This pub has several themed bars which are all decorated differently in an olde worlde style with cider presses for tables and antlers for lamps, you can spend all night looking around and the more you look the more strange and unusual things you will spot. The main entrance into the building is built to resemble a stage coach with seating inside it, to the rear, adjoining the building there is a giant boot just like the one out of the nursery rhyme about the old woman who lived in a shoe which houses a slide for the children and adults if you can fit down it!!!! This pub is a MUST for a visit, the owners are very friendly and will tell you the history of the establishment and give you a tour of the various different rooms.

A difficult review to write as we were a little shocked arriving here. I had read various reviews…read morebut took the chance as we got a very good price from booking.com and were only looking for a place to rest our heads for one night. The booking form stated that we could book in from 3.00 pm. Unfortunately the hotel didn't open it's doors until 5.00 pm. This was no problem as we had visited Dartmoor all day but I felt sorry for an old couple that had been sitting in their car for two hours. Let me first state that we learned that the young lady had only recently taken over the business, which was in a poor state at that time. Without being rude, she needs money and help bringing this hotel up to scratch. Booking in was straightforward. Shown to our room. Very grubby with a shower that only spat out water, unusable. But, as I have said, we only needed a nights sleep. On other reviews they complain about traffic noise. Agreed it was on the main road but, after a few real ales, neither of us had a problem sleeping. The bed was comfortable and clean. We popped down to the bar in the evening for a drink. The bar area has been refurbished with seating areas as well as the main dining area. We didn't eat as we had eaten earlier in the day. But had a few drinks. Service was friendly and the real ales varied and plentiful. After a nights sleep we were ready for breakfast, even though we hadn't showered. Sorry to say, breakfast was terrible. Running in oil with burst sausages, black tomatoes etc etc. Toast was cold. Coffee.won't say any more. Looking around the 'refurbished' bar it was obvious, in daylight, how badly the work had been done. Crooked switches, broken pots etc etc. I wish the young lady all the best in her venture but would advise 'sarcastically' she get in the Hotel Inspector for some tips.

My husband had Bangers & Mash with crispy onions and my teenage children had yummy burgers. They have two lovely gardens and the Inn itself is16th Century with thick stone walls, slate floors and a really relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Children are welcome in the dining areas and the garden as well as friendly dogs. If you like Sticky Toffee Pudding -- my absolute favourite pudding -- then get it here. It's brilliant and served with a dollop of clotted cream on the side for a few more calories if you need them!

Reaching a toll station and paying £2 takes you down along a bendy road to a Car Park with nice views but carry on as there is another car park further down by the hotel. The Wreckers Inn has a great view of the ocean with plenty of seating outside for the wonderful sunny weather. Good selection of ales and the food is extremely good. The pub is part of the hotel, which looked nice to stay in with those views. As I have said, worth the drive, ENJOY the views.
