We have lived in Garland 40 years; I live near the facility on Crist Road. I have both a storage unit and a trailer parked there. One night or early morning the trailer was stolen, and they were "ON IT". Called us in the middle of the night, showed my husband and GPD great video footage of how they broke into the gate and shows them driving off with the trailer. We were able to get the trailer back unharmed due to their quick action. When you call them, they answer the phone personally day or night. The prices are lower that the conglomerate chain on average as they save in the marketing area due to superior service, word of mouth keeps them full. They have a fair agreement plan, and do not try to lock you in a contract for a specific time frame. The business ethics alone are outstanding and again, I say this is a direct result of being a small business and the importance it has. I don't know this as fact, but I am sure that many times the owner has been approached to sell to a big national or even global company but chose not to. Tells you volumes right there; she cared more about her customers, her community, and city by not "selling out". Who knows how rich she could have been taking one of those deals. These are the OPITIME of people we want in our city. Virtue and common sense, turns out have real impact. Here are a few other reasons: Economic Impact Job creation: Local businesses are major employers. They often provide jobs to people in the community, helping reduce unemployment and boost local income. Money stays local: When you shop locally, more of your money stays in your community. Local business owners are more likely to spend their earnings locally, which keeps the economic cycle flowing. They tend to go the extra mile because their reputation in the community matters. Community Character and Identity Local businesses contribute to the unique charm and personality of a town or neighborhood. The mover refused to give a final quote until everything was loaded and was rude and careless, damaging my apartment during the process. He held my belongings under duress, demanding an additional $850, claiming it was a "deal." After paying, I discovered he left items at my old apartment and poorly reassembled my dresser, using my tools to fix it. A week later, he called accusing me of lying about the apartment damage, despite my photographic evidence, and offered to "fix it" so I could drop the matter, also refusing to share his name or company address. The owner, Olvin, was also rude and unprofessional, dismissing my concerns with profanity. Their conduct throughout the move was unprofessional, dishonest, and disrespectful.

Here is our story: Our family had a very disappointing experience with "Community Moving" while relocating my elderly parents closer to us in Lexington, Virginia. What was supposed to be a carefully planned move for two elderly parents instead became a stressful and chaotic experience that left us dealing with damaged belongings and days of additional work to sort through improperly packed boxes. We chose this company not only because it is owned by veterans, but because of the company's mission and values. These meant a great deal to my family. This was not a typical move. My dad is retired military and this is their 17th and final move. My parents are now both in their 80s, and the relocation was meant to bring them into a safer home where we could help care for them. Because of that, we spent a great deal of time speaking with the company beforehand about the size of the move and the need for careful handling of antiques, heirlooms, and fragile items. We also provided photos and videos of the home so the estimate could be as accurate as possible. Despite those preparations, the move itself was far more chaotic than we expected. The truck plan changed shortly before the move, and later, additional trucks and packing materials had to be acquired by the company. Packing did not match what we had discussed ahead of time. Some fragile items and antiques were packed in ways that caused damage, and several pieces of furniture and household items arrived broken, stress fractured and in poor condition. The labeling of boxes was also inconsistent, which made unpacking extremely difficult. Many boxes contained mixed items from different rooms or had little description of the room or contents, which meant nearly every box had to be opened and sorted before anything could be put away. Because of the condition of the packing and delivery, we had to spend several additional days reorganizing the house with the help of friends and family. This was particularly challenging given my parents' age and health, and it added significant stress during what was already an emotional transition. We did communicate our concerns to management and provided documentation, photos and videos of the issues we discovered during unpacking. While conversations took place, the outcome did not fully resolve the situation for our family. This review reflects our family's direct experience with this move and the condition of items as they were unpacked. Moving elderly parents and transporting a lifetime of belongings requires careful planning, clear communication, and attention to detail. Based on our experience, I would strongly recommend that anyone planning a large or complex move ask very detailed questions about packing methods, labeling procedures, and truck capacity before choosing a moving company. No wrapping, no care shown to avoid dirty shoes rolling around inside of the coats. It's a friggin' mess. And I have a nice collection of silk ties; these were all balled up and thrown in a box. My wife also cut her hand on an exposed screw, because the wall fixtures we asked to be packed had the screws left in them. I hope she doesn't need a tetanus shot.
