I actually created this Yelp account just to write a review on Drama Inc. I don't work for Drama Inc and I certainly wasn't encouraged or asked to write this review but these people have literally changed my life and I feel like everyone who is interested in acting should know about this school. I have gone to three different acting schools since I moved to Atlanta 3 years ago. They have all been wonderful in their own ways but nothing has felt like a perfect match, until Drama Inc. One day I got a last minute audition that needed to be put on tape and all the places I usually go to in Atlanta were booked or not open. I emailed my agent to let her know and she suggested Drama Inc which had recently opened. I emailed them and requested a pretty early appointment, they responded that they opened an hour later but they would come and open early to accommodate me. First kudo point there. I got there the next morning and was greeted by Catherine Dyer and Jason MacDonald and was immediately impressed with how friendly and welcoming they were. We spent an hour putting my audition on tape and not once did I feel rushed or intimated. They gave me helpful adjustments and I really felt confident with my audition. They even offered to send it to my agent for me. Afterwards they invited me to their On Camera class. Up until that point, I had only done private coaching because the idea of group classes intimated me. Learning and performing in front of multiple people?! The price of group classes was literally 1/4 the price of what I paid for private coaching a month, so I figured, why not? Best decision I have ever made. It has been about 6 months now and I am still there. Every month, religiously. I also have had the honor of learning and working with not only Catherine and Jason but Scott Poythress and Claire Bronson, who own and teach at the school with Catherine and Jason. It is a family environment and atmosphere. Everyone gets along and encourages each other. A few months after attending Drama Inc my agent called me one night simply to tell me that she has noticed an improvement in my auditions and she is really impressed. Whenever I go to face to face auditions, the casting directors and other actors sing their praises of these 4 when I mention that I am a student at Drama Inc. They have seriously become my friends and family. If you look at my facebook page, I am constantly corresponding with them. They have a way of teaching without making you feel bad about your performance but they are honest with areas you can improve. They are honest and you never ever feel like they don't have your best interest at heart. They are genuine. And best of all they work hard to make sure the classroom atmosphere feels safe and comfortable for everyone. It is just extremely organic and fluid. Like I said, the decision to start training there changed my life. No exaggerating. I'm an actress but I promise I am not being dramatic lol. Anyways, thats my story. I felt compelled to write this after attending class yesterday and realizing that class alone has made tuesdays the highlight of my week. It feels really good. Really good. Not to mention, I moved to Atlanta and its been really hard to make friends, but I have here, and that feels best of all. Long winded I know, sorry guys. read more
