I have been in a lot of pet stores in my lifetime where they primarily sell puppies and this is the best one I have ever stepped into. The front of the store as items like doggie clothing, toys, collars, etc. They also have a bakery window filled with all sorts of gourmet doggie treats. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/puppy-avenue-jacksonville?select=Ljn8Ou9MNqp7XWRO5PlLsg#8wzJRSrMtLpNUfyB8UoUlg Looking at these things actually made me hungry! Yes, they look that good! LOL In the back of the store is where you'll find all the puppies. They ask that you please not stick your hands/fingers in the cages. This is for the safety of the puppies so they don't contract anything. If you are interesting in making purchase a pup, they will be glad to take him or her to a closed in area where you can sit and interact with the pup for as long as you'd like. Hand sanitizer is also available for your use before and after handling the pup. Hubby and I absolutely fell in love with a St. Bernard pup when we were there the other day. I need another Service Dog and one of the breed we have been considering is the St. Bernard. He was just the cutest, friendliest, sweetest thing ever! Unfortunately, his $1499.00 price tag isn't in my budget right now. So, I had to leave the store pouting to my hubby. Take a look at this little guy: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/puppy-avenue-jacksonville?select=Ljn8Ou9MNqp7XWRO5PlLsg#DHnlhaUEmuUNjlnUMekTCQ I can tell the people who work in this shop take extremely good care of the pups and I can also tell they are loved. One of the girls was even grooming one of them while we were there. They also have pups in the windows of the store. Brings to mind the song.... "How much is that doggie in the window......" If you are a dog lover, it's almost impossible to walk past this store without stepping inside to take a peek at the cuties inside!

My husband and I bought her from a pet store in Jax FL.called Puppy Avenue on 02/27/ after 9 days she passed away. Owner never contact us.

My husband and I bought her from a pet store in Jacksonville Florida called Puppy Avenue on February 27. Nine days later, on March 7th, she sadly passed away from pneumonia. She was only 3 months old. The day after we brought her home, we took her to Ark Animal Hospital, the vet that Puppy Avenue recommended in order to receive a free health check for Lucy. We found out that Lucy had kennel cough and giardia, both in which we received medication to treat her. We immediately tried to contact Puppy Avenue to inform them that they sold a very sick puppy to us. We explained that we took the puppy to another Vet and that vet said the puppy was unfit for sale. After several attempts to contact the store, we talked to the store manager who said they would pay for half the first veterinary bill. We promptly declined to accept that as Lucy was still in the hospital. We told them we would be in touch with more information about the puppy and bills. We were reminded that we signed a waiver saying no refunds or reimbursement for veterinary bills. We explained that we wanted to keep Lucy but expected them to pay the veterinary bills based on the FL Pet Lemon Law. We tried to call several times and asked for the owner. We were able to talk to the store manager once but after that she was either off or had just left. The owner never even tried to contact us. On Saturday, March 7th, after having and lovingly caring for her at our home for two days, she took her last breath while I held her in my arms. This puppy (Little Lucy) was supposed to bring joy and happiness to our family, instead we had to watch this poor puppy die in our arms because we were sold an unfit puppy. We never asked for all this, we just wanted a puppy. We share this story because we want justice for Lucy. We don't want another family to have to go through what we went through. We don't want another family to buy a sick puppy from Puppy Avenue, and have them sit back and completely ignore all your emails and calls and do nothing to make this right.

We've purchased 2 dogs from this store, a Saint Bernard and Chocolate Lab. Both dogs are beautiful and have an amazing temperament. This store offers a free vet visit once you purchase your dog which I thought was great because with as many people that come in and out of the store, it's hard to have a super healthy puppy.

We got our mini golden doodle from them March 2019. She is an amazingly healthy, happy puppy. We have sent numerous friends and neighbors to Puppy Avenue. They to have been happy with their dogs. Thanks for helping us find our sweet baby.

Outstanding service !! Came in looking for a puppy that my babe had put on hold the day before, he wasn't ready yet because they said they were waiting on his certificate. We were talking with a very funny and kind man in the morning and as we were talking to him another lady walked in the man explained that we wanted the husky and was just waiting on the certificate so the lady went out of her way to go pick it up then and there and we got to bring home our little baby who we love so much!! I wish I got those employees names because they made our trip there even more special! We received a free check up and they even threw in a collar and a leash! Love this place!!

We got the sweetest puppy from Puppy Avenue 5 years ago! She is happy and healthy! Our lives wouldn't be the same without her!

This is the FB photo the helped me find Sherlock. Look at that face!!

I will say one of my favorite things about this place was the use of their Facebook page. When my fiance and i were looking for a dog, we had such a hard time. I was new to owning a dog and wanted to start with a smaller dog. I was looking on the web and stumbled onto Puppy Avenue's FB where I found pictures of all the dogs they presently had. Scrolling through them, I stopped at this adorable puppy with the droopy eyes of a hound. He was a 4 month old Bassugg. (Basset Hound and Pug) I was in love. I showed Jimmy and he said to call and see if he was available. HE WAS! They quoted a price and said to come in and see him. I stopped by the next day on my lunch and fell head over heals for this puppy. I was so nervous but just knew that he was going to be ours. We adopted him the next day. Everything went very smoothly. He had been in the store for almost a month so they gave us a generous discount on him and included a crate, collar and leash. They were very thorough with their paperwork and payment process. They want to make sure these puppies are going to good homes. We also had a free bet visit included (for the Ark animal hospital where I did a review and was Not impressed but at least we didn't pay for the first visit) They offer that if the puppy gets sick within a period of time after the purchase, they will pay the vet bills. My sister took advanage of this with their second puppy the adopted from here 2 years ago. For her that was the highlight of her experience because it saved her puppies life (poor thing had pneumonia) and helped save the cost of the vet bill. I know that people can have a negative opinion about pet stores just because they say there are so many other dogs out their that can be adopted. Well my Sherlock was in this store and needed to be adopted just the same as any other puppy out there. I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm glad we found Sherlock at Puppy Avenue.

