Do not use this storage company. They have mice. I rented from them for 3months. I wasn't aware until I was gonna move out . The insurance is a joke. They will only pay $250 but you have to pay $100 deductible. Management isn't any help . So basically you pay for mice to poss and poop all over you stuff and do the nothing about it. No one from Management had a reaction of concern. Dead mice in the entrance of my storage unit . Dead mice in thr parking lot. I have lots of photos to show as well. Sam district Manager didn't do anything. Mindy as another Dm. And the property manager wamst any help either. If I could give negative stars I would. I have been calling for over a week because they sent me an email saying that my rate is going up (significantly) beginning September 1st. The email came from DoNotReply@publicstorage.com. I finally spoke with a property manager who was supposed to get back to me within 48 hours. I never heard back. Every time I call I press the option to leave a message for the property manager and NOBODY calls me back. I went there today. The lights were on in the office but the door was locked. I went back later in the day and it was the same. AND there is no corporate phone #. So not only can't I get somebody on the phone, I can't email them. I called Cubesmart and not only do they answer their phone, they were very courteous and professional. Stay far away from pubic storage. read more

This storage facility is one of the worst locations I have ever used it my 20 years of using storage units. Location is not maintained well, whole facility is dirty and infested with mice, standing water and leaks in several units and hallways. My requests to resolve issues such as no lighting in the unit and hallways , multiple ceiling leaks and lack of cleanliness continued to go unanswered for months. In addition the customer service is useless, rude and not helpful at all with multiple requests to solve problems with the unit and location. One of the worst experiences ever and should be inspected ASAP by the better business bureau. Stay clear and use another company. read more

I just got the storage and I have no issues with it. The size I chose was 5 x 10. It's actually very spacious for what I need it for. My only issue is that the keypad that is needed to get into the storage facility is up so high that you have to get out your car every single time so if it's raining you have to get out your car. If it's snowing you have to get out your car is, a creep or somebody is next to you you have to get out your car. They need to lower them so you can still stay in your car put in your pen and leave that is my only issue. Everything else was great. The staff was great. read more

I shopped several storage places for a short term storage unit while i am in the process of moving. Public Storage was easy to deal with without the ridiculous terms and fees required at the other places. $18.00 for a lock?? Required? 1$ for first month is different than free second month. I am SO disappointed with the poor customer service and lack of professionalism by this facility and it's management. I made a reservation over the phone with customer service for a 7.5 x 10 storage unit. They told me that the manager from the North Brunswick location would be giving me a call to confirm my reservation. This was for the first month for $1 special they had. *Note: I only needed the space for one month and specifically asked the customer service who made my reservation, to find the nearest location to me (in Bridgewater) that had units available at this rate. He told me there were in fact 2 units available for this special, both at the same location and that no other location within 30 miles had any units available with this $1 move in special. Sierra, the manager at North Brunswick, called me Wednesday afternoon to go over my reservation and to set up a time for me to come and move my stuff in. I requested the bottom unit and confirmed the move in time for Saturday morning at 9:30am. I arrived on Sat morning and was told by Salina, another manager, that there were no units available in the size I asked for. She asked to see proof of my reservation and asked who I spoke to. I showed her my email confirming the unit at the special move in rate and played for her the voicemail message from Sierra, calling to confirm the unit. Salina informed me that Sierra was "new" and began to verbally bash her by saying that she didn't know what she was doing and should never have made my reservation. She also complained that the company had different managers covering for each other and that it was actually her last day with the company because she was moving to another state. She continued to tell me there was nothing she could do to help me. *Note: Like many people moving out of one place and into another, I had already paid to have help with moving my belonging as well as enlisted friends and family who had other obligations but sacrificed to be available to help me move. So this information was very upsetting and unacceptable. No one should be turned away without some kind of resolution. So I let Salina know that I was not at all satisfied with her response and wanted to speak to someone who could better assist me. I saw the district managers phone number listed on a sign on the counter so I stepped out to call him. His name is Gus. Melinda, the manager at the Old Bridge location, answered the phone and after quietly listening to my situation offered to call Salina to work everything out. Melinda informed me that Salina could have simply offered me the next size up and honored the $1 for the first month special. She also gave me Gus's direct phone number to call. Gus did not answer. I went back inside to speak to Salina and overhead her conversation with Melinda. Salina informed me that she could in fact give me the next unit size up since there were none the size I had originally requested but that she needed Gus's approval to honor the $1 for the first month move in special. She tried calling him as did I with no luck. He apparently does not work on weekends. I called Melinda back and explained to her that neither of us could reach him and that I needed to leave since I had been there for over an hour waiting to move in. Melinda let me know that my reservation would be saved as the $1 move in special and that if Gus didn't respond by the end of the weekend, I could call and speak to him on Monday to have everything sorted out. Salina told me that she would call me either way at the end of business day on Saturday to let me know if she had gotten ahold of Gus. I received no such call. Today is Monday and Sierra is back in the office. I called to let her know what happened over the weekend and she put me on hold to call Gus. She informed me that he had in fact given her the go ahead to approve my request to honor the $1 special for the next size up and that I could come today to move my things in. I drive down here again and she shows me the unit. It smells love urine and has a large stain on the ground. We go to another unit which is much better and much cleaner. She tells me that my reservation wasn't saved under the $1 special but instead changed to 50%off the first month. I show her my reservation confirmation email and she calls her supervisor to confirm. Sierra then tells me that her supervisor spoke with Gus and that she was told that I would have to pay the 50% off rate today (which was a $60 difference) and then when I move out in 30 days the balance would be refunded to me... I am in total disbelief. They had me come down here for the second time under false pretenses and now they expect me to pay more than what they told me over the phone for the second time???? This has absolutely been a complete and total waist of my time. SHAME ON YOU GUS!!! read more

