Great chocolate store. I think they still make their own custom candy bars (with fillings). They're closed on Sundays. The map shows them as being on N Street in Hull, but they're actually on North St in Hingham.

Update: we clearly had a weird one off issue. These sea salt caramels are exceptional, especially the dark chocolate.

Hilliards Candy is that South Shore stalwart that you may have forgotten until you really need it!…read moreIt's been in the area for, well, forever! and for my family at least, it's been bringing sweet treats for about 40 years. A few years ago the store moved from the cramped space in Norwell at Assinippi Corners to a fresh, larger building right at Queen Anne Corner on Rt. 53, across from Alfredo Aiello. It manages to have to same cozy feeling as the old store when you walk in and are surrounded by whatever seasonal chocolates are displayed, plus the cases full of chocolates, truffles, jelly beans, foil-wrapped chocolates - everything! It's a given that the big holidays - Christmas, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day - have everything and everything you could want to make a sweet tooth happy. I've spent many visits to Hilliards picking up waaaay too much candy for big holidays as well as the smaller ones (St. Patrick's Day, Fourth of July, Halloween) because "I need to bring candy to work!" More like, "I need to bring candy home!" Displays are fresh and full, the prices won't make you blink- think delicious without breaking the bank - and the staff is low key helpful rather than hard sell. I especially like that since I like to roam around, walking the hardwood floor, shopping the one-for method: one for you, one for me. One for you, one for . . . well you get it! Lots of parking in the back of the building, so look past the teeny 3-space area in front and just follow the arrows to the back door-and sometimes there're samples!

I got a small milk hot chocolate and it was very tasty! It was rich and decadent, but still had a good amount of sweetness. I also thought it was the perfect balance of being thick and still drinkable. If I lived in Boston, I would be frequenting this shop especially during the winter.

Yelp Review 2026 #216:…read more Call me a snob but I don't like American chocolates. They're too sweet, doesn't give you a nice thick mouthfeel and they smell funky. I heard L.A. Burdick has high standards when making their chocolates by hand - similar to chocolatiers in Europe. So, I bookmarked this place and followed them on social media. I learned this location has ice cream as well. I was shopping and walking along Boylston/ Newbury. Had dinner at a restaurant in the area and wanted to grab some chocolates from L.A. Burdick after. The map app had us walking along some shady alley that stunk of hot garbage and piss which made me wonder if it's even worth it. I get to the shop and swarms of World Cup fans also had the same idea to come here. They have a counter for chocolates, a counter for ice cream, and a dining area. I just had a big dinner with dessert so, my plan of getting ice cream had to be ixnayed. They have truffles, bon bons, drinking chocolate (in white, milk and dark), whole cakes, cake slices, cookies, linzer torte, fruit tart, and macarons/ Luxembourger. I got a box of chocolates. Some truffles and animal-shaped chocolates because I know those are their specialty and proudly handcraft. They're good - comparable to European chocolates. They put your selections in a box and wrap it up nicely and put it in a bag. So, it takes time. Be patient.

This was a very pleasant surprise!…read more For my birthday last year, a chocolate-making class was promised as a gift. Given constant traveling and life overall, we did not get to partake in a class of this type until Labor Day weekend in Boston. My companion set this up all by himself with the lovely Beth. Beth was very communicative, even giving us directions to her place, as well as to many of the attractions that the city of Boston has to offer. It was just us two, along with Beth and her husband Steve. They were so nice, making us feel very welcome in their home (because shockingly this is at their house!). Beth is a master at her craft. She's been making chocolate for years and it really shows. Her chocolate was so pretty and yummy. As for the actual chocolate-making class, we began with tasting chocolates from all around the world to then attempting to make our own. Have to say the chocolate was delicious and rich. Definitely not the type of thing you can eat all in one go unless you are a true chocolate lover. That said, this was quite fun and we took many goodies back home to Florida. Definitely something I would want to do again, and more so, Beth and Steve are such kind folk that you want to invite them out to lunch or something along those lines. Felt as if we were with friends.
