I have been coming to this nail salon for couple of years now. I noticed that the prices are going up but the quality is going way down. It's either they have new management or the workers are poorly trained or if they are trained at all. It is quite disappointing. I am paying good money for a subpar service. I got gel x here, and my technician did an alright job. They were super busy, which I should've anticipated, but I did make an appointment beforehand. I still ended up waiting around 15min for someone to start my nails. But they were very friendly and the job itself was done fine. However, they were really aggressive with my cuticles. I know I'm a little sensitive skin wise, but it hurt more than I've felt at other salons. I think I would still go back, but I just hope that they are little less aggressive about my cuticles next time. read more

I called before driving over and it seemed like it wasn't too busy. When I arrived, all 7 of the pedicure chairs were occupied though. I understand there may have been an influx of customers between the time I called and when I arrived. I was told to wait 5-10 minutes, but it ended up being more like 30 minutes. I was not happy about this. I mellowed out afterwards though. I was surprised the basic pedicure included a paraffin wax as well. Bring cash, as the service is discounted 10%. The place isn't big, so your best bet is to make an appointment before coming here. Cleanliness could also be a bit better. read more

I've been going to the salon for over a year and I've noticed a significant downward change lately. They don't post their prices, but they've gone up. It's almost $60 to get a gel fill now. The last three or four times I was told they didn't have the color I selected, so I had to pick another one. I would even accuse them of mixing colors when they run out of one. I chose a pink I have worn quite often and the color on my nails was different than on the sample and the color was different than the last time I had it on my nails. The place has been empty since before the holidays. I'm going to look for another nail salon because if they're struggling financially and can't restock their nail colors, I won't continue to go there. Disappointed.. lumpy, poorly done pedicure. At first, I felt like I was getting great service. I came as a walk in on a Saturday morning and was seen immediately. Unfortunately there was a big spill from my pedicure bin onto my shoes. But they added a hot wax treatment to make up for it, and gave me an extra long leg massage for a basic pedicure ($31). Unfortunately, the 3/5 stars ultimately came down to how my toes looked. The regular polish was lumpy, and they definitely rushed me out of there so my nails weren't even dried when I was walking out. When he placed the sandals on my foot, he knocked my big toe and messed the polish up, so I asked him to fix it but they just layered an extra glob of polish on top. I tipped as usual but I feel like I got a very sloppy job. read more

Pro top has been a Roseville favorite with a cult following for quite some time and they've earned their accolade. Every nail tech has a standard of quality and they have never missed. I come in with a photo and a vision and they make it happen. I've gotten my nails done at other highly rated salons in the area, but I always find myself coming back to pro top as the quality anywhere else is never up to standard. No bulbous uneven nails that start lifting in a week. Here you get your money's worth every time, as your nails last longer than if you were to get them done at a 'cheaper' location. read more

Lucy is the best got referred from a friend and love her work. Only thing I would work on in general is the cleanliness of the salon. Im sure a lot of salons don't sanitize the tools after each use which they should. I got a pedicure and was watching the guy next to me and they just grab the tools out of the drawer and then put them back after they use them on people which is very unsanitary and can cause infections or worse. Anything that gets reused needs to be properly cleaned and sanitized before using again on someone else. read more

I went in for a basic gel manicure on short nails. Staff was rude from the moment I walked in. They were too busy looking at their phones and talking. Stations appeared dirty and the towels were ragged and stained. Nail tech was unfriendly and rough with every step of the process. I've gotten funny bunny/bubble bath countless times at this salon and others. It's a no-fail combo. I left with oddly shaped, streaky, blotchy nails. My nail tech said she couldn't do another coat because it would be too thick. Rather than sticking around to request it be fixed, I just left knowing I'd never go back. I went home and reshaped them myself. The manicure and overall experience sucked. read more

I've had a different nail tech everytime and they all have their strengths! This time (pics attached) I did the basic pedi. The young women that worked on me did a great job perfecting my shape. I like my nails extremely short (hate the feeling of my nails rubbing on my socks) we shall see how long the gel lasts. The last time I did gel they held up great until I went to the lake about a month after I got them done, and my "long toe" finally peeled off. Which I think is great, considering I had trimmed my nails and the gel wasn't fresh. The this is my go-to location. Not a complete rip off with pricing and I've enjoyed the (#1) basic, (#3) pro-tip, (#5) collagen pedi's. Wouldn't recommend doing the actual polish, it chipped after a week and a half. I recently visited the establishment with my nieces for pedicures. We were a party of 4. The nail techs were extremely rude. They spoke in Vietnamese stating they did not want to do my "fat" nieces pedicure. Each of them tried to pawn her to the other. They went on to judge what kind of mom I am, stating "it was so easy to hand them cell phones to use while getting a pedicure". Not sure what day and age they're in but it's none of their business if I allow "my children" to use their cell while getting a pedicure. I can't imagine what they say about "non Asians". I would never visit this establishment again. To Bao-"Bobby" Yes I'm 100% sure we were there. We had appts on Monday at 3:30pm. Our total was $124. Your employees said I was too cheap to pay for the #8 pedicure. I can go on and on but I'll end it here. So disappointed in my experience today at Protop Nails. I haven't been here in over 5 years & when i saw that they had been getting good reviews for the past couple months i thought id try it out again. Big mistake. They are only getting good reviews bc they ask you when you go to pay to leave a review to receive 10% off. My nails from the front look fine but all my fingers are covered in glue & she cut me deep on my right pointer finger & i have 3 smaller cuts on both my pinkies & my left thumb. I don't leave reviews but it irritated me that I went here based on good reviews and the only reason they have good reviews is because people want discounts on their services, not because they are genuinely happy with their experience. I always love coming here. They're always able to get me in as a walk in and they are thorough, even with a basic pedi.

Disappointed So I've been coming to stop Nail for a few months and always go to my regular technician whom I've always been very happy with- but today I decided to take my mother and daughter for a mani+ pedi and I decided to just change out my polish and since my regular wasn't there I went with someone else. This was the result. After I left a nail broke on top of the sloppy job. I paid ! $15. A few hours later I decided to go back to get it fixed...my (regular) nail technician came in the afternoon and redid my nails . I paid extra to have two nails added with tip (since they broke) and ended up being charged $45. I'm disappointed in the treatment , at the very least $15 should have been deducted from my total. Also they said over the phone it was $25 for gel polish. (They also added treatment to my nail so I guess thats upcharge?) Learned lesson! Update: I'm responding to the business owner, sir I didn't receive any discount when I returned. I paid $45 to fix it her was done . First one was $15 (just regular polish) then I went back and my tech removed the polish and did gel. I paid $15 the first time and $45 the second. Thanks read more

I have gone to protop monthly for almost 3 years now. Don't get me wrong, they usually do a pretty great job and I tip very well. I always either get a fill or a full set done here. The prices are outrageous, I know every place has raised prices but I've not seen it this bad any other place I've gone. I went in yesterday for a fill, the picture below is the set I got. They tried charging me $95.00 for A FILL but so "kindly" gave me 10% off, it was still $81.00. On top of that, the service was awful. I've never had this tech before but she put the acrylic on so uneven and blotchy and t spent over two hours filing and drilling and shaping my nails. There is NO reason I should have had my appointment start at 2PM and I didn't leave until 5:30PM. AND the fact that some of my nails are completely crooked... Waste of a sunday if you ask me.
