On a normal…read moreday, this is a lovely spot for some window shopping, but that evening their window had a beautiful, dark piece of urban impressionism from Daniele Cestari and I could see through the window some amazing samples of the same style from Gregory Prestegord's show "Safe Haven." This gallery has a bright, cheerful, simple space of white washed brick. It has just the right feeling for a gallery: low-key and welcoming but not particularly corporate or fancy. And they have excellent taste in art! Of what I've seen over a few visits (and on their website) they tend towards art with good contemporary style that isn't over the top "modern." It's a wonderful blend of realist and contemporary impressionist. There are some galleries that you go to just for amusement sake, to see what "creative" new materials are considered artistic these days. There are some galleries you go to for the browsing, just to add some color to your day walking around. This gallery is, for me, aspirational. It has exactly the sort of work I'd like to collect some day, and that I'd be happy to devote some precious wall space to!

The Gallery at Atlantic Wharf features an array of art from local artists and is programmed by the Four Point Arts Community. 300 By Design, the latest exhibit at The Gallery at Atlantic Wharf explores movement, abstraction, and design. This collection of artwork is from five artists who live and work in the Artist Building and will be on display through October 5, 2024. There's an open meeting/working space just around the corner, which features a vast amount of comfortable seating and tables. The space was wonderful, calm, and clean. There are also public restrooms that were open during particular hours and a water bottle refill station back in the gallery area. This space was a great gem of a find in the downtown Boston area.

It was so nice to spend time in our son's friends studio and see how the artist created his works, displayed them and greeted all of the visitors. Each studio was unique and impressive. This visit was 10/3, but I am eager to return again in the early spring to explore further. I will say, while most artists and shop people were friendly, a few were a bit standoffish. Maybe it is exhausting hosting so many people who are flowing through all day & evening. I loved the whole concept !

This is a really special piece of Boston, and it almost feels magical to witness so many creative minds in the same building. It's worth your time to check it out. I was so happy to stumble upon this place while walking my dog along Newbury Street. Their current exhibit is all about dogs, which is much like my idea of heaven. :) I ended up returning the second day for their dog-friendly reception. It is more like a collection of art around the brewery, but the signs are funny and it's interesting to note paintings that were donated vs. found in a thrift store vs. found in the garbage. It ranges from funny proportions to some truly bizarre. It's a great activity to giggle at with friends or make up fun commentary on a date. It's a fun little concept, free, and open late, so it's a funs stop in. The brewery features a full bar, arcade and board games and BBQ food as well. The owner even showed us an old cigarette dispensing machine now filled with chocolate packs. There's a lot going on and it is apparent a lot of thought and creativity went into the space. It's certainly not like a traditional "museum" but sometimes you need to see some bad art to really appreciate some good art elsewhere. You'll end up laughing at something.

I pulled it out of the file and went to see bad art. We walked in and the guy at the bar was very nice and pointed out the "route" of the paintings. The art was so fun--some worse than others. I really did understand what some of what the artists were thinking, and in other cases I just laughed and scratched my head It's small and we weren't there more than 20 minutes, but it was fun. Admittedly, I'm not much of the artsy type or into chatting endlessly about how art can create…read moremeaning or inspire change. But, I have a keen eye, discriminating taste and mucho respect for those who do wonderful things with different mediums. I appreciate when artists or in this instance, gallery owners, attempt to make art accessible to everyone. Howard from the Howard Yezerski Gallery does just this. He recently opened his doors, quite literally, to host a charity wine tasting event. The gallery is lovely- clean and crisp. Howard and the gallery staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. The pieces on display were interesting and worthy of more than a just passing glance. In the famous words of LeVar Burton: "Of course, you don't have to take my word for it." So, go check it out!

The artist in the main space made origami flowers and took photos of them - that makes it sound silly, but it's really quite interesting and beautiful. The space itself is quite nice. It is on the small side, with hardwood floors. The entrance is a little hard to find - it's right near the Juicy Couture store on Newbury. In the interests of full disclosure.. this gallery very kindly agreed to host our On Your Feet Project wine tasting. Howard and his assistant were gracious and accommodating, and I believe they may have even made a sale or two. If you're in the market for some art, I definitely recommend visiting the gallery and at least talking to them about the local art scene. They seem to be quite knowledgeable.

They're outside of my price range though. Although looking up some of his other works, they are very reasonable prices! It depends on what people are willing to pay for art. There are prints and sketches available as well. There's also some custom pottery by a local artist who lives on one of the islands. Her name escapes me as of this writing. That's what I like about these little known artists and stops, you're not going to find them on the internet. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit this gallery again: but if you like maritime-themed paintings, or happen to be a fan of John Stobart, then this may be something that you're interested in.
