During a trip to Florida we rented a house with two other couples. The first thing we did was stock the bar and refrigerator - Publix was the closest location. Publics is a fine supermarket by the standards we are used to in the Chicago suburbs. It is nicely laid out so things are easy to find. The location we went to was clean and well stocked. My only issue is prices were quite high compared to what we pay at home. I don't know if they are the same as other supermarket pricing in the Destin area. But, service was fine and we got everything we needed. read more

I'm guessing because Publix is located in a touristy area, the prices of everything are through the roof. Like whatttttt. Be warned the things are overwhelming pricey compared to Kroger. If you are planning to stay in there area for vacation, pack necessary items with you. Otherwise the store is clean and the staffs are all sweet and welcoming. When I order veggie sandwiches from Publix delis, I'm used to getting a decent sized sandwich. Not so with this location. The sandwiches were terrible. So chintzy. Hardly anything on them. Instead of tomato slices, the sandwiches had 3 or 4 tiny little specs of tomato. At first, I thought they were pimentos, like you get in the middle of a green olive, only way smaller. The rest of the sandwiches were just are chintzy. Just terrible. I wrote to the manager and received no response. Most Publix delis are way better. Skip this location. read more

The store itself is fine, but whoever runs the deli needs a serious lesson in time management, training, and awareness. It doesn't matter if there's 15 people behind the counter or 2... that deli will almost always take you 20-30 mins to get your order. I get we live in a tourist town, but there is no sense of urgency ever. I've never seen the manager stop and make a sandwich or take an order. Clearly efficiency is not a priority and they leave the minimum waged workers to take all the heat (which probably is what recreates the cycle). Ps... You want to talk about inflation? Just came from the Publix on 98 in SRB. The "range free" eggs that I typically buy at Walmart for a bit over $6 a dz were nearly $12 at Publix. If you want to complain about the cost of groceries, look no further than our Florida owned grocery store sticking it their customers. Deli is a joke. I work nearby and ordered a sandwich an hour before my requested pickup time. Upon arrival one of the deli workers asked if she could help me as I stood by the pickup case. I explained I had ordered a sandwich online. She inquired with "Ash" as to the status. Ash replied "I'll make it when I get help". Blood boiling I see an older gentleman desperately stocking cold cuts. I approach and ask if he's the deli manager. He says no assistant manager. I explain what has just happened and I get an apology. I explain that I don't have time to wait and just cancel the order. On my way out I stop and speak to the store manager. Again an apology, but nothing else. The simple solution here would have been to go make the sandwich, but apparently just providing a promised service is beyond two managers capabilities. I am a 40+ year customer of Publix and I'm done. It's clear that shopping is a pleasure is a long ago concept turned tagline. This is an overpriced grocery store with terrible service at every turn. It seem the staff's new moto is how can we avoid or deny actually helping you. Drive the short distance to Winn Dixie or go a little further to Whole Foods or Fresh Market and stop overpaying for the same products. read more

Kept hearing about how great Publix was (I live in Cincinnati). I must say I was not impressed. Sky high prices and NO self checkout available. The seafood department at my local Krogers was better than the one here in Florida. Additionally I thought their meat selection was bad! If you're staying at The Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort this grocery is very convenient. It's hard to miss as it is the largest property inside the strip mall. For my Louisiana family or our neighbors that are used to buying liquor at the grocery store you will have to visit the business next door unless it's beer or wine. The prices are not competitive, however, The Staff are constantly replacing ((near)) outdated items and are always baking fresh goods and hot meals. The Butchers are on hand to slice up thin samples or actual purchases at your request. This Publix has it's Latin section for those hard to find spices, snacks and sodas. It's definitely bigger than most grocery stores. Also, if you forgot some beach gear like chairs or umbrellas they are available here. read more

After hours, a lady let me come in and she got on her hands and knees with me to help me find it... the kindness of her and everyone around who helped me find it! I must say, Publix at Grand Blvd is fortunate to have Jamie (99% sure that's his name) working for them. He was loading the dairy section with new goodies and I couldn't find my favorite yogurt. Jamie went to the back twice looking for it and he found it! He was so friendly and dropped what he was doing to help. Then right after me, another woman asked him if he could help her find something. With a smile, he once again stopped what he was doing and walked to a different aisle to help her. He's definitely the employee every employer only dreams of having in their employ. I highly recommend a spot bonus for Jamie and also I highly recommend Publix! read more