DO NOT BUY PUPPIES FROM THIS PLACE... they sell sick puppies and hide any previous medical history or procedures done before purchase. We bought our dog, Winchester (a Cavalier) from Puppy Avenue, and he died when he was only 1, due to a genetic illness. He never weighed more than 9 pounds no matter what we did, and he was constantly in and out of the vet because of mucous build up in his lungs. My husband worked at a vet, so he had 24/7 professional care, and he still died at a year old. On top of that, shortly after getting him, our vet found a scar on his tummy from what she guessed was a surgery to fix a hernia that he had when he was a young puppy... normal she said, but what disturbed her and all of us was the fact that none of this was recorded on his medical information that Puppy Avenue gave us. We spent thousands of dollars in his care to try and make him better, not to mention experiencing terrible heartbreak when our baby died so young. After he died we contacted the owner, which was just an absolute waste of time and breath, because he refused to do anything. All we asked was that if he couldn't compensate us for the sale price of our dog, he could at least help cover some of the medical bills that we had countless of from Winchester. Even our vet wrote a personal letter to the owner because she was so disturbed that he would a.) even sell a dog that was so obviously sick, and b.) that he refused to give any kind of compensation. It's been two years now and we haven't gotten back a penny, and the owner has completely written us off. To sum up, this place is extremely shady in regards to hiding their puppies' medical histories, and the owner is a scam artist who will do absolutely nothing when the sick dogs that he sells you (at exorbitant prices no less!) die when they are only babies. This place needs to be shut down and the owner needs to be stuck with a hefty lawsuit.

We found our keeper!…read more I had heard about Katz 4 Keeps many times over the last few years; and through his job my husband had helped Mary (the owner) several times but we had never actually visited the facility. While we had been thinking about bringing home a new family member for some time, when we were finally ready this was one of the first places we looked. The facility is impressive. There are different rooms (divided by age) for kittens, young cats and adults. They have an isolation area for new cats and for when any of their current 'residents' get sick. For as many 'boarders' as they have it is surprisingly clean. All I can say is Mary is the epitome of a cat lady, but not the crazy kind. She loves what she's doing and she loves every single feline friend. If you're considering adopting a cat (of any age) please definitely put these ladies on your list. The program they've established is quite impressive and I wouldn't recommend anyone else.

I found Just Like Home on a google search and called the owners. They were very accommodating and let me come by immediately for a meet and greet. Paul and Katie were very friendly and reassuring. My dogs took to them and had a blast during the short encounter. So, I boarded my dogs with them for a night the next day. Some things I'd like to highlight is that they have a spacious fenced in yard and a doggie door so the dogs can come and go as they please. My little brats could learn how to be dogs in a pack. Food is included and provided. They provide high quality grain free food that my dogs love and they leave it out so the dogs can graze. This is good if your dog eats when it's hungry. However, my dogs, being puggles, ate non-stop and Paul and Katie had to put the food up. They just fed my dogs like pigeons throughout the day instead. This is something you might want to consider if your dog has special dietary needs and will eat everything in sight. But apart from one of my dogs overeating till his all you can eat buffet was thwarted, all is good. Oh Katie is a nurse and she's able to put eye drops or whatever your dog needs. My dogs are fine, but it's something you might want to consider when picking a boarding place for your dogs. Best part about Just Like Home is that the dogs can go on the furniture and sleep with humans. My dogs lay on Paul and Katie and watched tv and slept with Paul at night. (Sorry, Paul, I know my dogs are walking heat packs.) I'm relieved that my dogs can get the human contact and attention that they crave. I don't have to feel bad that they are crying in a suite at some other boarding place. When I went to pick the dogs up, one of them came up to greet me, then ran back off to play with his friends. He didn't want to leave. The other one is a total momma's boy, so he stayed by me while we tried let the first one know that it was time to go home. Also, the rates here are very reasonable. I'll definitely take my dogs there again if I need to board them while I'm in Jacksonville.

Katie helped my little almost blind AnnieRose learn to use a doggie door and navigate some little steps into the house. I usually resist the retail temptations here, as I am always immediately lured into the second section of the store which houses all of the yelping, fuzzy, pups. There are a good number of beautifully kept pens here, most of them open so the potential pup parent can gaze lovingly into their potential new additions brown eyes. A lot of the really small pups, Yorkies and Chihuahua's, have lids on their pens. But, the staff here is really knowledgeable and willing to chat in depth about all of their temporary adoptees. And this schmoozing with the staff allows you the opportunity to hold or even play with these furry babies. The negative element, aside from the whole potential encouragement of puppy mill proliferation -(Wow, say that 5 times fast!), is that the pups are incredibly expensive.
