Awesome place to visit along the canal - great view and nice decor. This place is a bit confusing to find but a pretty walk along the canal. I was greeted by friendly staff and seated as it wasn't too busy. White wine was good and managed 3 courses which were all good - starter & mains were the best. Beautiful presentation and efficient service. Delicious asparagus and egg starter, gorgeously cooked rib eye and chips and to finish a chocolate fondant which was a little dry. Would definitely return as they seem to hold interesting events. Their brunch menu also looks to die for!

There's always plenty going on at the Proud Archivist!

Type The Proud Archivist's postcode into your phone and it will lure you into a big black hole. We tried to find it on a Friday. No luck. We returned on the Saturday and, with a little more perseverance, we finally found it. Jolly glad we did as well. Loved the place so much, we came back again the very next day. It's a beautiful space, very modern, with various areas - for eating, drinking, foosball, perusing their art exhibitions, catching some comedy or even a film screening. We went along for the Out of This World Weekender in December, where we caught a bunch of super cool sci-fi movies. It was a great introduction to the venue. I'm looking forward to going back in the summer - The Proud Archivist sits along the canal and has beautiful views that I'm sure will only be improved by a spot of sunshine. Come and join us! And so you don't have to spend an age wandering the streets like we did, making sure you check out these directions... http://www.theproudarchivist.co.uk/find-us/

Really love the location as it's right off the canal so views are lovely and has a relaxed atmosphere. I went to a Yelp event here but came early with a friend for a drink on the side terrace. Nice selection of drinks alcoholic and non. I had fresh squeezed lemonade which may have been a seasonal special as it came out of a big jug with a tap (reminded me of the states). Service was friendly although not super speedy. On the terrace were benched tables which seemed a bit big for the space and quite awkward to get in and out of - apart from that the breeze in this area and spot was perfect for an after work catch up. Upstairs there was a library theme with shelves organised by colour - it was nice. I had steak and chips which hit the spot perfectly (good portions) and the steak was nice quality. The chocolate cake came with a fruity cream/sorbet and it was delicious.

Been here twice now. Long story short, love the space but hate the food, and service still needs some brushing up too. My first visit was with fellow yelper Mario R. This was around lunchtime on a Tuesday, and some sort of event for mothers with babies happened to be going on. So basically it was me, Mario, and about 15 yummy/non-yummy mummies and their babies :-) Mario went for the breakfast option with pancakes, which was decent. I ordered a flat white and the chorizo & chicken sandwich, which was terribly bland, and served with an equally unspectacular salad. But the biggest problem was at the end of the meal; our waiter was perfectly fine throughout, but charged for an extra salad. This didn't end up being a big deal, as he amended the bill, but this basically demonstrated that either he wasn't completely familiar with the menu (he told us that sandwiches come with a salad or coleslaw), or that there was a typo on the menu itself (I double checked and it said all sandwiches served with a side and coleslaw). So even though we didn't have to pay anything extra, we did have to wait quite a while for a manager to amend the bill, and we were left feeling as though we had done something wrong when we hadn't. Second visit was even more of a flop. I certainly had no plans of eating at the Proud Archivist again, but was happy to come for drinks, as it does have some lovely outdoor seating by the canal. I warned my friends not to order food here, but--surprise surprise--they did anyway. Why doesn't anyone listen to me?!! Anyway, one friend had soup which looked mediocre, and the other went for a sandwich, which seemed to be a veggie version of the one I tried on my previous visit. Wait, I take that back. Veg... and GLASS!! Yes, that's right, my poor friend bit into her sandwich only to find a piece of glass in it! We were all perplexed as to how glass could possibly wind up in food. Obviously we alerted the waitress, who proceeded to take a good look for herself (no, we weren't lying about the glass...) and after apologising, simply brought out a cookie and removed the sandwich from our bill. If I had found glass in my sandwich, I certainly would have made a bigger deal out of of it (could've potentially even taken legal action against the establishment...), but I guess my friend is nicer than me and just wanted to leave it. But I feel I must inform you all of this incident, and advise you to definitely check for glass and who knows what else if you ever choose to dine here! So you might ask, why am I awarding a somewhat generous three stars after the glass incident? I do so because I feel the Proud Archivist does have great potential to improve, and love having such an aesthetically beautiful and airy space so close to home. But Proud Archivist, for the love of god, please make sure glass is never in anyone's food ever again!

