Jeff is a wonderful human being who is caring empathetic and is a master of customer service. He is an outstanding problem solver. Jeff is warm, welcoming and attentive to detail. He is also fast and efficient. It is clear Jeff does the work of ten people and accomplishes it with style and grace. I'd say that it checked the boxes in…read moreevery regard that was important to me - convenience, great location, updated facilities, and family friendly. I came here late April 2026. When you first arrive and walk into the lobby, it is quite stunning. I don't know when their latest renovation was, but it feels updated within the past 7-8 years, modern but also keeping that nice Hawaiian touch. You're welcomed by several live plants and flowers covering the walls in the breezeway when you walk towards the front desk, and can spot a waterfall and koi pond. Rooms - As Marriott Bonvoy members, we luckily got upgraded to the room with view of ocean and expansive pool area - literally looks like the picture featured on this Yelp review. It's a stunning view. The room itself was also nicely updated! It felt modern, yet still cozy and inviting. We got 2 queens, and it seems that every room comes with a balcony. We all loved the balcony - great way to be outside and enjoy the weather, live music, and dry your swimsuits. Anyway, the room itself was very comfortable, and it's hard to find updated rooms in Maui for a somewhat decent price. I think my only complaint is that it was a bit small - it was ok for the 3 of us (2 adults + 1 toddler), but I can't imagine coming here as a family of 4 with teenagers, and have to squeeze into the small room. Swimming pools - there were several to choose from, including a designated kid's pool, regular pool, and adult only pools. They were each nicely designed and landscaped with the trees - there were several slides for each pool, and designed in such a way where you couldn't even notice them. Also, the adult pool was hidden, so little ones aren't tempted to access the adult only pool, and I'm sure it worked well the other way by not being able to hear the kids! The towel process was a little annoying. We were given several towel cards good for each towel. But the annoying thing was that we had to carry separate towel cards separate from our room key, that was a wristband. Might as well just combine the two to make it more convenient for guests? Not that it was a huge hinderance - just a suggestion. Beach access - you are basically right there, on a public beach. It was extremely convenient to be right there, grabbing our towels from the hotel and using them for the beach. If you want lounge chairs, umbrellas, etc. though, you will have to pay a fee to rent them. Obviously it's not as nice as other hotels that have that all set up for you, like we've experienced in other countries, but hey, it's just the Westin. Restaurants - There aren't too many restaurants to choose from here - but we did really enjoy the Hale Moʻolelo Restaurant/Bar. We didn't actually eat here at all, but enjoyed cocktails here every night. They have live music DAILY each evening, and welcome all ages, including our toddler. I was getting tired of the Hawaiian tiki drinks, started ordering regular cocktails, which were decent. The live music alone was wonderful each evening. There was also the Ulu Kitchen by Merriman's, which we were somewhat interested in trying, but never got around to it. Marriott Bonvoy members also get free breakfast with their stay. They did not have a designated breakfast restaurant, unfortunately, but rather they gave us credit for the convenience store that served hot food and other beverages. They had options such as Loco Moco, scrambled eggs and potatoes, acai bowls, spam masubi. Honestly it was all very disappointing food - my daughter really only liked the spam masubi that didn't seem worth it for one entree item. We did utilize the free beverage for bottled water each day though, which was convenient. Location - was wonderful too. It was located right next to Whaler's Village, which is a shopping center with lots of restaurants, coffee, an ABC store, etc. It's a short walk, and we walked here each morning to get coffee, have my toddler run around, and also walk around with her in the stroller during her naps. The hotel is also located with just a few minutes drive to Lahaina, where more restaurants were. Amenities - they have random pet parrots that come out during the daytime, which my daughter loved seeing each day. Fun to see the fish in the koi pond. Also, they have random vendors/activities in their breezeway where the shops are, including pineapple tasting, hat making, etc. which can be fun for the little ones. The arcade was also pretty amazing. Some of the games have this "play until you win" feature, which was really nice for all kids playing to win something. My daughter was hooked. Elevators can be slow. We found that the ones located on the side closest to the front desk were faster than the ones closer to the Arcade! Just realize that this place seemed like it was intended for families, but it was executed quite nicely. Would highly recommend.

