I bought cantaloupe & watermelon at Ingles and I am telling you in a blindfold test I would bet you $100 you couldn't guess what fruit it was. If anyone else has had this experience please share so people don't think I'm exaggerating. Publix's fruit bowls are so fresh & delicious! Wow. And the deli chicken is restaurant quality. I ordered a cake online and when I went to pick it up, it was not exactly what I was expecting in…read moreterms of the icing on the cake. The employee that greeted me and got the cake for me was very nice and simply said she would get her manager. When the manager came out, she asked how she could help. I explained the situation and she told me that the icing I had ordered was not the icing that I was expecting. I was kind and patient because I also work in customer service and asked if anything could be done. She said if I could come back later in the day, they could make another cake for me and I explained that I could not. I said this is just not what I was expecting. is there any other option? I explained that from ordering online, this is not what I thought I was getting and that it was hard to tell from the pictures. That's when she came back at me and said "you're accusing my team of making a mistake because you don't know how to order online and it's not our fault you don't know how to order online." That was what pushed me over the edge! No apology, no I'm so sorry this wasn't what you were expecting, nothing of the sort. No other options to make it right unless I could come back later in the day which was not an option for me. No would you like a refund? Would you like a $10 coupon off your next visit, would you like two tsmaller cakes that I have sitting here in the cooler instead with the icing you were expecting? Simply a "it's not our fault you don't know how to order online." And when I said, I didn't realize there was a difference between a fudge icing and chocolate whipped icing she said "then you should have called if you weren't sure." Apparently she is the bakery manager and her name is Sarah. And I will be speaking directly to the store manager about this. I'm not upset that I got the cake wrong, and to be fair the cake was delicious. What I am upset about is that I have a come to expect a different standard of customer service at Publix and she did not deliver. In a day and age where we have many options, we all need to keep that in mind of working in the service industry.