Did I tell you that I sometimes like to wander around the city bright and early? Well, today I was…read moredoing just that and it was then that I stumbled upon this branch of the small but mighty Taylor-Street-Baristas emporium. It was actually the buzz inside this place that attracted me most - dozens of dolled up city folks were patiently waiting for their lattes and cappuccinos, while soaking in the yuppy/hippy atmosphere of this space. In fact, I would go as far to say that this is a good mixture between the efficiency of Starbucks and the quirky authenticity of a coffee shops like Look Mum No Hands or St Ali. The stand-out experience for me was the bircher müsli. In fact, it was just like I love it: moist, fruity, & sweet! On the other hand, I was rather disappointed with the drip/filter coffee that they served, as it was quite bitter and off-tasting - hence only 4 stars. Overall I really like this place: there's ample seating and fantastic people-watching!

Nice and chilled vibe, not too loud, lovely friendly staff and the coffee really is something special. I'm not generally a fan of milky coffees but on a trip to oz my mrs made me try a "proper flat white" made by a friend of hers (one of the most talented and passionate baristas I've come across). It was amazing. The London versions I'd tried before had been crappy ersatz versions thereof...until I tried this place some months ago. Full bodied, creamy with just the right amount of bitterness. My regular coffee (about 3 a day on last tally) is an espresso, and i still believe that the italians can teach the worlds best hipster barista a thing or 2 about espresso (cappuccino, latté etc...) and the problem I've always had with these new-wave hipster cafs is that while they can often churn out lovely frothy milkshake-esque coffees, their espressos are disgusting, salty, up dosed/underextracted. None of that here. Nice, sharp and robust but smooth...and no saltiness.

When merchant Sir Thomas Gresham (1519-79) established it, Queen Elizabeth I (1533-1603) opened on 23 January 1571, and she granted it its 'Royal' title. The old structure had burned down twice. The current neoclassical style building was designed by Sir William Tite (1798-1873) in the 1840s. The long-term tenant was Lloyd's of London, an insurance market, for a century and a half. Now, the three-story-high, overarching glass dome provides the airy atrium with ample light, housing restaurants such as Fortnum & Mason, and high-end shops, including a Tiffany & Co. branch. Googling the oldest exchange, two answers turned up: ~ The Amsterdam Stock Exchange, founded in 1602 ~ The barter system was introduced by the Mesopotamian tribes around 6000 BC ... wondering why the London's Royal Exchange didn't make the list.

Sophia interacted with us loads and was great! The main issue was the food. We sent our order in WEEKS in advance and there were so many mistakes. Our pizzas didn't come out until after 3pm and 4 of us still didn't get the right ones. Complete disaster and the staff trying to 'fix' the issue didn't rush to come up with a solution. It's not rocket science, just make the pizzas! One of the girls said 'we did make them but we gave them to another table'...ok so then fix your mistake. When they finally made them they STILL made 1 wrong! We also had one person in the group who doesn't drink and was told she'd have mocktails instead, which ended up just being really sugary juice that she couldn't drink. It's a shame because the drag acts were great.

I haven't been at a market though for ages and haven't have any arancini for longer - so I was happily excited to see the Arancini Brothers logo when I was killing some time looking around the shops at Liverpool Street station. I immediately went up the stairs into Broadgate and was rewarded with a tiny little shop with a limited menu - stew box, salad box, or wrap. I do think they did more but I was blinded by the arancini... I really only wanted a box of 4 arancini with their lovely garlic mayo but thought I'd counteract the starch with some salad and went for the salad box. £4.50 I believe, for 4 arancini and some basic - but tasty - salad. As I went late in the day and they were going to close soon, the girl behind the counter gave me a couple extra arancini. They were as good as ever, but as it was late they were a little on the hard side. However, they were still delicious and I didn't leave a scrap of the arancini. The salad was fine - a lettuce mix, topped with shredded carrot with chickpeas, and then some jalapenos and crispy onions. I'm definitely going to be going back soon during lunch time to get some arancini done up nice and fresh, and hopefully will be able to update this to the 5 star review I know they deserve when they're on point.
