It's finally here! We have been waiting for the Maryville store to open for years and it didn't disappoint. We made it to the grand opening at 7 am. There was a huge line and the first customer got to cut the ribbon and received a gift basket with a lot of Publix goodies. On the front side walk there was a tent for you to sign up for club Publix (rewards program) where you get $5 off your grocery purchase after spending $25 and you get a free canvas bag today. Speaking of bags you also get a free I love Publix Maryville tote bag while supplies last. When you enter the store there are refrigerated displays that are stocked full of the weeks specials. To the right of the entrance is customer service with Lotto. Then in the same area you have your central pick up where all your online orders are placed in one convenient place. You also have a fresh ground coffee machine that makes coffee for you for only $1.49. I am excited to see that they brought the new prototype layout with the circular Deli floating in the middle of the produce and meat department. The front side is where you order fresh made subs and salad bowls. If you don't see the sub you want, don't be shy to ask for it, because they usually can make anything. If you go to the right of the circle There is their sushi bar. The Maryville store is the first to get the new Ramen noodle soups ( they have chicken and Pork) made fresh everyday and the hot rice bowls (Orange chicken, Teriyaki chicken, Tofu, Sukiyaki Beef, and Asian style BBQ! Beef). The best now is that they have make your own Poke Bowls (you choose size, base 2 proteins, sauce and 4 toppings) and for course they have the best sushi. I saw a new Latina sushi with mango on top! Across from the deli the have an entire wall of to go food including Fresh salads, sandwiches, Italian food and so much more. Next to the sushi is the Hot case where you can get Publix meals hot and on the go. The Publix hot meals include a protein two sides and a Hawaiian roll. Publix is known for their chicken tenders and spicy chicken wings. There is so much more variety that you have to see for yourself. They also have a upstairs lounge for customers and an elevator (in case your eyes got bigger that your stomach and you bought too much food) also a outside patio is wonderful during this time of year. Inside the lounge not only has table to eat on, but couches to just relax and have a coffee with a pastry. The other side of the Deli circle has a HUGE selection of Gourmet cheeses, a cart of bulk olives. To close the circle they have their deli meats and cheeses ready to be sliced to your preference. Look for the weekly sales. The Produce is just beautiful and fresh displays, always bringing excitement of the season. The meat section is amazing and they will cut on request and order anything you don't see. The aisles are fully stocked with great choices of organic product. Being from Miami I was glad to see that they had a 8ft section of Latin items. I was really excited to see the Latin frozen food section had Hawaiian tostone, large empanada disks and even frozen breadfruit (I make a Jamaican dish with roasted breadfruit, salt fish and ackee). They even had different types of Brazilian cheese bread ( Pao de Queijo) which is gluten free and so comforting delicious. The Bakery was so exciting to have Cuban pastries like guava and cheese, coconut, plain guava and chocolate dipped elephant ears. They also had authentic Cuban bread which is really an accomplishment because of the temperature and altitude of TN. If you have had their cakes, they have the best butter creme in the nation. The beer wall is impressive and there is even 12 feet of craft beer. Not to be forgotten but the wine selection is even more extensive. The pharmacy is complete with a blood pressure machine and a drive thru. Finally they have ample cash registers, but the best is that they have 8 self check outs in an area that is spacious and clean with a Publix cashier available just for those cash registers. This is going to be Maryville's number one hang out! Welcome Publix you are loved here!

Disappointing Experience at the Alcoa, TN Walmart…read more I recently had a frustrating experience at the Alcoa, TN Walmart while trying to buy the new Flip and Sip Cirkul cup as a Mother's Day gift for my mom. I had purchased one for myself a few weeks earlier and wanted to get the same item for her. When I arrived, I checked the area where I had originally found the cup, but it was no longer there. I searched the main aisle with other Cirkul items, but there wasn't even a spot labeled for the Flip and Sip cups. I used the Walmart app, which directed me to a seasonal summer section--also incorrect. After struggling to find the product, I asked a worker who had no idea what I was talking about. I then found another employee who genuinely tried to help, but with all the confusion from the store remodel and clearly undertrained staff, he was just as lost. He reached out to a manager who told me they must be out of stock. I politely mentioned that the app showed over 11 of the color I wanted in stock, along with several others. The manager then said they must've pulled them and sent them back to the company because "11 isn't a lot." That made no sense--especially when there were only three of a different style still sitting on the shelf. He directed the employee to check the back room where items are staged for return, saying they were probably pulled that morning. When I mentioned that, as a Walmart+ member, I could still order the item for pickup, delivery, or shipping, he said it would likely be substituted or delayed. I told him I believed the item was still in the store, but he insisted they were definitely gone. Sure enough, after I finished shopping and went to check out, I spotted a display end cap with dozens of Flip and Sip Cirkul cups--in every color imaginable. The exact product they insisted wasn't in the store. I'm happy I was able to get the gift for my mom, but it was incredibly frustrating to waste over an hour searching because no one knew where things were or how to check properly. Even worse, I was misled--whether intentionally or not--which made me feel like I wasn't being taken seriously. I understand that remodels can create temporary confusion, and sometimes items truly are out of stock. But please, train your employees better and don't tell customers something is gone when it clearly isn't. It's frustrating, disrespectful, and wastes everyone's time.
