Our experience first started with their website in the adoptable dog section, which is updated every hour. Saturday was our first time here. We arrived promptly at opening at 10am. There was already 6 cars waiting at the gate. Such a busy place! The volunteers were all very helpful. We were able to see the dog we had in mind, but another couple had their eye on him first so we went to see the other dogs in the back. Everyone was so kind and personable. After 5-10min, the original volunteer told us the couple left and did not adopt the doggo we were looking at so we got to adopt him within the hour. All dogs are neutered/spayed, bordatella, flea treatment, heart worm tested, and given a few other vaccines. They are also microchipped. I felt the staff had genuine care for these pets and wanted the best for them. Thank you again! read more

I got my two previous babies from here! From what I've seen they treat their animals well and it's very appreciated that before adoption the pets come neutered. Whenever people ask me how I got my cat I tell them that I got her for $7 from my local shelter, and $2 of those dollars where for a box to carry her in. read more

Wonderful what you guys do but I hate that the dogs sit in the heat all day!!! They need AC or more fans at the very least... baby pools with water? Something. There is so way this heat is safe for them with no airflow in those rooms. read more

Very helpful . So far ...just doesn't have a dog a want to adopt. I'm looking for a smaller dog. Under 40 pounds

A little over 2 years ago, we found our boy Will. He had some big shows to fill since our hearts were still hurting from losing our dog. But Will was perfect. He's a graduate of the FIDO project. If you don't know what that is look it up! He's so well behaved and so loving. And he LOVES other dogs! A little over a month ago, we contacted Wendy and her team because Will wanted a playmate. They immediately recommended Darlene (who we now call Grace - how could we not). They knew they would be a perfect match because they knew both personalities. Of the thousands of dogs they have known in 2 years and the hundreds of dogs they care for each day, they matched these two together and I was love at first sight. We thought it would be a few months before they were snuggling but it's only been a few weeks and they now hate being apart. We recommend MCAS and the FIDO project daily. read more

It would be nice If the director of AC would acknowledge your messages and emails, and have the curtacy to answer you. It tells you what kind of irresponsible, unprofessional person this really is. No wonder this place is a unorganized mess. You all have come a long way but you have a long way to go. I hope and pray someday that Marion County brings on board a professional, aggressive management team. Marion County has major pet/animal issues. What a wonderfully maintained facility run by a very caring staff. After seeing a posting for a dog that my daughter thought she might like to adopt, we visited the shelter. We were pleased to see an immaculate shelter and well cared for animals. It was love at first sight when we saw the dog. He went to his new home that day and what a very good dog he is. Had a good experience here adopting my sweet pup - appreciate the care they take with antibacterial solution even on shoes going into the kennels to avoid spreading kennel cough and other insidious shelter illnesses; the website was continuously updated to show current adoptees, and my dog was relatively healthy, vaccinated, microchipped, and healing nicely from her spay. Everyone was quite nice and obviously cared about the animals there. Plus, I got a wonderful companion animal for a mere $50 donation that goes towards a good cause - sure beats paying $300-$500 for a sickly animal from the puppy mills. read more

The few interactions we've had with Animal Services we have seen clean facilities, and polite caring staff. In getting out her shot records, I am reminded our dear Hannah is now 16 yrs old. She is not as spry as when we adopted her from your facility at about 6 months of age. She is a dear thing, has been a lot of company to us and to our other dogs, has taught pups good dog manners, and killed 38 coral snakes in our yard (of which I know). That's NOT what I had in mind for her to do here, though I consider her our guardian angel and a delight in our lives. I couldn't even look any further that morning, as I spoke to her and she came a runnin' and "talking" back to me at the gate of her kennel run. She had us at "hello." One of the best dogs we've ever had. Thank y'all for having a forever friend for us to adopt that day. Lastly, y'all spayed sweet Scarlett, one of our rescues from out of town. You microchipped her and took good care of her, at an extremely reasonable price. She's grown up into a beloved, healthy, happy girl who brings joy to everyone. God bless your kind hearts. read more
