We've had two breakins at Public Storage and would NOT recommend them or their Customer Service.The first one occured at the Pecos and Desert Inn facility, where we had our camper parked in the locked and gated lot. But someone broke in, damaged our camper and stole items. So we moved the camper to an enclosed garage at their Charleston and Torrey Pines location, and someone BROKE INTO THE GARAGE and stole items from the camper. And again damaged it. We requested a credit towards the monthly invoice and after many, many phone calls, they sent us $25.00. Terrible facilities and Customer Service. read more

The worst experience ever! First of all, the hours are horrible. Only open until 6:00. How are working people supposed to fit this in their schedule?? The biggest problem? There are homeless people living in the units! As my daughter and I were unloading, someone walked by with a cup holder with 4 sodas and a bag of food and said "oh we have to be in our unit before six or we can't get in. (This was at 5:50 pm). One guy walked by with a gallon of milk and a loaf of bread. (Also, right before closing time) Oh yea, we weren't made aware that we had to be out by 6:00. They called the cops on us. A lady came running up asking if the cops had arrested someone that's was in his unit!. There was the same smoke alarm beeping for the whole time I rented there. Couldn't change the battery? Also it would have been nice to have a few carts available to make moving easier from the second floor. When I spoke to Lea after I moved out, she totally denied knowing there were people living in the units! What kind of security for my personal belongings was there? Fires could have been started, units robbed, etc. I would definitely NOT rent from this company again! read more

I accidentally booked a public storage at a different location canceled within one minute and they still Charged me administrative fee - even though I did self service on line and then charged me again to book at a different location - requested refund from customer service and was denied. No access after closing time - was not aware so showed up with U-Haul full and could not unload - probably was in fine print was since everything is online - missed it. This location is fine - the bad review is related to public storage company. Hard to find good customer service in 2024. read more

The S Valley View site has had an elevator that has been "Out of Service" since December 2023 and it seems they have NO intention of fixing it either ! I've seen Homeless entering the premises, and sleeping in the empty storage spaces in the building. Other people have mentioned the very same issues, and the Management ignores the complaints. Rents have gone up 30.00 per month with no good reason. I was told a manager would call me, but that was over 4 MONTHS AGO! Stay Away! read more

Making the reservation was really simple and discounted because I paid online! They texted me the gate code and directions for opening my unit. I brought my own lock but they provide a lock if you don't have one. The only downside is that the units are not in order numerically, so you have to look around a bit. I think they order them by size, not number, which can be confusing. They had a nice sized dolly, free to use and an elevator. It seemed clean enough. I got a small unit for just a few things. I had reserved my storage unit online. It was very easy. I received emails of confirmation I also received an email to go into the office to receive my gate code. When I got to the office a wonderful gentleman named Jim helped me out. He was training a new employee. Jim was able to quickly locate my online reservation. He showed me where to find my unit and the best place to park while unloading my truck. He also said to download the public storage app to give me access to the property from my cell phone. I was extremely pleased with my service with Jim and public storage. It took only 10 minutes from start to finish for everything with the online reservation. (Including Jim's service) read more

Elevator broken, far from our unit was one more elevator. Seems dirty & no one in the office to help. Then they automatically add insurance for more money that we never wanted. I can't seem to get it off my account. read more

We had the best experience in securing a storage facility for a month. Not only was the sales person on the phone very knowledgeable, but so was Stephanie. She called us within almost minutes; confirming our reservation, setting up a time to get the paperwork done and she was very through, friendly and professional. We arrived, she gave us the tour of the facility and even provided us with an alternate storage unit in event we needed to get a bigger space. We had later found out that she was fairly new! But you wouldn't know the way in which she handled herself, the knowledge and her professionalism! Would definitely recommend asking for Stephanie for any of your needs! read more

Not one to knock a business for fun, however, this particular Public Storage needs to get its act together. Few things they need to correct. We stored some commercial equipment for a couple of years in a single unit. PROBLEMS WE OBSERVED: Recently closed out the storage area. When we opened the door, the first half of the equipment was completely covered with black dirt (blacktop???). Evidently, the roll up door had not been touching the floor. When we originally rented, this was not a problem. I had go to the second floor to ask a lady that was blocking the road to move. I noticed the upstairs units were not maintained very well either, i.e. paint on the floor chipped and broken as was the paint on the walls, lots of dirt, etc. The unit rent was raised 3-4 times during our rental period. We did not notice any improvements from the time we initially rented to when we closed out our rental unit.. We removed everything from our storage area and swept the floor leaving the unit the same as when we originally rented it. Our unit was inspected before we left, however, when we received our move out receipt it partially read, "Please note your account is subject to additional fees that may be applied upon full inspection of your space vacated on 09/23/2019." When I read this and asked for a statement from the on duty manager, saying there would be no further charges, the DISTRICT MANAGER, (BRODY or BRADY), arrogantly and rudely said she (the on duty manager) could not provide that and it was unnecessary because the unit was already rented. He refused to provide what I requested. This gentleman (BRODY or BRADY) needs to brush up on his tact and diplomacy skills when dealing with the public and his customers. Additionally, if the unit had already been rented it should not have been a problem providing a statement relieving me from any additional charges. read more

