It feels old, anyway. They have all kinds of cool stuff being shown and performed here, and even though their prices are not cheap, it is definitely a great addition to a lovely little - rich - community. This month, it was The Wizard of Oz. I feel like I should join some membership program or something. Like Oklahoma!, The Wizard of Oz is part of Gas South's Broadway Series. It showed February 3-6, 2011. Out of the performances I've seen, The Wizard of Oz has been the most entertaining thus far. It's mainly because of the bright, colorful, and lavish costumes and sets. It also doesn't hurt that The Wizard of Oz has more well known, catchy, and classic songs ("Somewhere Over the Rainbow," "We're Off to See the Wizard," and "Ding Dong, the Witch is Dead"), uses a projector and several special effects, and a real dog for Toto. There are also some scenes in this stage production that were not in the 1939 film. The cast was excellent: Dorothy, Tin Man, Scarecrow, Lion, Wicked Witch of the West, etc. Great voices, great acting, great singing. And there were Munchkins of all shapes and sizes. You could tell the audience was really getting into it -- singing along with some songs and clapping with enthusiasm before a scene was even over. Too bad the free parking lot across from Cobb Energy Centre (which Addy C. told me about for Moulin Rouge) is now under construction. We were forced to park on-site in the deck for $6. The $6 parking fee was not as bad as getting out of the deck after the show. The traffic was so bad, it was like leaving a football game. Next thing I know I got an email with new dates. They have gotten a customer for life and I will be there every season for a show. We travel 30 miles each way and gladly do it.

At the Atlanta Lyric Theatre, we were presented a…read morebroadway caliber production on a modern stage with modern equipment and greeted by friendly faces. We drove nearly four hours to attend this production, as I've always wanted to see Next to Normal on stage. I had never heard of the Lyric, so I checked their promo materials on instagram prior to investing in the drive and cost. It was worth it. The production was outstanding, beautifully staged, and there was so so so much talent. The lighting and scenic design were modern, sleek, and minimalist. The show should have been sold out because so much talent was involved. They had concessions and friendly front of house staff. Our only complaint was that we were on the front row, and the monitor speakers were places along the apron of the stage, which blocked action center stage terribly. If you have the opportunity to see a production here, do it. You won't regret.

Excellent acoustics, comfortable design with not a bad seat in the house. Free parking in their large lot. Win-win all around. The staff was extremely patient and helpful--even when we didn't fully understand the concept after a few explanations, they encouraged us to just jump in and even walked us through a game. After that, we caught on quickly and had a blast. We were able to walk in with almost no wait, and anytime we needed a room it was less than 2 minutes. The concept is very interactive and fun--60 minutes was the perfect amount of time to explore without feeling rushed or burned out. Lockers with keys were provided, which was convenient. I understand why drinks may not be available inside given the tech and setup, but that's the only small improvement I'd note. A couple rooms had a slight odor issue, but nothing that took away from the experience. Overall, a solid 5-star experience--highly recommend for groups, families, or anyone looking for something active and different.

There are lots of different rooms to choose from and we didn't even get to try them all! This place will keep everyone excited and entertained. We had a little kid with us and he had a lot of fun (some rooms may be a little challenging but it's a blast for them nonetheless) I will be coming back for sure!
