It really is like a night club!! Except no creepers hitting on you!!

Wow I cannot say enough good things about this place!! I've been to many Zumba classes but never one that was this much fun!! Jennifer was amazing and had great energy that flowed through the class. The dances were challenging but not too tough that you couldn't get the hang of them by the end of the class. I also loved that she brought other students up to dance the dances on stage with her as it was interesting to see other peoples takes on the dances. SO MUCH FUN!!!

Love this place!

I love this place. A great group of instructors and the nightclub atmosphere makes the Zumba environment fun. I really want to try their Melt class sometime too. I highly recommend checking this place out. Get there about 10 minutes early to get a good spot on the floor. Bring water and a light hoody or long sleeved shirt to wear until you warm up (for Fall/Winter classes).

Awesome!

There is no better place to exercise/get fit in Portland than PULSE! Their classes are unique, upbeat, and you feel like you are having fun versus working out. Before you know it, your entire back is dripping with sweat! I love their zumba, cardio funk, and bollywood classes!

Lovin' the nightclub scene

So fun! A little intimidating when going alone as many have their groups or friends established. Advice is go with a friend.

The gym itself is in what feels like a basement. It is small and cramped. There were only three of us in there at the time but I couldn't imagine it on a busy day. I signed up for a free week trial membership. Which is a lovely perk to offer potential new clients. Upon arriving I was given a tour by the person at the front desk. She made sure that before she took me downstairs she found someone to cover her at the front desk. About half way through the tour a woman, I'm assuming manager, came over to us holding a laundry basket. Before saying hi or introducing herself she basically scolded the woman giving me the tour saying "who is watching the front desk if you're down here? I'll finish the tour and you can go back upstairs". At that point this manager woman put on a big fake smile and introduced herself to me and then finished the tour. This interaction alone immediately told me this was not the gym for me. It may be a women's only gym but it didn't provide the feeling of women supporting women. The gym itself is honestly, depressing. No windows. No softness. It's a basement with workout equipment. I chose not to return for remainder of the free trial and certainly wouldn't spend $75 a month to go there.

Being part of an all women's gym has given me a sense of discipline and empowerment. All the women I've met have been really supportive. The facility is really clean too, with showers and a sauna. Reasons why my review is three stars: - In less than a year, two separate classes got their instructor changed THREE times. There seems to be a lot of turnover amongst the staff and while it's inconvenient to my workout schedule, it makes me wonder what's happening behind the scenes that causes sooo much turnover. - I wish there was an option to rent your own locker. I take public transit so it's difficult to lug around all my work/gym/clean clothes. Paying an additional fee for a rented locker would make life so much easier. - I would love either a free/reduced membership for people of the BIPOC community. Or a free weekly/monthly class for BIPOC women. I'm usually the only WoC in my classes and it can feel uncomfortable at times.

Mostly very Portland community members. A fair number of regular older folks-- myself included, I imagine-- and an otherwise diverse crowd (for Portland, that is.) It's been meticulously clean in the months that I've been going there. There's always someone walking around wiping things off, redistributing weights to their racks, and just generally keeping the place clean and functional. I used to go to 24 hour in Hollywood, and I always felt like I should get a penicillin shot afterwards. I literally listened to a guy talk about his staph infection IN THE SAUNA. And the bros. Oh boy. It's hard enough to get comfortable going to a gym without a bunch of performative insecurity on display. I've read these "I joined on an impulse but then I decided I wanted my money back" posts and imagine that has to be a non-stop thing at a gym, but if you really want to just go somewhere to exercise, I can't imagine a better deal. The MAC's not giving your money back, either, by the way. Pros: Cheap. Clean. Well equipped. Pleasant vibe. 24 hours. Did I mention cheap? Cons: I could use fewer TVs, honestly. Gotta complain about something, I guess. There's no pool, sauna, tennis courts, whatever. Not cons so much as just true if that's what you want.

It's disappointing to see this framed as a financial favor. The "free months" referenced were…read moreactually credits for periods that had already been paid for but during which services were not provided as advertised. These were not gifts; they were adjustments for time the facility was closed or unavailable. In addition, I had posted funds to my account for future months and was never told they needed to be manually applied. I was later publicly criticized for not doing so, despite never being given that information. I was also concerned when the owner attempted to publicly share my personal information on another platform. That content was removed after a cease-and-desist was issued. Consumer protection laws address situations where customers are charged for services not rendered, which is why those credits existed in the first place. Rather than addressing concerns, the owner chose to personally criticize a former member for leaving an honest review. That approach reinforces many of the issues other reviewers have already described, and it has the effect of drawing more attention to those reviews. Situations like this make it difficult to feel comfortable as a member or to resolve concerns in good faith. I hope the business chooses to focus on improving the member experience rather than attacking customers who share their experiences.