I'm not sure who the lady working in the florist shop is but she needs to go back to bed and try waking up on the other side of it. There is no reason to be short and rude to customers. I simply asked if we could buy a few arrangements and have them wrapped together and she very unpleasantly said we don't have any paper. Then she went right back to aggressively throwing new flower arrangements into the bins we were looking at. No, I'm sorry, no other suggestions, no nothing. Just rude and short. If she's the manager, then I feel sorry for her employees! The lady at the counter did apologize for her behavior when I mentioned it and she was very nice. She was working the Express line. When Publix opened their customer service was excellent. This store is lacking basic customer service skills. The sad fact is today was just one of many times especially these last few weeks, and I'm not a tourist you have to worry about probably never seeing again, I'm local it's in my neighborhood but I'm seriously considering sucking it up and dealing with traffic and going elsewhere. It's evident this is an area Publix is no longer interested offering, I always thought that was something the company took pride in but that's not the case any longer. We stopped here for a quick pickup of items that our Walmart Pickup Order couldn't fulfill. It was around 8/8:30am on a Sunday morning, and the store wasn't crowded yet. The store is large and has bright lighting, and the parking lot has plentiful parking available, even for larger vehicles (we were in a truck). As we were leaving, the cashier that helped us was friendly but the lines started to get noticeably longer behind us. Additionally, more people started coming in as we were leaving. It was a perfect time that morning for a quick run to get in and out so we could get home, unpack the groceries and head to the beach. read more

Publix is a well known supermarket in the south and is typically considered a quality store - above Kroger, under Whole Foods. This Publix is no exception. We have shopped here many times and it has always been clean, well stocked, and the staff friendly and helpful. While the prices are a bit higher than a store down the road, this location is a higher end location and you really need to expect to pay what the location dictates. The produce is usually pretty good (not great) and the meats the same. The negatives are on the cashier staffing - there aren't enough of them. This is a busy location, especially during touristy times as well as nights and weekends. There are usually three or four registers open aside from the express lane. That isn't enough to negate a (yes) 15 or 20 minute wait. First world problems I know, but this store does charge a premium due to location, so can likely afford to pay for another cashier or two to be in service during peak times. As others have noted, this location does not have a self checkout either, so if you come in for a couple of quick things, you are going to wait on line.... read more

Within about 10 minutes after eating it both of our stomach's started cramping and making loud noises and we've both had diarrhea for the past 12+ hours. Bottom line: Publix policy is :Whenever any items are rung incorrectly I get those items FREE, encountered few incidents in which I've argued to the point even on BOGO deals. Also I've returned items and have received gift cards,awful nice. Can't complain too much. Always check your receipts. I purchased Pepperidge Farms bread(BOGO),but I didn't get the second one free,because it wasn't grain bread,listed in the flyer, figured that's kinda chincy, so I exchanged it for the right variety, that's an advertising oversight. The deli department clerks need to be trained in all stations. Went in to grab a buffalo chicken tender sub yesterday (store 885) and got stared at and was directed to the deli counter to get meat cuts? The attendants didnt know what buffalo sauce was, asked me if I wanted mustard instead. The chicken was not only cut, but shredded into fine pieces. Asked for spinach and onions and got a sprinkling of the two.(5 pieces of spinach) I walked away for a minute, to grab some hummus because this was taking so long.(We're at close to 20 minutes now) I came back to find that 2 chicken tender subs were made - I wanted ONE! My partner said to just take the 2nd one quietly because it was such a challenge for the 2 attendants to make. Once I got home, I discovered both sandwiches were rung up for "BH Chicken Sausage w/ Pork Casing" what? I've never had an experience like this at Publix before. read more

I've been shopping here for three months or so. I even found a few pleasant surprises here, and now you can too! The area is rather upscale, so finding the store set back among the others in the shopping area is a bit of a search, which I actually find endearing, considering it's such a large store packing in a rather small-feeling space. Because the store is within the proximity of a few other useful retail locations, it makes this Publix very useful with regard to getting more than one thing done in a short timeframe. I found that I can have breakfast, get a decent latte, get a haircut, and get my grocery shopping all done at once - nice! Also, here are a few of the pleasant surprises I found within: 1. Near the very back of the store, by the frozen items, you'll find excellent Vegan options in the case. Several brands I've never had before that turned out quite good are available. 2. If you like game, they currently have Quail and Venison - another added bonus! 3. The gluten-free and organic isle have big name options, which is nice. 4. I find Florida to be lacking for free-range eggs, but at least cage-free are available. 5. They have a decent wine isle. The folks that work here take their job seriously, and each time I've been greeted by a pleasant staffer, and each time I must decline to have my groceries taken out to my car for me. Im a big fan of Publix subs and frequent the Publix deli where I live. I ordered subs at this location in Grand Blvd three tomes on our trip and we waited 30 to 40 minites each time. This was without a line. One lady made them on two occassions and then a second lady made them the third day. Each time did not improve. They were simple sandwiches, turkey. I can only imagine a holiday weekend in this place....The subs tasted great bit did not make up for the extreme slow pace of the staff. They need to pick up the pace. read more

This is very nice, clean and friendly grocery store and it is my favorite. Everyone is so kind and friendly. Not only that, I love the company's policy that they gave things for free when I came back with some items and the receipt for claim their mistake. Also I noticed they hire a good number of senior people, which I barely see them at Target, nor Safeway. I do respect companies like Publix trying to do good for society ! Last week I noticed they don't have my favorite cheese anymore, so I asked one of them about it. The guy kindly asked me the brand and kind of cheese, and told me they'll order it soon as possible.
