Providence cafe opened in Carlton more than one year ago. It was opened by Elena and Michael Tan (Hero Subs, Reading Room Cafe, The Grain Store). They pride them self on using the best produce from farmers market all around Victoria. Last year they had high tea every month but this year they decided to do it only on special occasions to make the occasions even more special. I was intrigue by their Chinese New Year High Tea Party ($38/pp) and quickly booked the afternoon session.
The cafe it self was simply, airy, spacious decorated with timber panel, white furnitures and shades of grey. They also have some outdoor seatings which are great for summer. I love the art work of colourful vegetables on the wall. This place is also kids friendly with plenty of pram access, change table, kids menu, high chairs and disabled toilet, they even have toys and books. Elena and Michael really understand the need of a family since they also have a kid. While we are on the topic, I'm in the middle of my research on kids friendly cafe and I'm planning to compile them into a list. This is for all the mothers out there. Stay tune!
One of my friend works in the kitchen at Providence and prior the day I have requested something to surprise my husband since my third year anniversary just a couple days before the high tea day. She apparently ask one of her talented friend to make this simple yet charming platter. My friend bring's this plate out her self at the end of our high tea. It was the perfect ending. read more
