    One of my favorites!

I want to start with pointing out how difficult it can be to shop for shoes when you have wider than average feet. Finding something that fits is hard enough. Finding something that fits comfortably AND is fashion forward is near impossible. Or it was... As a hair stylist, I'm constantly on my feet. But I also need to look presentable. And being in San Francisco means I rack a lot of miles up on my shoes. Pskaufman's are the only shoes I have found that can accommodate 10+ hour days on my feet and make me look good doing it. I went from having one or two pair of shoes that I could bear wearing to having eight pair of Pskaufman's for every occasion. They are dynamic, stylish, and comfortable. My gratitude is endless. Thank you so much!!!

the lighting in the 'dungeon' space is unbelievable!! everything is well lit in fun colors! definitely have to see for yourself :-)

The space is equally as amazing as the handmade boots! I have 4 pair and they are the MOST COMFORTABLE boots i own. Each time I stop in I have a great time chatting with the designer Paul Kaufman (who's a legend himself) or enjoy checking out the latest artist's work in their newly opened gallery space. The shop displays the shoes in such an unique manner. it's definitely one of downtown LA's most intriguing stores. The retail space showcases the designer's cool finds and collectibles, as wells as art and accessories from around the world. Each shoe is pure GENIUS! the details alone always win me over, but the comfort is what seals the deal. The shop is new to the downtown community and I'd love to see it flourish as it is the definition of a hidden gem, located down an alley in a basement "below the floorboards" as they say I'll forever return to Pskaufman when i need a badass boot!

Paul himself is genuinely one of the most knowledgeable people cobblers I've ever met.

You will find a wide range of gifts, at very reasonable prices. Some of these items include small ceramic pieces such as vases and small dishes suitable for stashing jewelry or other trinkets, crocheted animals and artistically designed maps of cities. I have also enjoyed the handmade soaps and other lovely, fragrant body products. I have often admired the jewelry on display, made by artisans running small businesses. There are a number of very interesting pieces: a gold/silver duo-tone necklace recently caught my eye and there are a number of pieces using labradorite and other less "mainstream" stones. As someone who write people frequently via snail mail, I have come to rely on Sumi's as one of my primary supplier of cards. Regardless of when I shop, I always find something that either a) cracks me up or b) is perfect for a message to a particular friend of family member. You will also find cute stuffed animals, scarves, posters, naughty cross-stitch patterns and more. Sumi's has a gift for just about anyone. Sumi and the other staff members have been universally friendly and willing to chat about various pieces they carry in the store. If you are shopping for presents, I would highly recommend a visit.
