Love it here! A great location with side walks to walk your dog around & sightsee around. I bring my big boy doggy (80lb) here for his nails cut & dremel but I only see Carsten to cut his nails, her confident energy with my boy is great, my boy can sense when some one is intimidated by him & he will pull stunts on the groomer by not letting the groomer cut his nails. There was a day I walked in but Carsten was off & agreed to another groomer but he pulled stunts on her. So never again only Carsten will cut my boys nails and she has for a couple years. read more

We took our Newfoundlands there for a bath and a blow dry - and they shaved them to the skin. I understand needing to shave legs or parts of the undercarriage due to matting. They are big fluffy dogs and even the best brush can't always make it through the double coat. This was a whole body shave at the absolute lowest setting they could muster. To add insult to injury - they didn't even do a good job with that and left random patches, burns, and razor burn. So now we are left with dogs that may or may not grow their coats back, who are itching like crazy and a $90 vet visit to help them heal. I am giving a 2 because the owner did apologize and gave me a full refund - so at least that is something. Bottom line: if you care about your dogs - take them somewhere else. read more

If only there were cameras in this place to show how pets are being handled. My dear friend took her adorable little Shitzu Oliver to this groomer 8/15/2020. I've been with this little dog since he was a puppy. I even named him. He's like my second child. The happiest dog I've ever been around in my entire life, and that number exceeds 100, given I was with big dog rescue in Atlanta & Tallahasee. Anyway, when Oliver was picked up on Saturday, he was crying all the way home. The first time I've ever heard him cry. Once home, he stayed under the bed all day and would not come to anyone. He did not eat for the next day and a half. It was quite obvious this dog was terrified and improperly handled. My friend ended up taking Oliver to our vet, Who has been caring for Oliver since he was a puppy. It was all so apparent to the vet that Oliver was emotionally traumatized. No one needs a Camera to have proof that their pet has been traumatized, it only allows us to see what caused it. Oh- my friend called the lady at Lubas Grooming on Park. She wanted to know what happened to her dog. The lady patronized the dog owner and verbalized that Oliver's behavior is normal for after being groomed. If I was looking for a groomer and saw 500 positive reviews on quality of grooming and one recent review like mine, I would never take my dog there!!!! This kind of abuse is notorious and salons. I wish it was required that they have video cameras in case, anything happens to an animal. read more

Safe, friendly, and excellent groomer! I called this morning and was able to get a same day appointment for my two dogs. I knew when they told me of the drop off procedures I knew I made the right choice in finding somewhere I would feel confident was taking appropriate COVID19 safety measures. They have a crate procedure on the porch that ensures that the space within the business remains as uncontaminated as possible. They wear masks, gloves, and have plenty of hand sanitizer available, and do contactless payment. Even better is they are efficient, do great work, and have great rates. My dogs can be very anxious and though they were at drop off, they were clearly calm and comfortable during their time there judging by how relaxed they were at pickup. Meet Roxie. A 14 year old Pomeranian. Who has separation anxiety and going to the groomers has always been hard for her and staff. Poor old lady needed a bath and a haircut, it's getting warmer and she was giving herself one. We've used Luba's before for our CKC Spaniels and that experience was wonderful. I was worried about bringing Roxie. Not because I doubted them but I know Roxie can be a challenge. This groom happened during the stay home order - Luba's process to drop off, pay and pick up - easy, easy, easy!! Got a call to make the payment and I listened for the telltale barking of Roxie and her anxiety in the background, nothing. I asked how she was doing and was told she was doing just fine and hanging out in front with staff. Two and a half hours after drop off it was time to come pick her up. She was brought to the porch and put in the kennel per social distancing and Kathy stayed at the door talking to her until I got closer. Roxie was calm! I've never seen her calm after a groom. She was treated so well at Luba's. Besides taking their time with her bath, cut and treatment, how she left is what makes this review so important to me. They took care of my dog. And for that 10/10 I recommend them! read more

I used to go to a different place in Riverside to get my pups groomed, but now I only go to Luba's. Reasons include--often able to get a same day appointment if not next day, prices are fair ($55 for full groom for my small breed dog), and I almost always see Luba when I come in and it's nice to get to know the person grooming your family members. Additionally, I never have a difficult time finding parking, and I always leave with a couple of gourmet treats for the pups. I highly recommend bringing your pets to Luba! read more

UPDATE: After the response, I think I'm actually more frustrated. 1.) I'm floored that you had a cut severe enough that you had to apply Quikstop and didn't inform us when I specifically asked at pick up if there were any issues. Had you said something, we could have made sure we crated her for the night to avoid blood all over the carpet. 2.) As I stated in the original review, we CARRIED her to the car because it was raining. We also carried her in the house. So it was not the rain that opened the cut again. If you'd like to verify, I'm sure you could check your camera footage from five months ago which shows us carrying her out. 3.) My phone was suddenly disconnected?!? I had other calls and voicemails from that specific day with no issue, I find it VERY interesting that you are the one call that could not get through. I also provided two possible phone numbers - my work and cell - so there is that option as well. 4.) Our vet had already informed us to try cornstarch before we called your business, because we were more concerned about her safety than bothering you. We did try corn starch before we brought her into the vet, but it didn't work. And there was still blood. Everywhere. ‍ This all could have been solved had you not lied in the first place, and then continued to dig an even deeper hole by continuing that in your response. I've actually decided to downgrade to one star. read more

