All Things Good - Condensing tankless water heater

    All Things Good

I hired this company to do the work on my house that was recommended in a home energy assessment…read morecompleted last year. Initially Alex Minaboo, the owner, came to look the job over and in that visit recommended replacing all the heating ducts in the house. He tried to sell me a heat pump system which I did not want to do since the existing furnace is only three years old. There was nothing in the home energy assessment report indicating I needed to replace the furnace or the ducts. A few weeks later, the foreman (I think that is his role) came by to assess the job, and said he did not think the ducts needed to be replaced as they were still quite new. I opted to not replace the ducts but to proceed with the air sealing of the heating system that was recommended in the home energy assessment. Alex later said the air sealing could cause a problem for the furnace, which he said was too large for this size house. He suggested that adding an additional heat register might mitigate a potential problem with rapid cycling, and I opted to do this. In the course of All Things Good sealing the heating ducts and adding the new register, the blower on the furnace stopped working. Alex deflected and denied responsibility for his company causing the problem, disparaged another company that had installed the furnace, and argued that his company could not be held responsible for damages when something breaks in an old house while they are working on it, referring me to a clause in their contract. To fix the furnace, All Things Good charged $1200.00 in labor costs (for a job that took no more than 2 hours on site) and the blower was about $700 more). I have always thought "if you break it, you fix it" and I was floored by how this was being handled, but since I do not know HVAC systems and could not in good conscience argue that I was certain the breakdown was caused by their work, I proposed we split the bill for fixing the furnace. My offer was refused. Alex then had the gall to argue he was already giving me a discount on labor costs, and threatened that if I did not pay he would put a lien on my house. I paid the bill because it was not worth my time to fight with All Things Good. I see a number of positive reviews here and at least one that is like mine. My experience was very unsatisfactory and I will certainly never use this company again.

And then it turned out that they were much busier than they said they were and they encouraged me to just do the project in January and commit tax fraud and say I had done it in December. When I finally got them to agree to an end of December date, it then turned out that they didn't have the permit in time. So then they encouraged me to break the law and let them start to work without a permit. When I said I didn't want to do anything illegal and I didn't want to proceed if it was then going to cost thousands of extra dollars because they couldn't get it done when they said they would, they then terminated the contract and said they were going to send me a bill for $800 and sue me if I didn't pay I did not have a great experience with this company

We were told the costs clearly, in advance, and the costs were very reasonable. We have an aging gas furnace (that we plan to replace with electric, but want to get a little more time out of), and it decided to work correctly while Aaron was looking at it, which made it a bit tricky for him to diagnose the issue. He told us the two things that were mostly likely causing the problem. We decided to ask him to replace the part that was mostly likely to be the failing part; but it was completely our decision, with no pressure from Aaron. He had the part in his truck, and replaced it quickly, along with the filter (which we had also asked him to replace). This was our first time calling Atlas Heating. Thanks to Aaron's excellent work, we will definitely be calling again, for future maintenance if we keep the furnace for that long, or for his help when we switch to a heat pump.

Top Level: Initial screw-up, great recovery…read more Atlas heating installed our furnace nearly 20 years ago and it has worked well until recently. We started having problems with it, so we had a technician come out to perform preventative maintenance. However, less than a week later, it died completely and I could not revive it. I called Atlas, thinking that I would be a priority for service, assuming they would stand behind their work. Instead I was told that I could not get scheduled for service until 5 days later, and the money I had spent on the maintenance was essentially forfeit, as I would receive no credit towards the repairs. Instead, I went with a different company that diagnosed and repaired the problem two days later. After the rather disappointing interaction with Atlas, the owner called and was mortified at how I was treated. She was extremely apologetic and offered to not only refund the cost of the preventative maintenance, but tried to give me even more money for the poor handling of my case. While I did accept the refund, I did not think it fair to take more money. We parted on good terms and when it comes time to replace my furnace (in the near future), Atlas will definitely be part of the process. I would leave five stars, but have to deduct one for the initial poor handling of my case.

During the estimate phase, Constantine was a breath of fresh air. Instead of pushing generic upsells, he actually "downsold" us by engineering exactly what we needed to work seamlessly with our home's downflow ducting. He was honest, straightforward, and clearly explained the system without any high-pressure sales tactics. For the installation, Mike and Diego were our crew. They arrived a little past the initial 9am window on the first day, but they worked incredibly hard and got the entire complex job done right on schedule. At the start of Day 1, I handed them a simple "homeowner's QA" list of things I wanted to check with them at the end. They were super nice, listened, and gladly accommodated every single request. The workmanship is top-notch. They perfectly sealed the exterior wall where the lineset exits, helped me get the Kumo Cloud Wi-Fi connected to my phone, and hauled away all the old debris, leaving the site spotless. As a testament to their technical skill, when I asked about the refrigerant line vacuum test, they had pulled it down to 350 microns--which is a great number and proves they don't cut corners! Pics attached of the final setup. If you want an HVAC company that is honest in the office and expert in the field, we highly recommend the Galaxy team!