The front desk staff is always really nice, and the trainers seem awesome overall. I can definitely recommend mine, Will. He's knowledgeable, astute, goal-focused, and encouraging. It also feels like a genuinely respectful space. I haven't seen anyone leering or acting like a jerk - quite the opposite. And people are good about reracking weights and wiping down equipment. Parking can be a little bit of a situation at times, and people sometimes seem to wait around for spots for some reason, but there's actually plenty of parking diagonally across the street in the garage. Street parking is also often free or just a couple of bucks, so it's very manageable once you know the options. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this spot. Great vibe, great trainers, and solid equipment. There's even a hot tub in the locker room. It's not a polished, spa-looking place, but honestly that's part of the charm. I'd much rather deadlift somewhere with personality than in a lifeless beige box.

Typically I'm here to swim laps and take water aerobics, so can't comment on the gym classes or equipment. Itzel teaches water aerobics M-W_F at 9am and her classes are packed largely due to her energy and the workout everyone gets. It's hard to keep a class fresh when it's three times a week, but Itzel manages to keep everyone engaged with excellent, varied music, exercises, and her smile and energy. For lap swimming, this is my favorite pool because it's much longer than the other LA Fitness locations At 25 meters vs 25 yards, which really makes a difference. There are 3 lanes, which swimmers split, and rarely do you have to wait for a lane unless you want to swim at 10am on M-W-F right after water aerobics when many people stay in the pool to continue their workouts. The showers, sauna and locker rooms are relatively clean. I say relatively, because it depends on the volume and the cleanliness of those using these spaces. I will say the woman who cleans the ladies locker room works her bitt off and is always sanitizing and wiping things clean.

They asked us both to have a seat then, after some time, they called the other person back before me (despite me being there 10 mins prior). After almost giving up, I got a phone call asking me when I'd like to come in for a tour (the employee didn't seem to know I was already there waiting). After all that, I got a quick workout in but the space was overcrowded and dirty, some of the weight machines were covered in rust and the locker room was unkept. I didn't return for days 2 or 3 of the trial pass, I'll probably just try something local instead of a big box gym like this.

I've belonged to the…read morecorporate gyms at Nike and Adidas as well as smaller boutique ones and big national chains, so I know a good thing when I see it. If you're shopping around for one to try, especially now as part of a New Year's resolution plan, put this place at the top of your list. Here are my favorite things about this place: 1. Nice welcoming vibe. You will be greeted by name every time. There's a friendly spirit about the place. They decorate for holidays. They make it easy with their "Try us out for $30" trial (any three group classes but a 1:1 trainer session). Each quarter they ask people what other classes they might like to see added. 2. Fantastic variety of workout options, from 6am to 6pm. So many different small group workout class options every week plus optional drop-in open gym for those who want to do their solo thing (the gym posts videos on their Instagram of that week's open gym suggested workout) plus lot of choices for 1:1 personal trainers. 3. Very clean and super organized. You know how many gyms smell like a men's locker room, or with stuff scattered about? This is the opposite of that. Everyone uses the provided spray bottles to clean things off and they've got a whole wall of hand washing stations. They've even got plants and custom wall murals. 4. Excellent instructors. Some classes have just a few people, others can be closer to 15. Either way, the trainers are very engaged throughout, not just chirping, "Keep it up! Looking strong!" type stuff but actually helping each person with correct form, or bringing over a different weight, or spotting when needed. None of them play favorites nor are ever checking their email on their phone. 5. Reasonable rates. Depending how you structure yours, I think it's about $20 per group class and/or $90 per 50-min 1:1 personal trainer. Not once have I felt pressured via any upselling. Instead, various people at the front desk have said, "Actually, if you do it this way, you can save even more on that..." 6. Good energy. The trainers do a nice job with their playlists on the iPad and clearly enjoy their job. I especially like that they keep the banter light and no one is ever talking about, say, political topics. Also nice that it's co-ed. For those wondering, gender-wise the instructors/trainers skew female (I think 14 are women and 4 are men), as do the small group classes (if a dozen people sign up, three or four are usually men). 7. Portland crowd. This isn't LA where you look around the room and feel either ugly or under-dressed or probably both. Nor is it the NYC Equinox tribe where people are looking to pick up a date or scoff if you don't know what Amagansett is. It's very much "come as you are" because it's about people each having their own reason for being here. You don't need to go buy a new outfit or cut some weight before coming here. Lots of body shapes, lots of ages. 8. Community spirit. If you're looking to just drop in, get your pump in and get out, easily done. But if you're looking for something more, they do a nice job with additional occasional offerings like a summer camping trip, Thanksgiving potluck, yoga w/ live acoustic tunes, bringing in a guy from Notre Dame crew team to show proper form on rowing machines, etc. 9. Great customer service. If you've got a question, they answer it immediately, however you prefer: onsite, text, email, phone. No one here ever tells you, "I don't know" or "I'll have to check with my manager" like they do elsewhere. 10. Supportive financially. If you need to take an extended break of a few weeks or few months for any personal reason, they're happy to put things on pause. If you lost your job and life is feeling heavy, they work with you to find a solution so that you don't have to cut gym time from your routine. You get the idea. I'll stop now. Every neighborhood could use a place like this, where there are no cliques and people can be as introverted or as social as they want and it's all good.