This is one of the worst companies to deal with having waiting over a month for a call back from a district manager on a complaint I had they were unable to resolve a customer issue. This company is all about there money and not about there customers. I would have had to go back to a facility to resolve my issue and then call back to that DM. It wasn't worth the headache or my time. It's a shame they have built a system that doesn't help their customers when it is a legit complaint. Stay away from this place forsure. She was very patient, understanding, and went above and beyond to ensure I was able to not only access my unit, but came with me to ensure my unit was locked and everything was safe and secure. Resources of a national company, service of a community business There's no comparison, imo Gate with access code Insurance up to $5k on your stuff Nita is hilarious, warm, extremely helpful. Easily the best customer service of any storage place in the area. Nita answered every question I had and completely quelled my trepidation renting my first storage unit. She not only walked me through the prices and all options, but also knew exactly what size I needed based on my list of stuff to move. For a 1-BR apt, I rented a 5x10 unit. Put a tarp down for possible flooding and moisture. These units aren't climate controlled. Gaps under door and near ceiling; ventilation fans in wide halls. Carts available. Could've used a dolly :/ Even though it's on busy How Ln, Public Storage was low-key and quiet. We ran into like 5 people over the course of 3 days moving in. It's obvious that Andre and Nita, the property managers, love their jobs and their clients. I felt taken care of, assured, and overall happy to spend my money here. There are areas of improvement-- They're working on installing security cameras-- but based on my exhaustive research on the best storage places, Public appears to have every base covered. You can price and reserve units online, which is very convenient. After a tour and a comprehensive convo during my initial visit, Nita helped me make the reservation to move in a few days later. I paid on move-in day, price reasonable: $25 admin fee, $11 insurance, $1 first month, and $105 the second month (regular cost). Auto pay to avoid late payments. Moving can be stressful, and the least you need is to leave your prized possessions with competent, pleasant people in a secure place. There are a lot of factors to consider, and I hope your search for your perfect storage unit ends here. Good luck! read more

Beware of any Public Storage brand facility. None of them have cameras...interior, exterior, does not matter. There are zero cameras on site, whatsoever. Public Storage is the absolute least secure storage facility in the United States. The week of moving out, after having my belongings stored at the How Lane facility for a year and 4 months, I had over $4,000 of personal items stolen from my storage unit. Coincidentally this occurred days after notifying them I was leaving. No signs of forced entry but the lock was extremely difficult to open and it took over 10 minutes to finally unlock. That was the first sign something wasn't right because that lock has always opened quickly and smoothly. I don't doubt it was an inside job. The Public Storage on Route 1 in South Brunswick recently had a major break in reported in the news, as well. This appears to be a trend at these unsecured Public Storage locations. There is a young lesbian employee who works at the South Brunswick location but lives (yes...actually lives) at the How Lane location, which I find strange. Sometimes she fills in at this location. She is very rude and very nasty and if you have to see her face and deal with her nasty attitude, it will ruin your day. Her living on site is their reasoning of why there are no cameras when you ask why there are none. I guess having a nasty person who seemingly hates their life and certainly wouldn't care about anyone else's belongings is supposed to make me feel more secure? Again, no Public Storage brand facility has cameras or any type of security system. Store your belongings with this company at your own peril. read more

Cheapest in the area that I found. Relatively Close to major highways (Route 18, Route 1, Turnpike). The location is easy to get to. No problems ever accessing the location and all my stuff has been kept well and not damaged. Only issue is during afternoon rush hour, How Lane heading south is like a parking lot.
