She didn't even tell me her name or ask me mine. Or even ask if I had sensitivities and scalp problems. The lady washed my hair about three times and the scalp massage was rough and unbearable to a degree. She had very STRONG hands, uncomfortable if you aren't used to heavy scratch on your scalp. But it felt like it relaxed me I guess. No salon grade products were used on my hair... and the brand was unclear or not the actual brand used in the container. so it's unclear what they are putting in your hair. When she rolled my hair without styling product so frizz was not tamed and rollers weren't neat. So I am unsure how my hair came out bone straight. When wet the stylist comb my hair without fine tight comb from the ROOT instead of the ends and I could feel my hair snapping. Which is a big no with ethnic hair you have to detangle first with wide comb first. So the stylist did not detangle curly/ mixed ethnic hair properly. Which is shocking as this is a Dominican salon that should know how to deal with curly/ wavy hair texture. Not sure if I will go back due to lack of transparency and care around what was used on my hair. Which is a major concern.

You can also book appointments for Akashic readings or with a reiki master in their well appointed healing rooms. Upstairs, there's a simple and beautiful space for styling but at night you can find a variety of health and wellness classes to appeal to any age or background. I recently attended a class here with Woo Woo Company and was so excited to be able to meet like minded people in such a welcoming space. I had tried calling the salon the day before but didn't get an answer, so I booked a same-day morning appointment. I kept the salon updated twice that I was running slightly behind schedule. When I asked the salon owner how long the process would take, she gave me an attitude and replied, "You have long hair. Why don't we just curl it?" I agreed and showed her pictures of the loose, shiny curls I wanted. She grabbed a jar of a thick grease like product, and when I asked for something lighter, her attitude worsened. She started curling my hair, but the first piece came out with completely straight ends. I politely gave feedback and asked for looser curls. After curling another piece, she abruptly told me she couldn't help me and kicked me out of the salon. I've never experienced anything like this. Stylists are supposed to take feedback and work with their clients, not respond with hostility. This was by far the worst salon experience I've ever had. If you have any specific preferences for your hair, avoid this place--they clearly operate on a "my way or the highway" mentality.
