I came to this location to get some Social Security stuff done…read more On a cold and VERY rainy Wednesday I sent my husband to this location at 11:30pm to get me a number. Then I drove from work to this SSA Location, i got there around 11:45pm. They called my number by 12:15 and I was out of there by 12:25. We first thought this was going to be a long and painful process, but it was fairly simple. I would give yourself an hour at the SSA. The person assisting was really nice and helpful. He was also very quick at getting everything into the computer system. Wednesdays they close at 12pm! SO you want to be in the BUILDING no later than 11:59! they wont let people back into the building if you step out!. They are very strict about closing time. As long as you're in the building before the door closes, they will assist you. Don't forget to check into the computer for a number

Upon entering this office, the very friendly security guard advised me that an appointment was required to enter the building and that no one would see me without one. The guard handed me a card with the number to call to make an appointment. I did not have an appointment, so I left and sat in my truck, trying to make one by phone. I dialed the number on the card the security guard gave me. I received a recorded message that they were busy and it would be many minutes before an agent could assist me. I waited, waited, and waited some more. When the waiting time hit thirty minutes. I was done, frustrated, and left, never having asked any questions about my issue. I'll try again sometime. For now, time to have lunch

Five-Star Review for Social Security Administration…read more I've had nothing but excellent experiences with Social Security. Anytime I have questions or concerns, they are addressed promptly and professionally. The staff--whether on the phone, through the 1-800 number, or in-office--are always kind, understanding, and patient. The process is straightforward, and the website is easy to navigate. Even when speaking with an attorney or judge through Social Security-related matters, I felt heard and respected. That's a rare feeling with government agencies, and it deserves recognition. A special shout-out to the Norwalk office--they go above and beyond. Overall, Social Security provides truly outstanding service. Five stars, two thumbs up, and a big round of applause!

I had a great experience with the people who ACTUALLY WORK at SSI. It went smoothly. The security…read moreguy is also nice. However, two security ladies are rude; they are middle-aged, and one appears to be in her early 60s, so please keep these disrespectful "low-class security guards" in your head. These women are so lazy that they would rather waste their breath and sound dumb than get up and unlock a bathroom. My dad and I came from the courthouse, and we were told to go to Social Security; however, we didn't know we had to book by appointment. My dad had to use the restroom, which so happened to be very close to the entrance. The one in her late 40's or 50s started whistling for about 10 seconds; we were confused at first because (why can't a decent or educated person use their words to grab someone's attention), so we walked to her desk, and she gave us attitude, asking various questions like, "Why didn't you go to the courthouse" over and over again as she is making mockery faces thinking she knows better. Keep in mind the courthouse is about a 15-minute walk and a 15-minute drive from the building, and these are the furthest apart; the library is closer to the courthouse. My point is that's enough time for someone not to be able to go. Plus, your desk is about 20 meters from the entrance. Then the 60-year-old butts her way in, basically copying her coworker, thinking she's helping HER. She does end up opening the door. Then asks me rudely if I needed to go. Like, come on, all you had to do was get your a## up. When I finally came for my appointment two weeks later, the 60-year-old was giving me a hard time again. For a different reason, now all she had to do this time was direct me, which was only a few steps to the sheet and say, "Fill this out". On my end, all I did was show my confirmation. End of story, like why they have to give people a hard time. For security guards, this attitude is utterly embarrassing even as human beings. The staff actually handling the social security can give customer service 1000 times better, says a lot about you as a person.

I was seen fairly quickly but likely due to my uncomplicated request. When I left near 12:30p, there was a line out the door with security limiting access inside due to capacity. Security kept the limit of people inside comfortable for everyone. I came at the perfect time, and recommend considering arriving before employees take their breaks for lunch. This location seems extremely busy, and long waits are likely common depending on your situation. With an ever revolving door of people coming in requesting help, employees look spent and over it. I don't blame them, but it was a little depressing once I was called. Most people waiting inside were in good spirits, but the energy of employees behind the glass were over it and again, I was gone by 12:30p. They probably get some out of pocket guests often. The welcome crew that guides and hands your numbers were in better spirits, they really do set the tone for everyone coming in. It can't be easy, so I appreciate everyone that made this experience so seamless.
