I came in with a lace wedding dress that was over 100 years old. The style of the time was quite poofy in front, which I wanted to downplay if possible. I was told at another alteration shop that there was nothing they could do, but decided to get a second opinion. So glad I did! The seamstress at Provo Alterations added some stitching that nicely reduced the poofiness, but still honored the character of the dress in such a way that you wouldn't think any alteration had been made. It was so expertly done, and exactly what I wanted. It turned out to be the perfect dress for me. She also altered my husband's wedding suit, and we've used her for all our sewing needs since then. Prices are very reasonable, and turnaround time fast when we've needed it. Highly recommend! read more

Follow-up to my first review regarding this business. I received a text message from the owner of Provo Alterations that apologized for my bad experience. The owner cited that they were a small family owned business and they continued with "had our seamstress been made aware of a missing button on my pant, they would have replaced it free of charge." I was encouraged to bring my pant back by and they would replace button same day. I don't have time for this back and forth. Frankly in my opinion, this should have been caught when they were performing alterations to my suit, which cost my $75 dollars approximately. I just took suit to madsen's dry cleaners in Provo to have it dry cleaned. Guess what? When I got home and took plastic off my suit to wear to church on Sunday, suit was clean AND THE MISSING BUTTON WAS REPLACED, without asking or additional charge. That's what I mean. I took my suit and two winter wool coats into be dry cleaned, spent about $60 dollars or so, and they automatically replaced the missing button on my suit pant pocket! AVOID PROVO ALTERATIONS. THEY ARE TOO EXPENSIVE AND CUSTOMER SERVICE IS POOR. read more

I went to get a shirt taken in here. It is a very billowy shirt, but I wanted it to be only medium billowy. When I entered the store, the woman who helped me said that it was impossible to take it in, that she couldn't do it. I was totally shocked because it is not a complicated job. My sister also went to get her wedding dress altered here, and left because she felt the woman was totally incompetent. They could probably do a decent job on a simple project, like hemming your pants, but I would not take your nice clothes here to be fitted. I do however appreciate the woman's honesty in letting me know she couldn't do the job. I am glad that I went elsewhere and didn't ruin my shirt. read more

I'm not one to leave a negative review on a business because I honestly try to give people the benefit of the doubt however, I felt it necessary to do so here as I was astounded by the horrible customer service I received within the past few days! I called prior to going in and got a quote for 7 pairs of women's pants (w/ different prices for jeans and slacks). The man who gave me the quote seemed very kind so I figured I'd give this place a try. I went in and the woman there told me that the price he quoted was too low & that there was too many... She'd either need to raise the price or I'd have to wait 2 weeks for the pants to be altered to get it at the price quoted (I'm guessing it was too many for her to do hence the price change...). Anyhow, I accepted the 2 week wait because I wasn't in a rush, then tried on each pant to get measurements -- mind you, I had to measure & pin the first 3-4 pants while she stood there saying "I don't know how long you want it... I just don't know." I could tell it was an inconvenience for her because apparently it was too big of an order so I didn't complain and just kept pinning them myself as she watched. When we were done (45 min. later) I walked to the front counter to pay and she tells me "I'm not responsible if anything wrong happens to them or if they are too long!" I thought it odd that she said that but figured what could go wrong with hemming... Anyhow, she looks at her calendar and reads me a date for pick up, I agreed thinking it was a 2 week wait. When I got home and pulled out the calendar, I realized it was 3 weeks away. I called her to see where the miscommunication was, she told me she was leaving the country for a week and that's why she decided to change it to 3. I asked if anyone else would be in working on alterations when she was gone... She answered there would be, but that I already agreed to 3 weeks so there was nothing I could do. She told me if I had a problem with that, I could take my pants elsewhere... And that's exactly what I did!! When I went back in to get the pants she confirmed "It doesn't matter if I said 2 weeks, you later agreed to June 3rd (3 weeks away)." In other words she knew she was wrong, she just didn't care. It wasn't her broken english either, my grandpa is a first generation immigrant from China & my dad is first generation from the south pacific so I understood her clearly. She just didn't want my business. You would think they'd love more business (which I definitely brought and could have continued bringing) but in this case, 7 pants was too much of a nuisance. SO DON'T BOTHER GOING THERE IF YOU HAVE A TON OF ALTERATIONS TO DO AT ONCE! THEY DON'T WANT YOUR BUSINESS!!! read more

Last year I took the suit I was going to wear to my wedding there and they did a fantastic job. From personal experience I know that the lady there has a really good eye for modern, slim-fitting suit alterations and I'm sure she's good at whatever else would need to be done. She's done such a good job that I've waited until I could come back to Utah to have the rest of my suits altered here. I highly recommend this place and if you look at the Google Reviews 14 out of the 15 reviewers gave it five stars. Basically it's great. read more

Had a suit to be altered. Pants were altered two inches too short - total high waters, and the suit jacket was baggy to start with and she took it in so much that my husband isn't able to button his coat closed. It looks ridiculous like it did before, only now it's too small. Her measurements were off and now that the fabric has been removed there's nothing to do but buy a new suit and start over. Those alterations cost us over 95 dollars. Huge amounts of money for a job done wrong. So sad that this happened but definitely never returning to this business. I took a pageant dress here to have a tie up back changed to a zipper. She charged me more to cut fabric off and put a zipper on the dress than what I paid for the dress to begin with. I went to try it on after alterations and it was way too small, she had cut off way too much fabric. I asked her if she could fix it and in her very broken English and a rude attitude, she told me I would have to pay almost double to make it fit again. Don't go here. They overcharge and mess up your order and then blame it on you for "miscommunication" when they are the ones causing all of the miscommunication. They are very deceitful and do not deserve your business. read more

I have been to this place several times now and I can never go anywhere else now to get my clothes altered! At some of the other alterations stores I've been to, they didn't really pay attention to detail and just altered my clothes in such a way that was fast and easy for them. But the owner here does a fantastic job doing any kind of alterations, and she pays great attention to detail. Two weeks ago, I brought in 6 shirts that I needed altered and asked if I could pick them up the next day because I had to go out of town, and she was very accommodating! She looked like she had a lot to do but she still said she'd get them done for me the next day. She didn't even charge an express charge! Most other alterations stores do. Not only that, I ended up having to pick up the shirts after closing hours because of work, and she stayed even after store closing just so that I can pick them up. The best customer service! All 6 shirts fit perfectly and I was really satisfied. Of course, all of the other clothing I had altered by her previously fit perfectly as well. She is a really sweet lady and great at her job, so I highly recommend her! read more

I have never left a bad review on a business but this did it over for me. If you have a coupon for the place don't worry about using it unless the alteration is being done in a week or more anything less than a week the coupon is not valid. Also, didn't get what I asked for and now my suit pants look terrible and fit terrible for bridal pictures with my fiancé. Very displeased. read more

Depending on whose there, they will charge you different prices. I had some pants tapered for $18, then went back a few months later and the guy told me it was $25. I told him it was cheaper before and he said that $25 had always been the price--even though I've had lots of pants done there for $18. Do an okay job. I've had multiple issues with various things I have had worked on there. I would recommend finding a different tailor. read more
