We have had an overall great experience with the dog den. We've been taking our dog there for about…read morea year and a half now. He's a large (~80 lbs) coonhound who is fine around other dogs, but has some anxiety challenges with people. He's also real loud and tends to make lots of noise when he's left alone. He's boarded there a bunch of times, once for over a week. We always include the day care option for him, which is an extra cost but worth it for him to have the outdoor time (they have a fenced area that I believe they use specifically for day care) and socialization with other dogs. This is the only place we've boarded him, but we tried some other day care options in town and have been happiest with the Dog Den. The staff there knows what they're doing with our dog, and it's helped us to feel confident leaving him there. He started off feeling very nervous during drop-off, but now is excited to go and knows exactly what to do. I've seen some negative reviews about experience with staff there. The guy in charge is direct, which sometimes comes off as gruff. I get the impression he likes dogs more than people, and frankly I'm totally fine with that because he knows his stuff around dogs. I've seen him directly correct some staff behavior that made my dog uncomfortable (see anxiety mentioned above), simply by quickly observing his body language and understanding his specific needs. Other places have failed in this where the Dog Den succeeded. That's not to say the other staff there performs poorly, I've always been extremely happy with everyone there (he LOVES Carly- she's amazing and I hereby advocate for her raise). Just that my dog, like many dogs, has some specific needs. We'll continue to recommend the dog den for both day care and boarding, even though it's sort of out of the way for us. In my experience, their staff has shown to be very competent and professional with the animals in their care.

Here is the real truth, after reading this maybe you should wonder what is really going on with…read moreyour pet??? My experience ended with my dog dying. My dog has been gone from us for a year now but the pain is still there. I should have know when I first walked in because the place was disgusting. I get the fact that pets are being taken care of there but the smell was horrible. I made the mistake of leaving our family member with him(Reggie) because I had know other choices never again. My dog's behavior changed while in his custody he was responsible for my dog self being.. I should have been called the moment he noticed his behavior changed we should have been call(Hey your dog is not doing well you may want to get him to a Vet). Not him when I got there is when he noticed his behavior because he was not taking care of checking on him like a professional care taker does.. He came out and told me "something is wrong with Achilles". My dog could not move, could not walk I had to carry him to the truck and he passed a day later. If a person leaves their pet with you there are expectations we expect you to meet like feeding, well being they are your responsibility at the time you take that leash. So for me I wouldn't leave a dead rat in his care, he needs to be shut down!!! If you really love your pet leaving it with him put their life in jeopardy!!!

I an so grateful to have been referred to Lisa and her team at Moongazer as a first-time puppy mom…read more We had dogs growing up, but I needed guidance to give my 3 lb bundle of fluff a proper understanding of how to communicate and behave in the world. They have a great, spacious facility at Moongazer, and Lisa was extremely knowledgeable. Our classes were always well-attended, but segregated small and large breeds so the little guys did not get pounced on. There were staff attending to each group to provide individual assistance or advice as needed. My dog graduated Puppy Kindergarten w a certificate, and in that class had mastered virtually all the requirements to go on to be certified as a Therapy Dog in healthcare settings. This was many years ago, and sadly my little guy has passed, but some of my fondest memories of him as a tiny puppy were at Moongazer. In fact, I followed Lisa's recommendations for nutrition brands; years later we realized that had my guy not been on these formulas, he would have succumbed to his latent chronic illness much earlier than the 16yrs we were blessed with him. I saved all the weekly skills training handouts, and feel confident that with these, in addition to our experience at Moongazer, I can train a canine companion in the future. I live across the country now, but was thrilled to find that Moongazer is still thriving all these years later! Peace & blessings for many more years helping animals to train their humans!! ;)

Should not mix dogs of all ages in the same class; puppies should not be in the same class as older dogs. Dog training club is a much much better option because you actually get to work with your dog instead of sitting in a chair listening to someone for an hour.

Zero stars is more appropriate!…read more My daughter's sweet dog was severely stressed and vomiting and had diarrhea as soon as he came home from being groomed there. The groomer he had previously had quit and the groomer that day said she was overwhelmed, and even though his appointment was at 10am it would be 3pm or later before I could pick him up. He is now at the U of I vet, on an iv, and being treated for dehydration. More tests will be run Monday, so he has to stay at the hospital for two nights. Do NOT take your dog there for grooming or boarding! The place is filthy and the customer service is terrible. Their kennel dogs were stuck outside in the heat. I could hear them all yelping and felt so sorry for them. I should have turned around and immediately left. If you just drive by the place, you will keep on going! It is NOT worth the convenience to go there. They should pay the vet bill too! I am so upset for my daughter and her dog. I am convinced this place mistreats the animals entrusted to them! Go to grooming by Jessica instead!

Please let me preface this review by saying that I do not usually give 1 star reviews. That being…read moresaid, I would give this place a zero if I could. I made the appointment and came to drop off my dogs at 8 am. When I saw the outside of the place I wanted to just keep driving, and I just should have listened to my instincts. This place should be called the Pet Shack because its literally a dirty, run down shack. We came in and there was no one around. We waited and still no one and then finally we saw a little plastic door bell to ring for service. Eventually someone came down. This was not the groomer so I had to tell this person what to tell the groomer. They weren't rude, but weren't friendly either. What really got me was how run down and filthy the place was, I felt bad for the dogs that were boarding there because their cages were gross and had excrement laying all over the place. There was dog hair all over the front room floor, like big piles of hair, as if the floor had not been swept in a while. I really should have left at that point but I didn't, the dogs needed to be cut so I just gave in. I came back at noon to uneven and choppy cuts. I will never take my dogs here again and I feel guilty that I ever took them there to begin with. I should have read the reviews on Google because there are similar experiences posted on there. I don't know how anyone could ever call this place clean.