They have almost nightly Luau activity till later than we sometimes stay up after getting up at sunset and a Long Beach day. It's fine to see and hear once but this is ridiculous. They also host huge corporate events that literally take over the whole place and make late noise. Rooms are tiny that we saw others in and staff is clueless. They let people have room parties until well into the morning keeping the whole floor loud even after asking their feckless security to handle it. Like 2am with 20 plus people in a little room and slider door open. Staff just began to hang up when called and it took going to the front desk and yelling a lot to affect the closure of one of these room parties. Good luck with the sea of crap around the pools too! We have stayed at the other Westin North before and it wasn't much better so we won't be staying at a Westin anytime In the future.

I was hoping to stay in the Napili Tower, mainly because I liked the pool area better--longer, more spread out, and largely oceanfront. That said, the Lahaina Tower ended up having its own perks. The biggest one is that it's right next to the self-parking structure that's used for the whole resort, which makes coming and going incredibly easy. If you're staying in the Napili tower, self-parking is all the way on the other side and I would recommend using valet instead to save you the walk. Our room was spacious and comfortable, technically "oceanfront," though it felt more like oceanview. Still, no complaints--the view was lovely, and the room itself had a convenient kitchenette with a fridge, sink, and all the basics (plates, utensils, etc.), which made snack time quick and easy. The Lahaina Tower also has its own smaller pool area, plus a few fun extras like ping pong and foosball. It's also right by Longhi's, if you're looking for an easy meal. If you want more action, the main pool area--with the large, winding pool and additional dining options--is just a short walk away. The weather during our stay wasn't the best--it was actually pretty chilly by Maui standards following the heels of two major storms--but we still had a great time. Between the comfortable room, convenient location, and easy access to everything on property, it made for a relaxed and low-effort getaway. While the resort may not be the newest, we really like the main pool area. I'll definitely opt for the Lahaina/Napili towers again next time. This is a great resort, especially for families looking for a laid-back Maui stay with nice views and plenty to do.

That said, some common items are definitely overpriced, and you can find better deals just a short walk or drive away. Still, the $50 all-you-can-drink option (coffee, tea, juice, and soda) was absolutely worth it -- super convenient and a great value for resort guests who want unlimited refills throughout the day good for the entire stay. Beautiful grounds, friendly staff, and an unbeatable location right on Kaanapali Beach. Just be prepared to spend a little more for the convenience.

The property is a large, open, tropical paradise filled with lush gardens, koi ponds, and an impressive variety of wildlife. The architecture blends Asian influences with classic Hawaiian touches, and I really enjoyed reading about the Hawaiian artifacts displayed throughout the resort. One unexpected highlight was the number of friendly feral cats wandering the grounds--my son made it his personal mission to track them down for pets. The hotel also hosts parrots and, believe it or not... penguins! Yes, penguins in Hawaiʻi. The resort participates in a species rehabilitation program for African Penguins and follows strict care guidelines. They offer daily feedings with a short presentation, and the staff were incredibly sweet and knowledgeable. My kids were absolutely captivated. We happened to visit during Halloween weekend, which is a big deal in Hawaiʻi--and Kāʻanapali was no exception. The hotel staff transformed the convention center into a full-blown haunted mental hospital. It was so spooky that my kids refused to go in... and honestly, I didn't want to go in either! Instead, we walked over to the Fisherman's Village for trick-or-treating, which was a great family-friendly option. I do wish we had made advance dinner reservations, though--the restaurant we ended up at nearby was not very good. We stayed in a room with two double beds, a patio, and a nice bathroom. Thanks to a Guest of Honor upgrade, we enjoyed an oceanview room overlooking the pools and beach, with stunning sunsets every night. The upgrade also gave us access to the Regency Club, where the complimentary breakfast was a wonderful perk. Small win of the trip: we bought a cooler bag from the hotel store for only seven dollars--my wife and I were very pleased with that find! LOL The pools are ultra fun and clearly designed with kids in mind. There's a suspension bridge, waterslides, and plenty of little adventures for them to get into--including a shave ice stand nearby. Beach gear rentals were pricier and more limited than I expected, but the beach itself is gorgeous. The waves were small during our stay, but the current was surprisingly strong. We brought our own snorkeling gear, and I had some of the best snorkeling I've done in years right in front of the hotel. Tip: Go early in the morning before the wind picks up and reduces visibility. We also attended the on-property lūʻau, Drums of the Pacific. It's definitely commercialized but still very well done. My kids loved the temporary tattoo station, and the entertainment overall was excellent. There were a few downsides, though. The host was hard to hear for much of the event, and the fire dancing portion--something my son had been excitedly waiting for based on the posters--was surprisingly short. He was a bit let down. Also, the Mai Tai drinks were extremely sweet and a bit light on the alcohol. We had lunch at the pool several times, and the options were surprisingly good. The kids were thrilled with their nuggets and burgers, and poolside service was attentive--especially when tipping generously. Every staff member I encountered was kind, courteous, and genuinely full of aloha. Their positive energy made our stay even better, especially compared to another hotel we stayed at during the trip. Although I would not attend the lūʻau again, we would absolutely stay here again

