They were so good we came back on subsequent days, though they were more expensive. My snotty take: This is about as good as supermarket sushi gets. They have some less usual to us offerings of Argentinian empanadas at the deli counter, cheese arepas (Colombian style, I think), and papas rellenas. (This might be the norm somewhere in NYC, but not on the UWS, sadly, so we found this novel and wonderful.) Empanadas, etc... were fair out of the case, but significantly better when refreshed in an air fryer. the arepa was a tad chewy and rubbery -- but maybe that was on me since I purchased it at the end of the day just as the store was about to close. With 39 stores, Publix is the grocery store that has the most locations in Miami. My brother and I stopped in to pick up supplies (mostly OTC medicine) during our one day break between cruises from Miami. This location is part of the Biscayne Commons strip mall with other tenants being Petco and an AT&T store. It had most of the supplies we needed, including store brand items for name brand items like Sensodyne and Mucinex. Yesterday, we stopped by this Publix to try to pick up a King Cake, the delicious Mardi Gras King Cake from New Orleans. Not all Publix stores carry it, and you have to hunt it down once a year. We have only been successful one time in finding it in the last 6 years that we have tried. It was at another Publix store. We were in this area today and decided to try this store. No luck! We have shopped at this Publix in the past and always were pleased with the way they ran the store, which to us meant they didn't run out of the products we needed. The moron who placed the boundary for the auto lock carts was dropped on their head as a child. I parked on the perimeter of the Publix parking lot and needed to go around a small curb to get to my car. I was nowhere near exiting the parking lot. My cart locked a fair distance from my car, and I was forced to push the cart against the lock. Confused, I assumed something was stuck in the wheel because there was no reason to lock the cart while I was in the parking lot. Down and as I touched, the wheel was immediately badly burned on my hand. I spoke to the manager, Yazo, who understood the issue of having the auto lock border through the middle of the parking lot... There are several flaws with this. I was offered burn cream.. but no other compensation with regard to the groceries that had to sit in my car while I waited for the manager to become available and then walk him out and show him what had happened. The lack of intelligence here is beyond me... I understand needing to secure the carts, but drawing the inside of the parking lot makes no sense, and I was hurt as a result . read more

Usually shopping here isn't an issue but the fun times of meeting the most disgusting condescending manager Arthur, the meat manger at store 1017. Not only did his staff member Thomas, argue with me about a product I know they have, I had to involve another manager named Chris just to get Thomas to at least ask someone else named Richard who also has no clue and decided to join in with his nasty attitude, then comes Arthur, the meat manger of the department. It all makes sense now why these teams members had such poor service. Arthur walks in with his condescending and antagonist attitude escalating the situation more, tries to then project his disgusting attitude on me. I fully understand why he has been passed over for promotion. Arthur, if this is how you treat customers I can't understand why you're even a manager, considering you have zero de-escalation skills, considering your staff started it and you just couldn't wait to join in. Until recently this Publix was my favorite grocery store. But few last visits, I feel something similar to discrimination based on nationality. One worker speaks about politics, expresses his opinion about nationalities. He greets me, calling some nationality. This causes stress for me. TWO MORE STARS FOR MY LOCAL PUBLIX: 1) I was tired of feeling stupid for driving extra miles to Wholefoods when a big part of my motivation for going organic is concern for the environment, so I went to the Publix website, found the customer service email address and vented. I wrote a list of products I want to buy and bitched about the fact that they're frequently out of stock or that they don't even carry them. And guess what happened? They responded!!!!!! Not just replying to my email, but now the items are available in my local store. WINNING! 2) Today, when I was in the checkout line unloading my basket, the top came off a huge bottle of orange oil floor cleaner and spilled GLUG-GLUG all over everything. Such a nightmare!!! I was totally embarrassed and flustered and I felt awful! The Publix team could not have been nicer or more efficient. From out of nowhere, staff members rushed over to help, including the tie-wearing manager. In no time at all, they had the whole huge mess cleaned up, and I was on my way. Every single associate was as kind as could be. This was a lesson in how to create exemplary team work. Kudos to that amazing manager! I have to share my story about the Apron lady, Ms. Vionette, who took the time to coach me on how to make the best spaghetti and meatball lunch/dinner. I thought I knew how to make spaghetti and meatball but I was all wrong, when it came to Ms. Vionette who suggested parsley, Parmesan cheese, and cilantro. She gave details from start to finish and I am proud to share that, I smashed the spaghetti and meatball today. She was attentive to my need to make the best spaghetti ever and she assured me that I had the best ingredients that she too uses when making spaghetti and meatball for her family. This one seems more organized than the one in Skylake Shops, 15 minutes away. I really like the location, too. It's right by Florida International University (the North Campus). It's also next to Petco and Costco - funny how they both almost rhyme. I was able to get things I need quickly.. but sometimes the brand you want of the type of product from a brand isn't there. This happened more than once. There was a bunch of GOYA white vinegar bottles, how about the red one? Same thing with the Kikkoman products. The staff over there seemed to have a nicer attitude - I actually talked to a cashier, rather than just her staring at the screen and products. I like it here. read more

