We visited the Penny Candy Store this morning on the recommendation of my Brothers-in-law, and thank goodness that they gave us the specific address and mentioned having been there recently because otherwise we would never have found it! The outside looks rather brown, boxy and boring, but when you open the doors you enter a magical space of smells, colors and nostalgia. The service is warm and friendly and yet they do not "hover". My kids were allowed to walk around picking and choosing at their leisure, and left very happy with each their big plastic bag full of candy for a total of $28! We were super happy and will come back next time we are in the area. :-) read more

Love this place... always have since we discovered it a few years ago.. Unfortunately was there last weekend... spent about $60 bucks. Got a box of Whatshamacallit candy bars... Date says till dec 2021... but whole box is hard.. so disappointing... don't quite know what to do... read more

Candy, Candy and even MORE Candy! Three big rooms of it, and pretty much everything you can think/imagine/dream of (although the one thing I was hoping for was not in the store; I called first, but still decided to check this out). Individual bars of things you can find elsewhere, and some you haven't seen in ages (Mary Janes, Squirrel Nuts), Boston Fruit Slices (THE BEST brand, IMHO) in all of the flavors.... and just a lot to look at. As someone else mentioned, some of the things you can find cheaper elsewhere, but if you are looking for particular colors and a lot of it (a shower, birthday party, wedding, etc) this would just be easier. There are also some online places that sell these items, but when you factor in shipping and then wonder what might happen to the candy during seasonal temperature changes, sometimes online candy ordering isn't the way to go. Trust me, I speak from experience. It turns out I have passed this place dozens of times; just off Route 1 on the Northbound side. read more

If you have an upcoming event adding a candy bar is a great touch. We bought.candy for our high school graduation party using ring pops as class rings, tootsie rolls as honor roll, starburst as shoot for the stars and nerds for nerds and gummy worms for book works. Everyone enjoyed the candy bar and The Penny Store had it all!!! read more

This little store is kind of tucked away on a side street in Sharon, MA, which I discovered simply because I worked down the street from it! I would occasionally take a short walk during lunch down the street whenever I had a sweet tooth! They literally have every single kind of candy you have ever seen, heard of, or can even name. Plus a million more that you have NEVER seen, heard of, or can name! They have all the kinds of candy you had when you were a kid that you thought disappeared from the world, but the reality is, this store has it, WalMart doesn't. Plus they have tons of chocolate and nuts. They don't just sell candy! The only downside is that the candy is not wholesale prices and kind of expensive. They sell manufacturer wrapped items at somewhat cheaper prices in singles, but they also have their own containers of candy and chocolate treats that are packaged at their facility that are expensive. For example, I bought a 10 Oz container of salted almonds for $8. Overall, this place is a delight! If you are looking to buy candy in bulk for an event or wedding, this is definitely the place to go to find everything you are looking for. Especially for people who are very particular and are looking for certain things that can't be found at the supermarket. read more

If you buy the product, like I have in the PAST at CVS, then you'll want to read this. This review is about the *IDIOT* who answered the phone. He said he was the owner. I know they have a regular store in Sharon or Dedham, but they also have a stand with small bags of most likely their best selling candies at select stores like many CVS stores and a few other places. Twice a month I would buy the cavalier fruit slices. 9 slices in a bag for $2.59....I know...crazy, but it was a treat. About 8 months ago, the stand was gone at every CVS. About 4 months later it returned, but in an obscure location, but my favorite was back. You wonder why they disappeared for months? They call it redesigning or repackaging the product. Yes, no redesigning, but less product. Still 2.59, but went from 9 slices down to 7. That is .37cents a slice. I phoned the number on the package and just asked to speak to customer service. I don't want to tell you of my experience, but the OWNER answered the phone and tried to bully me. Call for yourself. You'll never buy this product again. 781-784-1600 read more

This place was a fantastic find! I'm planning a candy buffet for my wedding and this was a total jackpot for finding specialty candies in my party colors. They were so friendly and helpful. Only downside is it didn't seem super cheap, but it was worth it for me to get the specialty things that I couldn't find at walmart or sams club. Horrible candy. I purchased some candy yesterday. Some of the jelly beans had no flavor, others were disgusting flavors, most were old and hard. My guess is the retail store is where they get rid of the old inventory from their wholesale side. There are better stores in Norwood (Furlongs), Dedham (at the Legacy Place) and Mansfield. read more

Went to the store this morning! It is amazing , well worth the drive, the women working was so helpful . I bought a large amount of candy for a candy bar baby shower. Was very happy with the huge selection and pleasantly surprised when I got to the check out, I expected to spend so much more then I did. Will go back anytime, loved this store read more
