I can't imagine a more negative experience with a storage unit company than we have had with Public Storage. We rented a unit for two years while our family lived in France. Aside from their price increasing more than 50% during this two years, OUR UNIT WAS ROBBED OF ABOUT $15,000 worth of high-end mountain bikes, two kayaks and gear, power tools, and furniture. Not only that, they scratched all of our remaining furniture and tabletops while stealing from the unit. We returned from France for a visit last August and everything was in order. This July, when we returned home to the US, we were unable to get into our unit upon arrival because the lock on our unit had been changed (yes, we bought the Public Storage recommended lock, originally). In the year that passed between our visits, someone had sawed off our old lock and helped themselves to the content of our unit.. and then either they, or, more likely, someone at Public Storage put a new lock on the unit (with an approved Public Storage sticker on it). When we were unable to enter the unit, we went to the front desk for help removing the lock. They said that only the regional manager would be able to do so and that they were currently doing "auctions" at other sites across the valley. We ended up having to wait five hours for the regional manager to arrive and cut-off the lock. When he cut it off and I could see that the unit had been robbed, he refused to let me use him as a witness for the police report... yes, the regional manager! He basically said that this was our problem to deal with and said we should call the police. When we did call the police, they said that this type of incident is fairly common in units like these without cameras on premises. The police woman even said that often times, the people working with or associated with the storage facilities are accomplices. Yikes! read more

Their online reservation system is great! And I love their extended hours of entry!

PUBLIC STORAGE IS A PUBLIC SCAM, STAY AWAY! I signed a rental agreement to pay $133 per month for a storage unit. Within a few months, I was notified via email that Public Storage was raising the monthly rate for my unit to $177 (33% increase!!!). Since my belongings are already in the unit, Public Storage is essentially holding me hostage -- I either have to pay their new rate, which will likely keep rising, or I can move all my stuff to a different company, which obviously isn't practical. Update #1: One of my storage units flooded, for no apparent reason, it hadn't rained and no explanation was ever determined. The flood was in August, in Salt Lake City (a desert). Some of my contents were ruined, other items had to be dried out and boxes of clothing had to be taken to the laundromat and washed and dried. It was a complete mess. Update #2: I actually have two storage units, and Public Storage has now also raised the cost of the second unit by 33% from one month to the next (from $100 to $133 monthly). In addition, the facility is old and dirty, constantly has trash on the ground and the interior of the units are filthy and rodent-infested. Don't let Public Storage lure you into a "good deal price" -- they will raise your rate significantly once you've done all the work and moved in your belongings, and it is allowable, according to the signed contract, the renter has no way of appealing, the renter's only options are to pay their new price, or move out. The "quoted price" is only good for the first month, after that, the company only has to give you a 30-day notice that they are changing your rate and there is no limit to how much they can raise it, nor how often. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH PUBLIC STORAGE, this company is fraudulent and a scam, their practices should be illegal! read more

if i could afford to move my stuff i would. therefore i am at the mercy of this business until i can move my stuff. do not rent from this business. i've been renting from them since 2018. it started at $175. in that last 5 years my rental price has gone up and i am now paying a whopping $380 a month. there have been no upgrades what so ever. i will be moving my stuff out as soon as i can afford a truck rental and can take time off work. read more

I fell into some very tough times. I was lucky to have been introduced to Shaylee. Shaylee is very helpful and gives the customer her undivided attention. Thank you so very much Shaylee, stay safe read more

I had my car in storage here for two months. It was a very easy process. The assigned unit was super spacious and an excellent deal. I made reservations through Public Storage's call center, and was contacted right away by a very helpful employee from the West Valley site. Later I spoke to Shaylee on the phone and in person. It was with some trepidation that I put my car in storage, but Shaylee was so positive and outstanding in helping me with the app, watching out for me when I arrived, showing me the unit, everything. She's like a breath of fresh air, a dear friend, and a great encourager. She helped me manage my payment options and phoned me when my payment was due. She's truly a kind and good person. She remembered me and my unit, and every conversation with her made me feel happy. My experience with this Public Storage facility was excellent. It was clean with good security, but it was so much more positive than that because of the assistance Shaylee gave. Many many thanks. read more

The manager can be bribed for a 5 star review. I guess because his boss is a douche .. they're over priced, their gate breaks on a regular basis, and it's all around trashy. WAAAAAY to expensive!! read more

I have been trying to get a hold of someone there on location and no one is ever at the office or can be reached by phone. I just moved my things out and I was just making sure that everything was good and that I had an exit voucher I wasn't like this when i first rented my unit a year ago, the manager was awesome. read more

What a nice surprise to have such great customer service at a storage facility. We've had a storage unit here for over seven years and although I'm only just writing a review for them, it's so well deserved. Doug, the manager, has always been so helpful, so professional, and so courteous. We needed some help logistically moving our 10' x 20' unit this week. He went above and beyond helping us. If you want more than somewhere to store your stuff, if you want good customer service, and more importantly staff that actually cares and wants to help out, this is the location to rent a unit at. read more

I was nothing but pleased with this Public Storage facility! I stored a car here for business and when I had to prematurely cancel my stay they canceled my account and issued a refund check! Connie helped close up my account and took care of everything! She was very helpful and even faxed my receipt to me twice! read more

The first problem was that there is an advertisement for the first month at $1 which is not the case. They will give you 50% off but not the advertised $1. The second problem is that the fee is supposed to be $49/month but they tack on mandatory insurance charge that they don't tell you about until you are ready to sign their 5 page document. The third problem is the employee Connie that was working spent way too much time telling me about her personal life. More information than I care to know. I was in a hurry to get the storage until as the truck was sitting outside but she had to spend time telling me about how her want to be daughter in law was trying to take her and her parents for what they had. The fourth problem is that I applied online which was pointless because it didn't save any time at all. Everything that I entered online was redone during the"appointment". Very dissatisfied custome read more

Needed a place to store my stuff for the summer so I went back here. Got the $1 special again. The guy working there was the same guy that was there last time and he remembered me. This also have have this new thing where you can complete all the paperwork online before you go in which saved me about 20min when I got there. read more

We rented a unit when we decided to get our house ready to sell. Everything was fine and when we moved and were between houses, we rented a larger unit to store what wouldn't fit in the apartment. They charged us a lot more after the first 6 months had passed and really charged us a lot on the two units for 2 months. We were not sure when we could move into our brand new home until the end of the month and were not sure we could actually get out of both units by the 31st. We did and the next morning (Sept.1) I called and left a message that we were out of both units and to please call me if there was a problem. No call. My husband went there that morning to sweep out the units and was still there after the office should have opened. Tried to tell them that morning we were out but no one was there even though it was after 9:30. The next day we received a bill for $3.68 (no one has told us what that was for) that my husband stopped by on the third to pay. He told Stacey, the manager, that we were totally out. She hardly acknowledged him, but did not dispute that. On the 8th, I received an email that we were late paying on the biggest unit and owed them $182 for it. I called and talked to Connie who told me we had left a lock on the unit. I asked her why she had not called me on the 1st or why Stacey had not told my husband on the 3rd and she said that they were "busy." We had the lock off later that day. Had she called me on the 1st, I would have had the lock off within an hour or two. They have now sent us to collections for a problem that could have been easily solved and that we had no idea existed. This has left us angry and feeling like they purposely are trying to cheat us. Do not go to Public Storage. read more
