can tell puppy love does care for their pups as my dog did receive a good bill of health and she is amazing. Thank you puppy love! read more

I'm giving this 3 stars only because I got my puppy from here about 2 years ago and I am absolutely in love with her.... there was talk in our family about getting another puppy so we went to check them out the other day. The second we walked in it was SO QUIET. Every puppy was sleeping and didn't have the energy to even get up to say hello. This was at around 12:00 pm.... Where my dog is the most energized. The only one that would get up to greet me was a little mastiff puppy, and by the time I walked back over to say goodbye he just laid there wide eyed, and he no longer had the energy to even lift up his head and look at me..... I did notice a lady walking around giving the puppy's "treats" and she gave him one. Not sure what she gave him but I for sure left with a terrible feeling... not sure we will be getting our next puppy from here. read more

I purchased my Shih Tzu puppy from Puppy Love in Danbury CT for $1,100 plus all the accessories. I had to put him down when he was two years old due to congenital back issues. Their warranty is bullshit. I loved him dearly and still miss him terribly after all this time. I have since gotten another beautiful Shih Tzu off a rescue site and she is an angel. I bought my golden retriever now named Bentley from here on Monday. The staff was super friendly and they had many sweet puppies to look at. When I asked about the breeder they said that they had worked with this breeder for awhile now and that she was great. We didn't get the paper work because Bentley had only been there a few days. When I got home I looked through the papers I did have and I saw that he was from a broker called "platinum puppies" located in West Point IA. This place has been on the news and is considered one of the worst puppy mills in the country. His breeder is from Missouri, I googled her name and she has had violations. Overall I'm disappointed my puppy came from these places. I brought him to the vet today as well and he has kennel cough. Puppy love will refund me but it's $10 worth of medication and an hour drive for me so it's not worth it. An ironic name for starters. Puppy Love is not only shady, but the manager is, for lack of a better word, a tool. When he took the deposit on a mini dachshund over the phone, he sounded enthusiastic, kind, and even semi-intelligent! Boy were we wrong. We, a family of 4 including 2 kids were so so sooooooo excited for our new puppy. We were scheduled to come pick him up on Tuesday, so we started ordering toys, beds, crates, etc. We were even coming up with names for the little guy. However, when we called a couple days before Tuesday asking if we could pick the puppy up earlier since we already made the deposit, the owner (Sean, should be spelt Shawn) berated us over the phone despite our calm, polite, and seemingly reasonable question. He proceeded by saying "You'll be refunded the deposit" and hung up the phone. This left the kids in tears and confused as to why an adult man would take away something they had already fallen in love with. I tried calling back to apologize and was assured by another employee he'd get back to me, but of course he never did. This situation was not only painful, but very odd. You'd think a man who claims he's run a business for so long would know better than to treat people that way, but I suppose you'd also think a place called "Puppy Love" would have something other than pure and utter hostility, perhaps love? Do yourself and the dogs a favor- don't go here. P.S.: I have yet to receive my deposit back. read more

This place is ridiculous. I bought my Boston Terrier from here in September 2015. It was my first dog of this breed so I wasn't familiar with what they usually go for. Now I know that breeders typically sell them at around $500-600 which is reasonable in my eyes. I got extremely taken advantage of at Puppy Love as my girl cost us $2,000. That is just disgusting right off the bat, but I had no clue I was being fooled and I fell completely in love with my pup. It's a shame these people get these dogs for next to nothing since they're coming from puppy mills. Beware, they say they come from reputable breeders but that's a load of crap. I'm still upset about how much I was overcharged, but I love my little Boston. When we brought her home from the store, she kept having extremely loose, watery stools for days & it would not get better. We brought a sample to the vet and found out she had parasites. Had to put her on antibiotics. Now that's even more money I wasn't looking to spend. I will never buy another dog from these crooks ever again. I'm glad I saved my puppy from these people. The cages the dogs are in are so so small. The place WAS clean when I went, but they have about 3-4 small puppies in a super small cage. I would suggest rescuing a dog from a rescue or kill shelter or find a reputable breeder of the type of dog you are looking for. Don't get ripped off like I did. Oh & I find it hilarious how one of the owners, Nancy, comments on all of the negative reviews to try and justify their treatments and to make the reviewer look like a fool.
