Our 45 year old septic tank has needed to be replaced for about 5 years but we were holding off and hoping to hookup to a sewer line but unfortunately our HOA ditched that option. PSTS has been nursing our old tank along as replacement would be challenging as it sits in our fully landscaped backyard in between a bocce ball court and a stone walkway. In addition the only access to the backyard was through a 40" wide garden gate and down a narrow stone walkway between a hot tub and a redwood fence. John and the crew at PSTS came up with a plan to use a 36" wide mini-excavator and lots of manpower to install a new fiberglass tank adjacent to our old cement tank then demolish the old one in place. We did not need to move out of the house and we only needed to shut off our water for a few hours. It was a bit scary watching the huge 1,500 gallon tank lifted over our fence and transported to the backyard but his crew made it look easy. They encountered an unforeseen below grade connection challenge to our existing drain field but John came up with a straight forward solution that did not require an electric lift station. It did require some additional materials and work for PTST but John did not charge us for this and they still finished the job on time and on budget. There was no damage to my house, my stone walkways, my fences, my bocce ball court, or my hot tub. There were a few small plants that needed to be sacrificed but it was well worth it for a brand new septic tank. read more

Have used this company exclusively to clear drain pipes and pump the septic tank with no complaint - we have lived in our house for over 35 years. Around Thankgiving last year an inspection of our 50+ year old redwood septic tank finally showed signs of failure sooner than later. We got a bid from PSTS and Tom's. We went with PSTS and have no regrets. They were at all times professional and responsive to our needs. It turned out that once they started placement of the new tank was more problematic than originally antisipated. Although to complete the project took weeks instead of days, they made sure the use of our septic system was never impacted. Maybe they did a good job. Maybe they didn't. Maybe they ripped me off. Maybe they didn't. Septic tanks, permits, leach fields, filters,engineered, fiberglass, plastic, aerobic, anaerobic... its complicated and you know nothing about it. And they know that you are ignorant. PSTS business model is based on what they can get away with charging. Not transparency. Not clarity. Not actual cost. Their PROPOSAL (not to be confused with an ESTIMATE-this is the distinction that suckered me) for a 2000 gallon fiberglass tank replacement was approx $19,000 total. According to Bob Villa, that's high, but still in the realm of possibilities. Of course, I got a second opinion from another company, who said that the original system was working fine but would eventually need to be upgraded in 5 years to 30 years. And the cost COULD be in the same ball park depending on what they find underground. So I went with PSTS. After the project was finished, I asked for the breakdown of actual materials and labor. The very vague breakdown was simply: $10,000 labor/permits and $10,000 materials. I didn't argue with the labor, but I did ask how much the actual septic tank was. It was approx $5700. I asked what materials the other $4000 was spent on. They refused to explain. They said I accepted the bid/proposal so they didn't have to explain and wouldn't. Apparently, if the actual cost was way less, they just get to pocket the bonus. I didn't know companies could just make up a number based on what they think they can get away with. Stupid me. So basically I'm paying $14,000 in labor and unexplained incidentals? Does this seem right? It doesn't feel right. If they charged a fair price, wouldn't they want to show me so that I would recommend them to others? If they were an honest company, wouldn't they have come up with a realistic fair bid that they could stand behind and prove? So they charge $14,000 for labor and misc materials (maybe pipes, nuts and bolts? Who knows.) Don't put yourself in that situation. It feels dirty. Don't do it. Oh if you want an itemized project estimate, you need to ask for a "T&M" ESTIMATE. They won't tell you about that either, so I am telling you. Just don't use them. read more

We highly recommend PSTS. They replaced/installed our entire old, redwood septic system in 2019. Living in Monterey county, with all their new ridiculous regulations makes getting a new legal septic system expensive no matter who installs it for you. But if you want it done right the first time & peace of mind- go with PSTS. And to my surprise PSTS services came to our rescue over a weekend recently in 2022 to snake our drains due to remodel construction back up- and con a Saturday morning within hours. read more

If you are having a leachfield installed, the is not the company to use! I got several bids, and regret that I chose this company. They broke pipes that caused my front yard to sink several months after completing the work, and only admitted it because I was there to see the broken pipe. They claimed it was fixed, then another area sank down the next month, they said it was because I buried garbage under the area they worked on - and sent me pictures of a torn tarp, saying that was the reason it did not compact right. The work, the price, not making it right, leaving pipes sticking up,very unprofessional and overall horrible service. Use ANYONE except this company. read more

I called Toms Septic for same estimate and they were out there in one day and received estimate 2 days later. This is my second experience with this company. If negative stars was an option, that would be my rating. Called PSTS to pump out our septic tank. After the pumping, they told us that the tank was shot and needed to be replaced. PSTS gave us a bid of over $11,000 for the job and charged us over $1,200 for the pump out. We called to ask a few questions and had to call several times since they did not return our call. They said they lost our paperwork. Tried to schedule the installation of the new tank but a contractor friend of ours suggested we use a small operator who we called. He showed up right away and gave us a bid of $7,000 to replace the tank. He did all the paperwork, got the County Health Department out to issue a permit and after he came out to install the new tank he first pumped out the tank again. He told us that on further inspection of the empty tank there was nothing wrong with it. It only needed a new cover. He installed the new cover and charged us only $300 for all his work. I've heard of others who have had a similar and worse experience with PSTS. I'll never call these guys again. read more

I hired PSTS to replace an old septic tank, and to fix the pipes connecting to it. The job was complicated by the facts that the site was not easily accessible with heavy equipment and that I asked them to be very careful of the trees in the vicinity of the septic tank as well as a fragile rock wall. The job is completed, and all my trees and the rock wall are intact. The work was completed rapidly, and very professionally. Several people worked on the site, all very polite and professional, but I was most pleased by the two main employees, Rod and Eduardo. These two employees are definitely a strong asset to the company. They were always on time, pleasant, communicative, and hard workers. read more

Had them pump. No issues. But they told me I needed a new tank and they would send an estimate. Six months later, no estimate. Contacted another service. They got a permit and excavated around the existing tank and could find nothing wrong with it. That second opinion cost me $1,700.00. Dunno what was going on. read more
