Greens zoom here, and most approach shots are uphill. when we tee'd off at 7am we played 18, and never saw the cart girl. Apparently it was too early. When we teed off at 4pm we saw her on hole 1, and she was done for the day after that. Apparently it was too late.... They also close the restaurant at the turn relatively early. We were unable to restock our beer supply there so we had to finish the round SOBER! and it really hindered our ability to play good golf...or at least it's my excuse! Not sure why ABQ golf courses seem to have a problem getting the beer to their golfers, but i'd imagine they lose out on a boat load of money because they can't serve adequately. if you go in the afternoon you can play for $40. At $40 it's definitely worth it. At $80 IMO it's definitely not! I think there is 2 holes with water which i would like to see on 5 or 6 at least. I know we are in the desert but at $80 a golfer you'd think there'd be some money for another pond or two. They do have a cool range that I like as well, and the marshal/cart manager has been nothing but awesome! very cool guy.

I think so as I was running a PGA of America pro fundraiser and the good players in the field love this course. I would hear many of them saying its difficult and mostly fair (Hole no. 10 appears to be the kick-in-the-butt). Walking out from between the modest LOBO pro-shop and the grille, you stand and see a great vista overlooking a good bit of Albuquerque. All the way across the city basin you see 9-Mile Ridge and just to the left are five extinct volcano peaks. To the rear and over the shoulder are the tailing portions of the Rocky Mountains. I did putt a few on the greens and they were very healthy ... and quick. The course ends the Front 9 with a par-5 and the Back 9 with a par-5. The grille had a very nice menu and they did the taco bar service at the close of play - tasty with lots of New Mexican flare. Should I ever have a chance to return to Albuquerque ... with my golf clubs, this is my stop. Play away, golfers! UNM Championship Course is suuuhweeeet!

Although the starter told me "no cart paths exist so just keep off the greens", but I was approached by the golf course Marshall around the 5th hole telling me I was getting too close to the greens in my cart - I was a good 30 feet away from the closest green! Anyway, he said I needed to be at least 30 yards from the green. Really dude? Anyway, I might have given the course a 5-star review if not for that discussion. Greens aren't the best, they could be worse. The rest of the course is very nicely maintained.

So, if value is a concern, then muni courses obviously serve a great purpose, don't they? Especially if you're a beginner, the last thing you want to do is drop serious dough at a high end course when you're barely able to get that little white demon ball straight down the fairway. Look, with the exception of some, I'd venture to write even the vast majority of professional golfers paid their dues at various muni courses across the country. They're there for a reason, and I'm certainly glad they are. My daughter, wife and I (all beginners) played the executive par 3 9-hole and had a frustratingly great time! Relatively cheap, flat and straight. We walked it for the extra exercise aspect, and really enjoyed our day. If you're also a beginner, consider playing best ball like we did to help things move along a little faster. Whether just hitting some balls on the driving range, or actually playing, I know we'll be back plenty. And you might want to go burn a few calories too. Cheers!

While the food was good and the sunset was lovely, the whole event was marred by the lack of attention to details both large and small. The rates just went up to $74 for Monday thru Thursday and $78 for Friday thru Sunday. It has out houses that only get cleaned when the company comes out so you are stepping in pee on the floor all the time and too many times the porta potty is not usable due to poo on the seats. You have to bring your own refreshment because the water machine doesn't always work. There is no restaurant, no golf Marshall and you can't take the carts into the parking lot. We have compensated for all this until now but for what the course is charging now, we expect more especially since we can go to other courses and get more for less money.

Had a strange and fun round at Brent Baca memorial. I was in…read moretown last week and wanted to try a course in Albuquerque that I hadn't played before. Brent Baca was top of the list. I got there the on a very chilly morn. the area feels a little sketchy as its a ways out of town, and the only thing nearby was something like a recycling plant or something. I was the only one there as ai pulled up. the course in front of me had random odds and ends includign a couch and some tires too. I just told myself it was part of the experience. The course was wide open. I didn't have to aim around things much, just get the distance down. Most holes were on the shiortwer side so despite the cold I wsa able to park it often. After a few holes a group of about 6 started behind me, which made me feel better about being out in the middle of no where on my own. By the end I really appreciated the course, and the nice views. I'll be back next time in town for sure.

This is a great disc golf course! The front nine are relatively short (though still quite a bit…read morelonger than other courses in ABQ) but still fun. They provide a nice warm up with a few very technical areas. Watch out for the ravine that runs through the course! The back nine are much longer! If you play from the round, longer tees, you're in for some serious par 4's. For me, that means par 5... The course is fun, technical and not crowded. Nice! The only drawback is the lack of shade. But hell, we live in the desert! Bring a hat and some sunscreen, and plenty of water, and you'll be fine. Oh, and plan for some serious goats head thorns! Long pants and real shoes are absolutely essential! Take some time to drive out toe Brent Baca and you will have a great game!

Note: This is a gym located on the air force base, so unless you have access, this review is…read moreprobably irrelevant. You must first register your CAC (registration hours are between 0800-1300, I believe) if you decide to use the gym 24/7, as it is open. It's very small, in comparison to the east side gym, but also less utilized. There are 2 weight rooms, a large cardio room (treadmills, elliptical, stair-step, recumbent bikes), and a 'Nautilis' room with variety machines. If you typically do floor exercises such as crunches or planks, good luck, because there's only 2 yoga mats upstairs in a tiny little area. The heat in there can become overbearing, as there are only several fans that re-circulate hot air around the main rooms, and no A/C for cooling. Also, if you're on the elliptical machines, the fan is right above you, so you will not be feeling anything. Though the building itself is pretty darn old, all of the equipment inside seem relatively new, compared to the last Planet Fitness I visited. Let's also not forget that this gym is free to all government employees, military, or anyone with a CAC (contractors too, I think), so it's not too shabby.

I like this gym a lot more than the East Side Gym because it's smaller and as others have said, there are less patrons. I can move from one thing to the other very quickly which allows for shorter but more intense work out sessions, especially because I use the "superset" style of working out. I'm also able to cycle from my house to the gym in just a few minutes since they have bicycle parking there. I was frustrated at first because there didn't seem to be a place for ab work or stretching but I discovered that in the basketball gym area, they have plenty of room and mats to do whatever you need to do to allow for a complete work out.
