However, it will be hard for me to return anytime soon. They will hold you hostage if you do not tip at least 20%. Two out of three times I've gone they have harassed me for only tipping 15%... a $3 difference. And for that $3 they have lost a consistent customer. Most recently the massage therapist kept taking the machine from the man who was checking me out, cancelling my transaction every time I selected 15% to restart it so I would select 20%. It was beyond unprofessional! At that point why would I tip extra for this treatment! I eventually had to say you either are getting 15% or nothing, you choose. Won't be going back anytime soon.

Imagine my husband and me celebrating our 1 year anniversary and deciding last minute to get a…read morecouples massage at this place 27 Tai Ji Spa that says they are open 24 hours. Only to be met with refusal of service by the service provider. We are African American, and we were very patient with them given the circumstance. But we sat there and waited because surely they weren't being prejudice right to our face. Not in 2026, in Manhattan, NYC, of all places. Well... The male masseuse was giving a customer a foot massage when we arrived just around 9:30p/10pm. The door was locked so we rang the bell. He answered and asked if we had an appointment. My husband answered we did. We sat down as we saw he was massaging the feet of a female customer. But in the interim he started with "No one is available ." "We close at 12am." "I don't speak English." And any number of tropes to indicate he and they were not going to accommodate us. I asked about the hours, he refused to answer. He didn't speak English, he said. So we sat there and waited for someone else to come out. While we waited, another Asian male customer came to the door. He was able to walk right in . He wasn't asked if he had an appointment. He was told to wait 20 minutes. So I pulled out my Mandarin translator in Google Translate since he stopped answering me to ask, "Are you open 24 hours?" "Are you refusing service?" The young lady getting a foot massage tried to help by asking us for clarification (not the masseuse) but at the end of the day we left because the tone was very "We are not going to give you Black people service." It didn't matter that the website says 24 Hours. It didn't matter that we sat patiently waiting. At one point, a lady came out and said only ONE of us could get a massage. I used the translator app again to say, "We are going to go. Your website says 24 hours. You dont want to accomodate us. It's fine. I will leave a review and we will go. Please change your website and you won't have this problem. Translation: 我们要走了。你们网站上写的是24小时营业，但你们却不愿接待我们。没关系，我会留下评价，然后我们就走。请修改一下网站信息，这样就不会再有这种问题了。 Wǒmen yào zǒule. Qǐng xiūgǎi yīxià wǎngzhàn xìnxī, zhèyàng jiù bù huì zài yǒu zhè zhǒng wèntíle." But it won't really matter what hours their website says... if they don't want to service Black people then, that's the main issue. And that is not okay. In the uber home, my husband was angered to no end because he as well as I knew that they were flat out giving us racist treatment. The look on the female customer's face said it all once the other non-Black customer came in and was given an appointment immediately. She just didn't have the wherewithal to say anything in our defense. Completely demoralizing.

Long story short -…read moreI've been trying to get a refund of the unused $80 of $200 in gift certificates I bought pre-covid. 3 reasons: 1) the massages were mediocre at best, 2) nobody speaks english and I have 2 rods in my back so they don't understand my requests, the last straw #3 - the manager (Judy I believe) cancelled my 330pm appointment I made at 3pm - because 2 people walked in before I got there. FYI - I only went there again after my first time because I made the mistake of getting a "deal" by buying $200 in gift certificates. 1st video - Judy the manager incessantly yelled at me on Sept 12 when there were no customers there, she finally toned down after I started filming this. (she called me a racist because I asked for an english speaking masseuse) https://photos.app.goo.gl/jKZZdkATyEsFhfTm6 2nd VIDEO - Sept 26 - again I requested the refund which Judy said the owner was coming to give me. I left the place after 10 minutes of begging her to just give me $60 instead of $80 since she was busy with 2 customers (she denied it and let the customers sit through arguing). As I was walking out, the owner approached and assaulted me as my mother watched terrified. As my mother tried to get him off of me, I had to witness Judy punching my mom twice and holding her as the owner put me in a chokehold. He finally let up after I was able to get the camera on, but then he took the camera away from me. He told me to sit on the ground like he was a cop (and later I saw him show the officers a badge of some sort). https://photos.app.goo.gl/uLoBQ9hHvuQ5q6S5A

My masseuse was Jamie. She was so nice, and very attentive to what I needed. She asked if there were any specific pain points that she should be aware of, and if there were issues that I wanted her to address. She also checked in often about her pressure level and if I was comfortable overall, which was much appreciated. She even gave me tips and suggestions for at home pain management and relief to hold me over until my next session. When Jamie was done, I felt so much better! The pain I had when I first came in was gone. She focused on the problem areas that we spoke about, but still worked on all the usual spots expected in a full body massage. The establishment itself was very clean, nicely decorated and had a relaxing atmosphere. The staff were very kind and helpful the entire time. They made my self care day a wonderful one, and I decided to become a member so that I can do this once a month!
