Horrible signage on BOGO. They argued with me and were very condescending. Do not shop at this location.

I stopped here to fill a prescription after a family member having been discharged from the hospital. The pharmacy was understandably busy, but completely lacking and empathy and concern about the fact that I really needed to get this family member home. I asked for the possibility of expediting the prescription and was met with a blank face and "no". I was told the weight was 45 minutes and that was what it was. I ended up having to take her home and come all the way back into town. I understand we are no longer in the "local family pharmacy" era, but I would've thought that a healthcare professional session as a pharmacist would have a little bit more empathy. read more

The attitudes of most the employees here are very different depending on what you look like. I truly don't like coming to this location unless absolutely necessary. The employees need to trained on how to properly bag and communicate effectively with customers because half of the time it seems they hate the idea of actually helping someone. Okay I have a lot to say about this place. First the chicken is amazing that's the only good thing about this place. Service is horrible. If your not dress to there standards when you walk in or look a certain way. The workers or mangers will follow you around the store and watch you the whole time you're in there. I do t go in there by my self anymore I have to have someone go in with me that's how bad it is and they notice it too. The bathroom was trouble. I always check the bathroom to see how nice they are because that can tell a lot about the place. No toilet place, no seat covers and it looks horrible. I go into a lot of places even gas station bathrooms but never had any look like that. The last part the pharmacy will treat you like shit if you try to get your dog's meds filled there. I mean you have to keep at them saying I need it I need it. And if any of costumer walks up while they're helping you. They will move on to them and forget you until they're done with the other people because animals lives to them isn't important. So if you want to be racially profiled go here. Terrible racial customer service in the northport al deli. They act like it's an issue to listen to what you want on your sandwich. Even though I'm cheerful , smiling, and nice - they frown and talk amongst each other over nothing. They don't know what the heck they're doing "she wants hummus and feta on her sandwich" and rolls their eyes .... makes me very uncomfortable. The south is obsessed when it comes to seeing thru a lens of "black vs white" even though race isn't real......... but they let you know really quick how much of a problem you are by their facial expressions and the way they treat you. My sandwich was sloppy and disgusting. I'm never going back. good luck! read more

Never had an issue with this location beyond today. I was in self checkout and as I was ringing up my items I noticed a sudden accumulation of employees at the register next to mine. Brushed that off and continued on but the employee in the express checkout left his post to come stand directly next to me and stare me down still I said nothing. After ringing up every item I had in self checkout, card in hand ready to pay, one of the employees sends another one over to tell me that they had a limit on a certain item in my cart. They watched me ring up every item in my cart and waited to tell me and there was no sign indicating a limit on the shelf. I pointed this out but nothing but ok you can get the rest of the stuff was said. I looked up and noticed the group of employees looking and laughing. I politely said no thanks you can cancel the whole cart. I'll take my business elsewhere. I'm not making much of a difference but I wrote this to say don't treat your paying customers as thieves. And if you have a limit on an item, put up signs to indicate so. read more

Expensive, but they have stuff other supermarkets don't have. The deli counter has some good lunch grub, but again, it's expensive.

Placed an $200 order on 03/05 to be picked up on 03/11 @ 5:00 p.m., received a call around 2:00 saying we didn't make the salmon that you order but we made tilapia do you want that, that is 2 different fish! but at this point I have to get something so I agreed. We arrived at 5:00 and half the order wasn't ready. They were not ready and it was nearly an hour before the order was ready and there was no apology or even look of remorse. I ordered four half slabs of ribs and only 1 was ready, he took one out of the display where they sell to customers, then we had to wait for him because he had to prepare 2! I was very disappointed with this experience. read more

I use the deli at northport but they all make these. Publix has one of the better, cleanest tasting subs I've eaten. They'll make them by the menu. .or how you want your toppings, single meat..whatever you want. There plain deep fried wings (no sauce) Are out of the world!!! Just a hint of spice..ask them too cook them 2 minutes longer for a deep golden brown ..yum! read more

In Tuscaloosa, Publix is the best super market option in my opinion. The selections are okay, produce is okay, prices are reasonable, so it's okay. I am from Rochester, NY so my supermarket standard is Wegmans, which is a high standard to beat. read more

I love Publix. I don't really like this one. Not through any fault of their own. Maybe the location is just "too good". It's always crowded...from the parking spot to the lines. The traffic at this intersection is nuts. For that reason, I usually shop at one of the Tuscaloosa Publixes (Publix'? Publie?). But still...as always, this Publix is well kept, with friendly workers and good prices. read more

Publix reminds me of the way grocery stores were when I was a kid. They act like they care that you shop with them. If they don't have an item you like, they will get it. (even if they have to buy it from somewhere else just to have it for you) Their selection is good on most things, not a big fan of the meat dept. (I like my steaks cut thicker than what they put in the case) You can ask them to special cut the steaks, but that takes a little extra time and they are not really butchers, just meat cutters. This was an experience. It was really nice. The hot food station, the variety of produce, the wine selection... All amazing. Alabama hospitality was in full bloom. LOL... An employee even greeted me with an ever so welcome, "ROLL TIDE!" Nice place to meet all of your shopping needs. Stop by and see for yourself. read more

The employees here are especially friendly. There are more than willing to help you find items in the store. Store is very clean. Prices are a little high sometimes, but they have awesome sales. Too bad everyone has jumped on the extreme couponing wagon; they are often out of sale items from people stockpiling. This can be pretty disappointing, which you are just going in to pick up a few sale items, and they are out of almost everything. read more

It's a Publix, so 3 stars are the starting point. Great brand and company. But this particular iteration is not up to the standard. For comparison, the Publix at the S. end of Lake Tuscaloosa is much better in the things that I value: friendliness, responsiveness, and accommodation. The management is there to serve in a much more open and friendly way than you will find at the MacFarland Blvd store. Since they are equidistant from me, I go to the lake store 90% of the time. This is the most convenient Publix for me and it has always been the grocery store I've shopped at exclusively. However, I have had it with their deli department. You would think by 5:00 p.m. on any given week night they would have food prepared but several times I have gone in to get rotisserie chickens and they would tell me it would be an hour or sometimes even two hours before anymore would be ready. My husband and I both have called and complained to different managers with promises that they would see to the problem. Last night was the last straw. I went in at 5:00, straight to the deli and there were none ready. When I asked the lady about them she replied that it would be 26 minutes before they would be ready. I did the rest of my shopping (a complete buggy full) and headed back to the deli with six minutes to spare. Once I got back, there were people standing everywhere waiting on food. When the buzzer went off on the rotisserie, the cook very unapologetically replied it would be 15 more minutes. Needless to say, I pushed the buggy full of groceries back to the manager-less service department and walked out of that Publix for my last time. read more

We love Publix. Clean, inviting, making for a pleasant shopping experience every time you go. The Deli food is wonderful, we love their fried chicken and sides. And my daughter gets a free cookie from the cookie club each time we go, she looks forward to that! read more
