It turns out all the seafood markets around close by 7pm so my only choice for raw seafood was Publix. Though I was hoping for some locally-caught seafood, I appreciated the labeling which included noting that all fin seafood was never frozen and also noting the fish that were sustainably sources and responsibly sourced (with definitions of their terms). I also spoke to the gentleman behind the seafood counter and he not only recommended a certain fish for my needs, but also told me his ideal recipe for it. That's above and beyond. Otherwise, it's a typical Publix. The staff at the checkout were very friendly and I'd recommend going through the customer service line if you only have an item or two and the other lines are all very long.

And the deli here has many delicious sliced meats and cheese. The meat department here also has phenomenal cuts of meats. My family and I love the fresh steaks at Publix. One thing I want to mention is that we did grab a premade meat loaf from the prepared meals section, and the meatloaf was so salty that we couldn't even eat it, and we had to throw the entire meatloaf away. That being said, this type of thing truly happens so rarely that I still must say that Publix is my all time favorite grocery store chain in the entire United States that I've found. They are just hands down the highest quality grocery store. The Ambiance in Publix is always wonderful. "Where shopping is a pleasure" is absolutely the truth. I have bought bakery items that were so dried out I threw them away (were the label dates changed?). I love White Mountain bread, but it is often full of holes (many reasons this can happen). I was there a few days ago and almost every loaf was deeply. dented in the middle from top to bottom. Fruit is often tasteless or old, spoiled. I only buy grapes now. They used to have a great brownie cookie and little French lemon bars/cakes years ago, but I have not seen them in years. Most of their cookies are not very good. I have sent emails to the company, but nothing changes. One more thing - and this is NOT the fault of the store - I have noticed that many customers in the store (NOT the employees) are rude. Ergo, I must have only the products and ingredients that deliver in quality in high quantities if need be. Thank God for K & C Oriental Market. It does not specifically specialize in one particular Asian country, but caters to them all just enough to get by with basics. Located in a small shopping strip on the northeast quadrant of the Wickham Rd. and Aurora Rd. intersection, K & C Oriental Market is located near a sport's bar that serves seafood (can't remember the name to save my life). It advertises itself as catering to every Asian ethnicity out there including Chinese, Japanese, Indonesian, Thai, Korean, Cambodian, and Filipino. I am sure there are more but I can't name them all off the top of my head. What K & C will have are ingredients universally used among all Asian countries like noodles, certain vegetables, and the like. They do have some special preference items depending on country too like black bean noodles (Korean), thousand-year old eggs (Chinese), and even coconut sweet rice wrapped in banana leaves (Filipino). Prepackaged goods can either be necessary or a novelty (stuff you can find at an anime or K-pop store) but are cheaper than most places. Finally, they actually have hardware from Asian countries like bamboo mats, kitchenware, and even straw hats. Overall, my "go-to" place when it comes to general Asian needs for cooking. Once again, the largest selection I can think of outside of Jason's Everyday Produce but nothing they specialize in. On a side note, I would not buy fresh or frozen ingredients from here or any Asian store. Reason has nothing to do with quality as they are good, but places like Thrifty Produce have the same at a cheaper price.