Very disappointed in our catering order. We ordered a medium tray of wrap sandwiches and we paid a premium since we ordered Boars ahead meats. The wraps had very little meats and cheeses in them and instead were overwhelming stuffed with shredded lettuce. What a disappointment this was! Especially considering what we paid for the tray. I love this store, shop here several times/week, but now that I have my ill brother staying with me while he recuperates, I have had several occasions to use the Publix Pharmacy. I have found them to be rude, unprofessional, and very disorganized. My brother recently had an amputation and it is very important for him to be on antibiotics to prevent any infection to the healing area. Yesterday when we were at the MD office she ordered him to continue the antibiotics and she sent the order to Publix around 4 pm. Since he had one more pill I decided to pick it up this morning. When I got there I was standing in line, first one up, for almost fifteen minutes, while she waited on other people and even gave some man his Covid vaccine. Finally another Pharmacy tech came and asked about my pick up. Then she said "it's not ready", I said "what do you mean, it's not ready, the doctor ordered it yesterday". She says again, "But it's not ready". I told her to please have it ready by 2pm. This is unacceptable, no excuse offered, no apology offered, and this is unprofessional. Not sure what her name is, but I was helped by a woman at the customer service counter who was extremely rude. While renting the rug doctor I asked specifically if it needed to be cleaned and was told it only had to be drained. When I returned it the woman said she had to charge me a $20 fee even though prior employees told me otherwise. She then went on asking me multiple times "who told you this" as if I was going to remember their names. She then tried to get me to call out another employee right in front of them, making a super uncomfortable experience for both me and them. Also didn't look at me once while speaking and then basically shooed me away when she was done with her paperwork. Wow! read more

As far as Publix stores go, this one is excellent. It's nice and spacious. The people who work there are SUPER friendly. It's clean and the aisles are easy to navigate when more than one cart is in each aisle. I often combine a trip to Publix with a trip to the Whole Foods in Aventura since Publix doesn't carry everything I need. However, they do have all the basics like tissues, toilet paper, conventional produce, frozen goods, magazines, and pantry items. They also have a good selection of Caribbean products. The location is also very good. It's near Costco, where I get gas and in the same shopping plaza as Paul's, where I like to get bread. The parking lot is usually full, but not packed, so it's always easy to get in, get what you need, and get out. read more

Excellent publix I always go here for lunch since I work next door at Ulta Beauty and the place is always clean and organized, the shelves are always fully stocked, the customer service has always been great . Especially at the deli Where I met Draka and Dewayne . They are very friendly ,helpful and even warmed up my cold chicken for me that I got from the cold part of the food section which was very nice for them to go out of there way , take my chicken out of its box and onto their heating oven tray since the deli does not have a microwave and give it back to me hit and delicious. Big shout out to them I know they didn't have to do that for me but it was very thoughtful and it just goes to show that Publix employees are awesome people outside if work and even inside if work and on the job . This is the preferred Publix in my area. I have two closer to my house but whenever I have the time I drive a little further to this one. Could just be bad luck at other locations but this is the only Publix that I can ever find croquetas at near my house. DELI SERVICE! The employees who have assisted me are cheerful, warm, and patient. The assistant manager of the deli is the sweetest too, although I just found out she is no longer the asst. manager. I'm a frequent shopper at this location and whenever I saw her, she always greeted me with a hello and a smile. This place has given me the best customer service I'm ever received at a grocery store. I highly suggest their sandwiches, and there's always a deal going on too. My first experience was about two years ago to date. I walked in and was looking for a specialty wheat free bread and one of the managers just so happened to be walking by and I asked him about it, and he was friendly and very helpful. I was surprised he took the time out of his day to help me. They didn't have the bread, but he said that usually whenever things like this happen, they'll find some way or another to get it to the customer. This particular Publix has been my favorite ever since they closed the one on 69th and Collins for a much needed remodeling but the end result has been bittersweet and is not to my taste. This particular Publix seems to feature the best of what the chain offers; employees who care, well stocked and clean shelves and a variety of ethnic products. Do not waste your time at the Deli. I live next to this location and have been to it once a week for the last few months for lunch and EVERY single time there is an issue. Most of the women behind the counter don't seem to know what they are doing or how to work with a sense of urgency. I usually have to wait about 5 mins to even be acknowledged. I always get attitude when ordering and there never seems to be cut meat, cheese or the bread I want. And God forbid they get some for you. When ordering a combo at my last visit I went to get my fountain drink and the diet coke was out of syrup - should be an easy fix but no one seemed to even know what I was talking about.
