There's not even much of the rock quarry visible that gave the place its name. So IF you're heading to Rock, why not stop at this rather nice restaurant which offers brilliant views of the bay. The menu is split into three time schedules, breakfast, lunch (12 to 6 p.m.) and dinner (after 6). The range is a bit higher key than the usual pub grub, and the chicken breast (topped with bacon and cheese) I opted for was rather nice indeed. The beer range is limited, especially on the hand-pumps - similar to the Rock Road Bar & Grill which inhabits the same building - and they may indeed be one item. Korev and some international lagers are available though. The view is indeed splendid and the staff were really nice when I visited. The outside seating can be covered, but it was not on this rather warm and sunny June day. Since there are very few alternatives here, I'd give The Rock Inn thumbs up. There is truly no real reason to go to Rock in the first place, but this one might be it.

HRH Prince Charles, Dylan Thomas have both visited here, to sample the beer still brewed on the premesis. The food is pricey, but what a meal you get for your money! A huge plateful that would be enough for two! the most reasonable is the Roast dinners, approx £10 a head. The walls and ceilings of the Inn are covered in memorobilia, from horse brasses to farming tolls, there is enough to occupy your mind while you wait for your meal. On your way to the loo you will encounter a full suit of armour, and in the back are fish tanks, and a talking parrot!

The Front is the very definition of a local pub/boozer in the best sense. It has a very genial, relaxed atmosphere to it, and the time-worn furniture inside only adds to the cozy feel. In England, often the less stylish pubs will offer the traveller/local the best selection of drinks in a small, friendly place. The Front is one of them. The pub features a small, unfussy outside seating area with a good view on Falmouth Harbour. Expect to see mostly local folk at this place. Regular tourists will likely choose one of the glitzier alternatives nearby, but it would be a mistake. This is authentic Cornwall. And a beer lover cannot do better in Falmouth.

They don't do food (beyond crisps), but you can bring in your own (and there is a chippy next door!). I like the attitude to be honest!

By the bar there are some mugs hung up with peoples names on them. I hope that they really do belong to locals, rather than being part of the 'look'. There are generally 4 ales on pump. Fortunately it was the one I had never had before, Kiddlywink, from the excellent Skinner's brewery nearby If I'd come when all the ales were on and I'd had more time to stay, I could imagine this place getting a perfect score. Worth the pilgrimage if you're near by; easily reached from Tenby. We found it to be very friendly, quite busy with locals and dogs and with a fantasticly warming real fire. There's plenty of crazy stuff about the place,stuffed animals, photos and lots about the old Landlady Alice Davies who ran the place from 1961 until she was 90. A great deal of heritage in this 18th centuary pub and a tasty pint of Worthington's firewater to go with it.
