When you're in Lucca and you want to know where the locals eat within the walls of Lucca? Go to Ristorante Puccini. The food is ab-so-lute-ly wonderful, and nothing fancy at the same time. The fish and meat is cooked by a chef who knows what he's doing. The side dishes of veggies and the like is simple, but the way the Italians love it.. fresh and with no corner cutting.
We ordered grilled pork and the grilled catch of the day...
The fish was skinned on the spot and the meat was fabulous. Some sauteed veggies (really sauteed) and beans in tomato sauce on the side. Now, we all have had some Heinz refried beans in tomato sauce, no? This looked the same, but tasted like beans in real, home made ab-so-frikkin'-lutely fantastic tomato sauce.
Now, the downside of this experience was the bill.
In Italy food in general is inexpensive. We paid 60 euro-bucks for a dinner for two.
Despite the quality, this is pretty stiff. Even for Lucchesian standards.
And no cards (credit or debit) are accepted. Which plainly sucks. read more
