Had a full back sugaring session with the amazing Nina and had such an incredible experience. The hair on my back has always been an insecurity of mine so i decided to start shaving it. Worst mistake ever since I'm prone to breakouts on my back. Looked into different methods and realized that sugaring was a good way to get rid of the hair with less irritation while also also being more gentle on the skin. I gave sugaring a try and I'm absolutely in love. The results are amazing and my back has never felt more smooth, i could seriously never get this result with shaving. I came to get a sugar wax. The ambiance and energy of the salon was everything I needed on a Sunday! I usually frequent European Wax center for all waxing needs. At first I wasn't sure how "sugar waxing" worked and was nervous (like does it hurt more, is the wax really hot, etc). Nina was so calm, professional and experienced which made me feel right at ease! I found Gina on CL and I would say that I was a little skeptical at first because I had some bad experiences with hair services from people on there. When I emailed her, she was professional all the way. She understood my concerns and eased them. She is extremely knowledgable in hair and what kind of extensions will and won't work for your hair type. She also uses a variety of methods to suit her clients. I came to Gina after my original hair stylist moved to Miami. I was in dire need of getting my traditional sew-in removed but was nervous about having a new person remove what someone else put in. She did not chop off all of my hair during the trim like many other stylists do. I came to Gina due to this terrible experience from BRADLIEGH WORTHINGTON of Florence SC did a horrible job on a Malaysian weave. She was very nice and professional. I've been going to this shop for about 3 or 4 years off an on to support an old classmate an over all I've been satisfied until about a month ago...I went in for a partial install (which is what I normally get) brand new bundles an noticed that she now had an assistant who braids the clients hair for her to speed up the process, however the pattern that she used was circular which the stylist never used before the assistant work was not tight at all, once the assistant completed the pattern the stylist began to install my weave an stated to me "I know you don't like your wefts cut!" I responded with "that is correct" *especially since I have brand new bundles* so the process contined , once the stylist reached the top of my head she stated "she would need to cut the wefts at the top" *which is understandable* I replied with "OK ." Once the install was complete she curled it an I was on my way. I noticed my hair was shedding excessively an I couldn't understand why (brand new hair) so about 3 weeks of the shedding I decided to take the install out, I discovered that 2 bundles of my hair was cut!!! Which explains the excessive shedding!! I was very disturbed an contacted the stylist (Gina) an told her what was going on an she stated "you said I could cut the wefs"I stated "I said you could cut the top not 2 bundles of my hair!!" Luckily the person that I purchased the hair from replaced the hair for me (thankful) an I went else where an got it installed! Bottomline -a stylist that charges what she charges (275 on up) should know how to install weave w/o cutting 2 bundles of wefts, secondly she needs to go back to doing the whole process herself, I believe the assistants braid pattern is the reason she had to cut up my hair. The stylist was a good installer which is why I continued to go back but not so good on the styling, which was OK because the foundation is everything!!! *its not always about the money it's about quality work!!* read more

Unfortunately I cannot give this place a positive review. Gina was very nice, unfortunately, personality is not what I paid her for. It was expensive and I do not recommend it if you have natural hair. I have natural hair and I went to Gina's for a protective weave after reading several positive reviews of Gina's work on yelp. The weave itched so badly, I wanted to rip it out of my scalp within a week, but did not because it cost almost $300. It took 5 hours for her to put it in and 2 hours to take out ( I went to another salon to have it removed because I no longer trusted her to touch my head.) The weave did not blend in well with my natural hair at all and was not flattering. It was a full closure and was unbearably hot. Verry, very hot, like an oven on my head. It was a horrible experience that I am certain to not try again. I am giving the one star because I felt Gina did not do a good job of looking at the texture of my natural hair and giving me advice about a weave that would blend in with my hair and fit my active lifestyle. Her advice to me probably should have been not to get a weave, but then that would not have been in her best interest. . . but I would have respected her. read more