From the lobby's balcony, you look out at the beautiful landscaping, the fun pools, and the beautiful ocean staring right at you. The "Magical" Highlights Let's start with the highlights, because parts of this trip were truly breathtaking. * The Beach & Black Rock: The beach was absolutely stunning and surprisingly uncrowded. The most magical part of the entire trip was wading in the water at Black Rock. Two days in a row, I had two HUGE turtles swimming around me; it felt as if they were following me and playing with me. It was the most beautiful sight I've ever encountered. * The Staff: The staff deserves a medal. Every person greets you with a "Happy Aloha" that feels genuine. My husband and I felt like we'd been best friends with the poolside bartender for years. * Housekeeping: The housekeeping staff was absolutely amazing. Every time we came back to our room, it was pristine and very clean. I made sure to leave a $10 tip every day just to let our housekeeper know that we truly appreciated her service. * The Drink: Order the "Put the Lime in the Coconut." It's $22, but it became my very best friend. The Room & The View The hallways leading to the rooms are a tad bit outdated, as are the rooms themselves. However, you are only spending about 5 to 10% of your time in your room anyway. * The Mountain View: We had a room facing the golf course, which offered the most beautiful mountain views. * The Balcony: Our balcony was only big enough to sit one person, but I truly enjoyed sitting out there every morning with my coffee. It's not worth spending the extra hundred dollars for an ocean view when the water is just a short walk away. Pro-Tips for Your Stay * The Pool Chair Hustle: If you want a spot by the pool--especially if you want one with an umbrella--be prepared to put your towels out on the lounges around 6:30 in the morning. By the time you actually head down between 9:30 and 10:00 AM, they will pretty much all be full. * The Safeway Save: I highly recommend stopping at Safeway to pick up items for your refrigerator and having some beer on hand. It helps save a little bit of money considering the other costs. * The $47 Breakfast Gamble: Be prepared to spend $47 on the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet. Some days it's an absolute hit, others it's a bit of a mess, but the waitstaff and hostesses are always amazing. Take full advantage so you can skip lunch! * The Starbucks Struggle: Expect a 30-minute wait. But hey, who cares about the wait? You are on vacation time! The Cost of Paradise Along with your daily room charge of $600 or above, be prepared for the extras. It adds up very quickly: * $56 daily surcharge fee * $45 daily garage parking fee * $47 breakfast fee (per person) * Extra charges for umbrella and chair rentals on the beach The Verdict: If you want a great pool, a stunning beach, and turtle encounters, this is your place. If you want updated amenities and a bed that doesn't swallow you whole (ours had quite a "dip"), you might want to look elsewhere.

There's a lot to like about the setting itself. That said, this is a large, high-volume resort, and the overall experience reflects that. Pool areas felt crowded, with frequent competition for chairs, and poolside service seemed stretched--wait times were longer than expected for a property at this price point. Food options leaned heavily toward casual, bar-style items, which felt mismatched relative to the premium pricing. Logistically, the resort is quite spread out. Getting from the rooms to the lobby or main areas can take 10-15 minutes depending on location, which adds friction--especially with kids. Some elements of the experience also felt a bit dated and less polished than expected. We also had a child who was sick during part of the trip, which certainly affected our experience, but the high-density, crowded nature of the resort made it harder to navigate that situation comfortably. Overall, this property is likely a good fit for families looking for a lively, busy resort atmosphere with lots of activity. Travelers seeking a quieter, more efficient, or higher-touch experience may want to consider smaller or lower-density options in Maui
