She pulled through with flying stars thank goodness but we really needed to address the beautiful but dangerous amount of fur that she had on her body. I have had Cats all of my life but never had them professionally groomed. What a FANTASTIC experience! Dana was so sweet and caring both to me and my Kitty. She was so gentle, talking to Piper throughout her 45 minute Spa day. She clipped her toes, cleaned her ears, took TONS of undercoat from her and then lightly shaved her undercarriage, chest, under arms, sanitary places, feet and other places that Piper likes to groom. My wife and I have two English Cocker Spaniels aged seven and two. The oldest suffers acute seizures when exposed to a stressful environment. Having suffered seizures at our previous groomers facility, one of which required hospitalization, we searched for a local groomer. Kim was highly recommended and since taking both dogs to her facility in Brookfield we could not be happier and both dogs now enjoy their experience. Kim allows all her dogs to enter and roam free in the fenced in grooming area where they can adjust in a stress free environment. Dogs are not caged when they enter which is a real positive. Kim only grooms one dog at a time and always gives them special attention and loving care. **DEEPLY UPSETTING GROOMING EXPERIENCE NOT RECOMMENDED FOR A KEESHOND…read more I brought my two Keeshonds to Beau Chien expecting professional, breed appropriate grooming (especially when I was told by Alex he had experience grooming Keeshonds). Unfortunately, this turned into the worst grooming experience me and my two dogs ever had! Keeshonds are a double-coated dog breed and proper grooming requires preserving the coat (especially their signature mane). My female's mane was completely chopped off, drastically changing her appearance and coat structure. She barely resembled a Keeshond and looked more like a Polar Bear. My male's grooming was very concerning to me! About a week and a half (after their grooming appointment at Beau Chien) I took them to get their hair brushed from a groomer who had pointed out to me how thin my males mane was and showed me multiple bald patches on his neck where his hair had clearly been pulled out rather than gently brushed. or properly de-matted. Seeing those areas where his hair was gone had extremely upset me. Prior to their grooming at Beau Chien I had taken them to their regular groomers in Bethel. However, my groomer was fully booked and would not be able to groom them for another month. She came out to see the both of my dogs as she always did and checked their coats (a regular thing she does). I left there and went home. A week later I had taken them to Beau Chien. After this experience at Beau Chien I went back to my regular groomer to show her the chop job they each had. My groomer was in shock (as I had been when I saw my female) when she saw how the female's mane was completely chopped off as well as all her fur too. It looked like she was groomed by EDWARD SCISSOR HANDS! My groomer told me that both my Keeshonds were no where near severely matted and that there was absolutely no need to drastically chop off their hair female's mane and a huge majority of her fur and same with my male. She said that an experienced and patient groomer (familiar with the breed) would have safely brushed through her mane and not have chopped it all off which I agree with her a 100%! When I contacted the owner to discuss what had happened to my two dogs, I was told "It was the Humane thing to do" We are not there to euthanize my dog, we were there for them to get groomed!! I was in shock the owner said that to me! Humane grooming should never result in unnecessary coat removal or bald patches on my dog's throat. This experience left me feeling that there was a lack of breed specific knowledge, poor handling of double-coated dogs. NO WILLINGNESS to ACKNOWLEDGE CLIENT CONCERNS AFTERWARDS. I asked when I picked up Cooper how he behaved, and did not hear of any issues other than that he didn't like his nails trimmed. If he was biting, I understand the use of the restraints, if they are loose enough. I've updated my rating.