Terrible. Way overpriced. They've been charging me $99 a month. I have the same size unit with Uhaul in Iowa and its $42 a month (with NO random increases and it's way cleaner and more spacious in the facility). Husband has been having health issues so we were late with a couple of payments. A couple weeks pass and they start calling you. We explained the situation and they still call. They send you emails saying they put a lien on your unit and on the website it says "Your unit is about to go to auction!" I've had other storage places that really work with you. Why would you harass people like that? As soon as I'm able, I'm pulling my stuff out and moving it all to Uhaul. read more

Normally Public Storage is a pretty good storage option but this location is a literal P of S. I have used PS for storage in the past and have had a great experience overall. This however was probably the worst experience I have ever had with a storage place ever! Short hours, old and decrepid units, sketchy homeless people hanging around and worst of all...horrible staff. Started off as a good deal but then they randomly raised the price of the unit after a few months without warning. Had to try and scramble to find another storage place to avoid an exhorbitant raise in rent. On top of that , they did some asphalt cleaning a few months in and it blew a bunch of random dust and debris particles into my unit. I came back to a storage space with a bunch of black ashy dust over everything ... it was horrible! When I asked the manager what happened he said they did a cleaning of the property and said that it was probably from the cleaning . I have never witnessed this in a storage space ever. He didn't even apologize , he just pretended like it was no big deal...it literally took me hours to clean up all the dust that was literally over everything in my space . On top of everything else, tried to charge me the full monthly amount after I tried to move all of my items at the end of the month. I moved all of my stuff out a day late ... and that was due to dealing with another stupid scenario where the UHaul people totally screwed up my truck rental. I can understand paying a late fee or prorated fee but he tried to charge me the full amount of the unit at the higher rate. Overall terrible terrible terrible experience! If u want to rent some old units with a bunch of random homeless people hanging around your storage space, staff that treats u like sh*t and randomly raises the rent and blasts random black soot into your storage space, then go for it. I found a much better and more modern storage unit a few miles away with a much bigger space at a much better price and with a much more pleasant manager. If you don't want to deal with a bunch of headaches then I would avoid this place at all costs!!! read more

This being the first time that I got a storage on my own, it was actually very easy. Not knowing what to expect or how things work, but Becky was very helpful, professional and had a great sense of humor. That she made this experience very uplifting and satisfied my needs to the fullest. Located close to Rainbow and Charleston, is the Public Storage which is an easy access, and pretty much close by on where I plan to move to, so it's very convenient. I spoke to Becky a day before, at that time I believe it was 5 PM but despite how late it was, she was willing to go all out to show me a storage. But it being 5 PM and it was raining, I didn't really feel like dragging her in the rain after a long day. So I told her I would come back the next day. Which I did and surely Becky was there to greet me and tend to put a smile on my face with her humor. What I like about Becky is that she'll make sure that you're choosing the right storage for what you're trying to move. I tried to get a 5x10 and cram a two bedroom home into a small storage. Which she kind of gave me that look as if I was crazy. Mainly saying a two bedroom home into a 5x10 storage, it's possible, but a lot of work on stacking boxes and boxes and furniture and beds. Which she convince to get a 10x10 and have a bit more room to play with. Not only that, she gave me the web special of $88 a month. Where originally it would probably cost me $100 something if I didn't do the web special. Which was perfect cause I told her I wanted to try to keep it under $100 a month. But of course, they expect you to buy insurance depending on your items. Of course my items are not expensive so I got the $11 monthly insurance, which comes out to be $99 a month. Still under $100, and with out Becky going beyond to sell me a 10x10, I probably would give this a less rating. But with her awesome customer service skills and sense of humor, making a soon to be divorced man, and doing things all by myself, she made my first experience less stressful. Five stars for Becky and thank you Public Storage. read more

This place is horrible, old and run down. They will raise your rent every 6 months without any notification. This last increase was $20.00 a month. Done, moving my furniture out to a better storage place. If I'm going to pay premium rates I might as well have a premium storage facility with premium customer service. read more

Cutstomer Service is amazing....my only concern is lack of security cameras, especually for units which are located inside. On several occassions I have run across homeless individuals on property. An although I know management does their best.....my concerns have risen now that I have an indoor unit. Most recently I witnessed three individuals speak very agressively to the Public Storage staff member and it made me angry....and scared for myself and for the staff member. Again the staff is amazing which is why I continue to rent at this location. I just feel upper management needs to take note of a potential problem. read more

Well. I'm happy to be getting all of my things out of this place soon. I've had a few bad experiences with this location. I will not ever use there services again. This is strictly based on the companies treatment of customers . In September I made my payment Online via Checking. Watched it sit in pending for 4 Days , then got threatened with auction due to "insufficient funds" ... the funds where sitting in my bank. The bank let me know the storage never applied the funds. Also I work at a bank . I'm well aware of how checking transactions work. And yes my funds where available and authorized . Despite that I was charged a lien fee , and the manager refused to waive it . Now that I'm finally moving a few days into the new month , the company refuses to let me pay just the few days I'll be occupying the unit , they want the full month. All in all I find this to be a very selfish company . I'm well aware that this is a business , but not letting me pay the pro rate for the few days I'll be there only to turn around and rent the unit once more at full price is just selfish. read more

This is a well run storage facility, and they take care of doing walk thrus and security checks routinely. I felt very safe storing my belongings here, and was very impressed with everyone in the front office! Lei was awesome! I was checked in and unloading things in under 30 minutes!
