Owners Eva and Jim are awesome and have operated the bed and breakfast for many years now and it was such a pleasure to meet them during my stay as well as meet their family and super cute energetic smaller terrier dogs. I was in the Papaya Suite and definitely plenty of space, with a separate bedroom, kitchen bathroom, and the living room! And did I mention, the great breakfast food and other snacks in the provided basket as well as fresh fruit, cereal, milk and other items inside the refrigerator and freezer? Definitely saved me time and money from having to drive to the nearest bakery or market! Yes, this is a real Bed & Breakfast and definitely worth every dollar! There are three other suites available for booking and there is usually no minimum stay required except during certain times of the year like the holiday season or special local events, for instance. Also, guests are offered a 10% discount if they pay in check/cash versus charging to their credit/debit card, and I opted to provide Eva with the check. You will also find two common areas, and one of them is right outside the Papaya Room on the ground level where there are other tables, chairs, and a BBQ. The other common area is upstairs on the lanai, where there are more tables and chairs, and ultimately a lovely view of Kihei and the West Maui Mountains! Definitely would love to come back and stay at Maui What A Wonderful World Bed and Breakfast for the next stay in Kihei and South Maui!

Our hosts were Eva and Jim and they were more than generous with the breakfast and amenities at their home. During our stay in the Pineapple suite, the restroom/kitchenette/bedroom were organized and had plenty of space for two people. It was easy to feel at home within the first few minutes after settling in. Eva was easily accessible for questions about the island/ local recommendations and was more than accommodating for our breakfast options (fresh local fruit, pastries, coffee, etc.). There was also onsite laundry, swim gear, and sunscreen/mosquito repellent. Whatever Eva was managing with guests, we also observed that Jim kept up with quick repairs/maintenance on the property. My partner's favorite part of this stay was the fruit and their dogs!!! I too loved their fur babies in addition to the view from the second floor deck (phenomenal during sunset). We are truly impressed with the hospitality and welcome that these seasoned hosts provided.

The B&B part is a spacious guest house with a living room, bedroom with small kitchenette, and an interesting bathroom arrangement...the toilet and shower are in a glassed in enlcosure looking out over the jungle! The estate is spacious and has some incredible views of the ocean and cliffs south of Hana. It's not a beach resort but there are already plenty of those around Maui and this place offers something unique and special. The best part of this place is how incredibly private it is, there are no other tourists around. Arabella is a lovely and gracious hostess who is quite interesting to talk to. There are a few minor problems...lots of gnats in the bathroom, a toaster oven that only half works, a very excitable puppy (who Arabella is happy to restrain if she gets too rambunctious), and a lack of a stove/oven. Still, there is a functioning propane grill, a rice cooker, and a microwave so it's possible to make a tasty meal for yourself on the premises, just do come prepared. These are actually relatively minor problems, I highly recommend this space and will definitely come back next time I visit Maui.

I especially loved the garden and patio area - it's a perfect spot to relax with coffee or snacks. While breakfast is no longer served, there is a comfortable indoor dining area available for guests to use. There's also a small room in the main building stocked with coffee and cream pods, ice, snacks, and even sunscreen, which was a thoughtful touch. We stayed in a ground floor room toward the back of the property, which felt very private and cozy. The room was lovely and included a Keurig with coffee pods, which I appreciated. The only minor downside was noise from upstairs, we could hear footsteps/furniture or suitcases being moved fairly clearly. It didn't bother us much, but light sleepers may want to keep that in mind.

Although our wedding itself was held offsite, the inn became the heart of our entire celebration - a place where our families could connect, relax, and spend meaningful time together. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the beautiful interior design.. it is curated, warm, and full of character. The bedrooms were spacious, clean, and incredibly well stocked with everything guests could need. The robes and snacks in each room were so thoughtful. The grounds are just as special. The gardens are lush and peaceful, and the outdoor furniture is so stylish. One of our favorite touches was the "Aloha Room," which was so thoughtfully equipped with water, snacks, hot water, a microwave, and even sunscreen..details like this really set the inn apart. We were also fortunate to host a small dinner onsite, and the ambiance was truly stunning - intimate, elegant, and quintessentially Maui. Every single guest staying at the inn commented on how much they loved their room, which speaks volumes. Breakfast each morning was lovely, and Lupe, the housekeeper, was incredibly attentive and kind throughout our stay. What truly elevated the experience, however, was the level of service. Ramu went above and beyond in every way - accommodating our special requests, always being available, and communicating with us seamlessly throughout the entire process. The level of care and responsiveness was exceptional. Parking was easy and ample. This is truly a hidden gem on Maui. If you're looking for a place to gather with loved ones in a setting that is both beautiful and deeply welcoming, you simply cannot do better. 10/10, we would recommend it without hesitation.

We enjoy being able to cook in our room so that we don't miss the sun rise or the sun set. This location has the best sunsets! You will get to know the staff as they are all friendly and accommodating. Jose will point out whales that are breaching; Teres will share "love and kindness" by making sure you are comfortable and have everything you need and Wade will make sure everything is in perfect working order. The grounds are pristine with the sound of waves and birds chirping and the ducks will greet you each morning in the plunge pools. We made it to Makawao and took shelter on a shop porch. After a few hours of waiting for the storm to pass, we realized that it wasn't going to happen and started trying to find nearby lodging for the night. After calling several places that were either too far away or closed due to covid, we tried The Banyan Tree and the owner Helaina took pity on us and gave us the last room, even though it was extremely short notice and she was really busy dealing with the deluge of water on the property. She was so nice--met us in the downpour with fluffy dry towels and later offered to make us a pizza because she knew we didn't have a car to go get food. We stayed in one of the cottages with two beds and it was great. The beds were comfortable, there's a full, well-equipped kitchen, and it was just nice and clean and quiet. There's also a beautiful view of the valley from the garden and a huge, awesome-looking pool/cabana/hot tub area (although we obviously didn't get to use it). So highly recommend staying at the Banyan Tree, especially in the event of a severe multi-day rainstorm!
