When we showed up with our daughter for day 1 of the 2nd 6 weeks, we were shocked when they said we had not enrolled. Then they lied to us and said the session was full; we had a friend call the next day and found they had room. It wasn't until after repeated calls and emails that the director (does not deserve this title) informed us it was due to our child's behavior. We were only notified once of any issues and we immediately addressed them. In addition, we asked every day how things were and were always told "good" and "fine" and were never again contacted about any behavior issues. If we had been, we would have dealt with them but the lies and deceit are so very unprofessional and unethical. We have filed a formal complaint with the BBB of Chicago and have done the same with the Village of Oak Park. Our child did love Academia and is heart broken, is this how an institution of child learning acts and behaves? Buyer beware with this place!!

Glenbard South is the smallest Glenbard, but they are an amazing school…read more I transferred there in Feb2013 and I just graduated this June. They offer a variety of classes for being such a small school. The teachers really know what they are doing and are very knowledgable on their subject. My favorite part about South is their special education program. They are a small school, and they do a great job integrating the kids into the school by having them walk the hallways to class instead of keeping all the kids hidden away in a far-off hallway. They accept special needs kids from outside of their district and can take in kids from neighboring Glenbards. Also, GBS has a variety of sports (their football team is something to brag about) and extracurriculars for kids to do, and many kids do more than one thing. I personally was on the dance team, key club, spanish club, and best buddies and had a great time on all of them. As for the kids, I'd say MOST of them are nice. It's such a small school, so there will be a lot of cliques. Coming in the middle of my Junior year was not ideal, but the kids in my grade were really welcoming and I ended up making a lot of friends that year and even more in my senior year as I got to know everyone. There are lots of active extracurriculars in a variety of fields, including some (not sports) which regularly make it to State competitions. It is a bit clique-filled, but if you went to Glencrest (as 95% of the population here did) it shouldn't be a problem, as you'll have found a group to talk to already. Even if that isn't the case, it's not that difficult to fit in with a little effort, as the many extracurriculars can help you find people with similar interests. One star off for the administration- they started off not so bad, but now they're cracking down on harmless senior pranks, eliminating traditions because there's the slightest hint of danger, and pushing kids into AP classes they aren't prepared for and not letting them drop the classes when there's a problem. The missing star's also because the college advising is mediocre at best- if you want to go to U of I or COD, you're set. If you're interested in other state schools, or a few nearby privates, they can help. Otherwise, the counselors are clueless. Overall, though, this place was a great fit for me.

It was an education that is obviously not common in our elementary schools today. No one talked about trans anything. The only person that was worthless was the school nurse. She had a great office, 2 tiny bedrooms, her own bathroom and a neat little uniform but she was useless the one time I got sick. Warned my boys NOT to marry a nurse, but they went ahead anyway. One is already divorced and the other is probably miserable!

Days were filled with meaty academics, as well as religion, patriotism, values, and family participation. The decline of IHM began the same way as it did for so many Catholic schools, as they became infected with the same fuzzy constructivist junk that has crippled public education.