My dog has always been terrified to get groomed. Between the clippers and the blow dryers, and the fact that he weighs five pounds, he always has a rough time and squirms a ton. We took him to Luba's for the first time on Thursday, unsure what to expect but knowing all of the glowing reviews. In two hours they gave him an incredible full body cut and left him looking wonderful. They said he did a good job, and he was returned to me happy and tail wagging instead of the usual shaking and scared. This will definitely be our new grooming option in Jacksonville. read more

I've taken my Portuguese Waterdog here 3 times. Finding a groomer who can do a decent groom on these dogs is not an easy task in Jacksonville. I finally found one that understands they're not grooming a poodle or a doodle. Over time her grooming got better and better so I was overall very pleased until today. I waited almost a week for an appointment and brought her in at 8am. I asked about what time she would be done ( not the groomer, I think the owner) and was told it would take 4 hours, which was the usual amount of time. She had a vet appointment at 2:00 so I knew we'd get there in plenty of time. When I hadn't gotten a call to pick her up by 1:00 and no one picked up the phone when I called, I drove over to see what was happening. I was told by the groomer that she wasn't done (she had had a bath, because an "Express" appointment had come in which took presidance over the "regular" appointment. I was informed the "express appointment" is $25 more than the regular appointment. By this time my dog had been there for 5 hours and wouldn't be finished for at least two more , I suppose unless another "Express" appointment showed up. I was never informed it would take all day or that a "Express appointment " was even a thing. I assume they don't give potty breaks because she immediately has to pee when she gets out and drinks a bowl of water when she gets home. I think it's very inhumane to keep a dog crated all day, especially a larger breed waiting to be groomed. If there had been an emergency it would have been understandable but for an extra twenty five bucks, really!! I would have paid the extra money if I had know this would happen. I was told I could come back tomorrow to have her groomed, which wouldn't have worked for me. I was then charged $50 for the bath. The groomer said she was sorry which I appreciated, I'm sure it wasn't her fault, it's a management decision I'm sure. read more

After a week long drive across country my dogs were in need of a good bath and grooming, and thanks to Luba's Pet Grooming Studio they received spa like treatment. I have a Olde English Bulldog, and a Boston Terrier so they didn't need hair trims but included with their bath was anal gland expression, nail trim, a massage, and I was able to pick from a variety of perfumes they had available at the end. At pickup I was very pleased with the appearance of my babies they were so soft and shiny and so cute with their new accessories (a flower on the collar of my bulldog, and a bandana for my male Boston terrier) gifted from Luba's. The staff was great and knowledgeable about the skin care needs of bulldogs (I really appreciated them asking about shampoo preferences), the facility was cute and clean, I would definitely bring my dogs back whenever we are in town visiting. read more

I have never been so dissatisfied with a groomer service in my life. I have had dogs all my life. For 30 years I went to the same groomer,she was reliable, truthful and loved the dogs. She and her staff were professional, no rudeness and sassy attitude ever. This grooming service is only interested in doing what they can get by with. The cut my dog wrong for the 3rd time. No continuity in service, always an excuse for something they did or didn't do. From now on I will not ever give this groomer as a reference for service. read more

I took my 2 mini labradoodles there last week for a mini cut. It was also 1 of my dogs first cut as she is a puppy. When I got my dogs backs my older dogs cut was horrible. I had people tell me how awful she looked. I took her back to the groomer I used before 1 week later to get her cut fixed!! My groomer Said she was matted in several spots crazy how luba's did not take care of that when she was there. Thank goodness my groomer was able to fix her up. Disappointed and will not return. I have tolerated far too much on how rude LUBA (owner) is when I retrieve my dogs. This time it was my 15 year Schnauzer's vestibular condition (which I told her employee initially upon delivery) and that he couldn't stand straight and she therefore doesn't want to groom him in the future bc of the liability. WOW! Previously, she said in front of customers that my Westie was far too thin (after I buy high end dog food Origen from her.) Awful customer service. I brought our 4 month standard poodle puppy to get her very first hair cut with Luba. I dropped her off before work and picked her up right after. She looked absolutely beautiful! While this place was clean, it was overbooked for Christmas Eve and our dog did not get the kennel we reserved and were promised. Instead she was put in a playpen in the grooming room with a screaming bird. The owner is rude and aloof and very defensive. We won't be boarding here ever again. read more

I have taken my clients dogs they are to be groomed several times. One time when I went to go pick up all three of the dogs. I was given a totally wrong dog. Then when they brought the correct dog out to me. She had the wrong collar and tags on her. Then weeks later when we went back to have her groomed. She was burnt very badly.Not one time did they tell us that she had been burned by the clippers. The dog had to be treated at the bit for second and third-degree burns. I would not recommend this place at all. If I could give them zero stars I would. We went to complain they acted like we couldn't understand what they were saying.
