The pool had broken tiles and even missing the cover plates on the ground. The gutters were falling down and there was rust everywhere. In the morning I travelled to the gym. Both treadmills were slipping and completely unusable. The kids swimming pool was dirty. My son jumped in and clouds of dirt spawned all around him. This is the beginning of summer too, it's not like it's winter. I didn't try the spa, wasn't adventurous enough. One of the storm water grills near the pool was rusted through with sharp rusted metal 1m from the pool. Seriously if my son fell in there it would be an immediate trip to the hospital for a tetnis shot.

Awesome Hotel + Experiences…read more Excellent food, lodging, tours, experiences, staff in an amazing hilltop location overlooking the water. Located at the end of the island about 1 hour from the airport. Adelaide to Kangaroo island flight is only about 30 minutes. The airport is tiny - no security check on departure. The rooms are modern, perched on the edge of the hill with panoramic views of the ocean beach and ocean below from your room or deck. Modern baths and furnishings. Note: Some rooms have very open plan showers that have no doors to the living area. Kangaroos are all over the property; and wallabies at dusk. The wildlife tour is fantastic - Koalas, Snakes, Birds, Seals, Sea lions etc. etc. You may get very lucky and find a platypus. Lots of ocean views and geological features as well... something for everyone. The lighthouse tour on the property is worthwhile with stunning views and lots of history. Sheep shearing tour on nearby farm as well along with honey tasting to keep you busy. Lots of stars at night without the city pollution to obscure them.

This was such a lucky find to take care of all our needs. They also provide transportation from the airport or Penneshaw ferry, which we used. They are located at the end of the east peninsula and as we turned into their property, we finally saw wild Kangaroos!!! There were so many! I think they like this area and feel comfortable to be in this beautiful space with tourists. This resort has cabin style units with a central reception/ dining center where breakfast and dinners are provided. The units have recently been upgraded and are simple and luxurious and clean, with all the amenities you will need. The breakfast was simple but very tasty with eggs, bacon, several types of breads, fruit, yogurt and granola or muesli. The dinners were just delicious and novel. We saw so many animals on our tour in their natural environment: kangaroos, koalas, echidnas, sea lions, fur seals, Australian turkeys, wallabies, and goanna lizards. The tour to Flinders Chase National Park was a long drive but so worth it. The Remarkable Rocks and Admiral's Rock were just beautiful. This was such a great stay, beautiful location, friendly staff and tour guides, and so many animals!! I highly recommend this resort.

Fairy penguins!!…read more Australia has a number of Little Blue Penguins colonies and the five people at PPC do nightly tours. You'll get a friendly, knowledgeable guide, a red flashlight (doesn't bother the wildlife) and a lovely walk to see these cuties. We saw plenty of penguins, learned a bunch and all our tour fees goes to protecting these lovely birds. Don't miss it!

On my most recent trip, I stayed in one of their bare-bone offerings: an upstairs non-seafront single room. It may have had a spectacular view of the rooftop, but it was what was in the room that matters and made it such good value - $65 was a steal. The room was very clean, nicely presented and appointed, and had an ensuite. The water pressure to the shower was fantastic. The bed was a little on the hard side but you get that. Staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant at the back - at which I have eaten many times before - is worth visiting for breakfast, lunch AND dinner. The seating out the front is a great place to sip a glass of wine and admire the views of the bay. Anchorage is the best accommodation in Victor Harbor, in my book. And arguably the best dining too.
