Pick up from Adelaide was effortless. Only 45 minutes later we were sampling some great Shiraz at Angoves. All of the wineries were great. Just let Cook or Kerry (Mrs Chook) know what you like and they will take care of the rest. We had lunch at the Barn restaurant in the McLaren Vale township. It was included and the steak was great! I loved having a local gossip with the wine makers at Kangarilla estate too. It really felt like I was a world away from the hussle of Melbourne. Tasting wine from the barrel at Danshi was a lovely way to wrap up the day. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough or the wonderful hosts. Thanks. I will be back.

Ive , unfortunately had a few tours like this in the past. You could have just got a cab and/or drive yourself around. Then you don't have to deal with the wanky guide who only has his/her best "picks" (kick backs) on the books. Chook and Mrs chook are the real deal. They love the area, they won't you to love it as much as they do. And you will. Apart from adapting the tours to your preferences, they'll ensure you get the max from each cellar door. If it's a bit busy at the time, they'll head 2 min down the road to the next, then head back. The tour, Chook and Mrs Chook, and the wonderful staff at the wineries will ensure you experience the area to the fullest. I cannot recommend enough.

It took a long time, a lot of dedicated people and a whole lot of money to get her back to Australia from Scotland. So, it's worth going to have a look. The ship was used to take the first colonist from England to South Australia. It could fit up to 300 people onboard and was one of the fastest ships to get you here. It was like a jet of ships. I wont tell you anymore of the history side of things, you can learn more about it when you go on the tour. It is a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be. Good headroom inside of the cabin areas as well. Especially in comparison to other ships I have been on. So, I think that passengers had it pretty good on this ship. What is truly amazing is looking at the construction of the ship. All the materials, design and hard work to make it such a solid structure. No wonder it lasted so long. Take note of what the tour guide tells you when s/he explains the materials and processes. What I really do want to say about The Clipper is that you have to admire the hard work of all of the volunteers in looking after this girl and restoring her. It is so important for us to learn about how Australia came to be what it is today. And this is just one part. It is truly a piece of history that I hope continues to survive for generations to admire and day dream about. What was it like travelling on this vessel to a new unknown land? One thing is for sure, the people that travelled on this boat were really brave!

It's worth climbing up to the tower just to get a better view of the beach. It's also had some lovely landscaping done around it, which makes it a great area to sit and relax, above the business of the foreshore.

Food and accommodations are included in the price. You sleep mostly outside in swags (with the Dingos) plus one night in an underground hotel in Coober Pedy. Meals are prepared on site so be expected to help cook and clean up. Beer is optional. This is a very laid back tour geared toward backpackers and other budget travelers, so don't expect any luxuries here. There is also a lot of hiking, so being in physical shape is helpful. Steve was especially helpful in Alice Springs as my hostel was overbooked and he was able to get me in at a different location. He even took us all out for kangaroo after the tour was over. If you are spending any extended time in Australia, then this tour is a must.

Firstly, the logistics: Meeting at 2:30pm was a great time of day to start the tour, meant the weather was nice and sunny for the 2.5 hour duration, and our tour guide, Karen, was friendly, knowledgeable and fun. The walk was a bit strange at first as I knew the area of Gouger Street quite well and noticed we did a full circle to our original starting point before moving on again to the second dumpling point, however perhaps this is to accommodate the street art aspect of the tour. Secondly, the street art: Karen definitely knew her stuff! All these amazing works of art that I hadn't previously noticed, or knew much about, became so much more interesting with a little background knowledge. For example, there were some little themed tiles left above street signs on brick walls, I had never seen them before! Such an eye-opener of a tour in regards to the skills of these amazing artists. Thirdly, the dumplings: The first dumpling option completely shook up everything I thought I knew about dumplings (turns out it just means filling surrounded by some sort of pastry, what a fool I was). The Russian Piroshki was delicious, involving a savoury donut dough with a warm filling, such as potato and leek or spinach and feta. Moving on, the second option was Japanese Gyoza, a fried meaty dumpling that I have eaten many times and wasn't disappointed with! The third option was two large plates of Steamed and Fried Chinese pork and cabbage dumplings. This serving really filled us up, even with the walk to the next venue. Luckily Karen informed us that at the Vietnamese venue we could choose to try the steamed buns or a Viet iced coffee if we were too full. I was told that the steamed buns were great, but I was definitely happy with my sweet iced caffeine! All in all, a good time and recommended if you want to try something different!

You will not go hungry and the walking in between venues permits digestion. Accompanying the dumpling education was an education on street art. It was interesting but I'm not sure about the fit between the two. Also, at some street art venues, it was difficult to hear our tour leader. I love the concept of doing a tour in your hometown - a staycation- and it is good value for money. I'd recommend it to others, particularly if you are a fan of street art
