The owner, Dan Straatsma has had my Acura SUV for over 6 years to put in an engine and transmission. He was paid in a cashiers check from my credit union (community first credit union) for $2900 of the $4500 in May of 2018 and was suppose to be paid the remaining $1600 when the job was completed in 3 months but he has failed to do so my Acura SUV. I have went to his place of business at least 30-40 times in the past 6 years to no avail.   He has been promising me my Acura Suv for over 6 years and 5 months now. Every week for 6 years and 5 mos he has been giving me one excuse after another. Sometimes he ignores my calls all together and won't even answer my calls or texts .  I have numerous text messages, voice mails messages and even agreed recorded conversation from him and myself where Dan has promising me deadlines after deadline  from my Acura being completed. Originally the completion date was supposed to be August of 2018. I have been very patient with him but I'm  tired of him playing with me my time,my money and playing with feelings and him knowing the memories of my Acura that me and my deceased daughter shared and him (Dan) keep promising deadlines that he don't go through with.  My SUV is very sentimental because my deceased daughter loved that SUV  and I promised it to her when she turned 16 but unfortunately she passed away from leukemia at the tender  age of 11 but the day before she passed away she wanted me and her mom to pick her up from Children hospital in our Acura SLX and we did but the next day she passed away 11-9-1999 . So, I promise myself that when I retired from the Sheriff Department that one day I would have my Acura remodel in honor of her (My Daughter Ja'nella ). , what sad is that Dan knows all of this and what this Acura means to me but apparently he doesn't care and my patience is wearing very thin with him.  Before i placed my Acura in his shop, I had just had gotten my Acura remodeled for over $5000 including paint job and body works redone on my Acura SLX remodel from1996 to a 1999 with under custom work done from another shop and they done a wonderful job. but now whenever I go to Dan 's shop My Acura has scratches and dents on it and the paint clear coat is peeling off and my interior in the seats has cracked and it is my opinion, it's being treated like shit; excuse my language but I don't know what else to do sir.  Can someone please help me  with this? Dan, usually does good work and he have been working on my vehicles for years before this job and I have always paid him on time. I don't know what else to do because I can't get the past 6 years and 5 mos of time back. Then when he gets mad he say things like "well if you can't wait, I can give you your money back and place your Acura outside my shop gates . But the problem with that is the Acura being rewired and modified for a 6.0 GM when it originally had a 3.2 liters. I even asked him on numerous occasions if he can't do it  just put another Acura engine and transmission inside it but be promise he could and that if he couldn't he would not have suggest it, but I can't tell because it's now 6 years and five mos later and still no Acura.  The address and phone number is listed below.  P.S. Warning he Dan is a very Good with words and usually a good do good work but 6 years and 5 mos is ridiculous on a job that was only supposed to take three months. I gave him the money April 2018. It is now August 2024 and he still making promises that is kept. I posted pictures of how my Acura look when I drove it to his shop after I had it remodeled and what it looks like today. This Acura is all I have besides memories of my deceased little girl. At this point, I don't even feel that is right that he should've charged me anything but all I know is My name is P.J.

This was to be a self-pay job and not an insurance claim. ACCURATE DETAILS BELOW: Brought truck in for a full paint job estimate on March 29th 2023. Seeing as how the truck wasn't a collectors item or candidate for a full restoration, The owner Jeff recommended a "mid range" job which consisted of removing the bed of the truck , no glass removal, no door jamb paint and no interior bed paint as I was getting a spray in liner. He gave me a ballpark estimate for the job. I agreed and said "lets do it!". He stated that he wasn't taking new clients until May and asked his scheduler to put me down for May 1st 2023. I dropped my truck off as requested on May 1st. When I got there Jeff said it would be two weeks before he could start the job. I was disappointed but figured they were busy and that I would need to be patient and give them the benefit of the doubt. After three weeks passed (figuring I'd give him a bit more that the two-week timeline he put forth), and not having the use of my truck, I called and asked if he knew when he'd be able to start. He simply responded "No, sir". Not reassurance. No explanation. No Nothing. I began to get concerned because my truck was parked out in the front lot with expensive replacement parts locked in the cab and a brand new chrome bumper in the open bed of the truck. I was concerned things might get stolen even though they have a surveilled lot. I called and asked if they would be able to bring the new chrome bumper inside so that it was not sitting out in the elements and so that it wouldn't get stolen. The woman who answered my request was very kind and assured me the bumper would taken inside that day and that they would be glad to do it. I went to check on my truck the Sunday a few days after my request and the bumper was still sitting in the bed of the truck now water logged in its box. After politely reminding them again, the bumper was brought inside a few days later. Over a month had now past since I dropped off my truck. I didn't want to be a pest and constantly call, so I didn't. I was beginning to think they probably just forgot about me or that perhaps my job was not really a priority. Maybe not big enough of a job? Maybe too small of a job? I wouldn't know because there was zero communication on Paint Pro's end. I went into the shop one more time on June 15th. I went with carpet samples as I was wanting to color match so I could install carpet myself when job was done. Had a friendly short conversation with Jeff and even talked about getting pinstripping from a guy he uses. I thought MAYBE now he would talk about starting the job. No such luck. I contacted Jeff on June23rd via text to check in. Pleasant exchange. He showed me pics of some cool smaller projects he was working on as well as him stating he dealt with a lot of "fast cash" jobs. Powdercoating, insurance work, dealer work, city work, etc. I assume my truck was not a "fast cash" job, hence not a priority. My last encounter with Paint Pro's was on July 21st. I couldn't wait any longer after almost 3 months without the use of my truck. It was a Friday. The doors were locked and I thought they were closed. I called Jeffs number and he explained they were appt. only that day but he was at the shop. Told him I was waiting outside and needed to pick up my truck. He came through the shop, got my truck from out back, put the bumper back in the bed of the truck. We parted ways. No apology. No explanation. No Nothing. Truck hadn't been touched for 3 months aside to moving it from the front parking to the back secured parking. Jeff seems like he does great work and is a seemingly friendly guy, but my experience was very frustrating and disappointing.

I could fix that unfortunately by drilling them out but at least they would work. So when I had to have a brand new, extremely expensive wheel redone due to damage in shipping I brought it to him. He proceeded to tell me how he is the ONLY certified guy in the city and how the wheel maker didn't know what they were doing when they originally powdercoated my wheels which is the only way the damage could have happened. I was very impressed and I almost wanted him to redo all the wheels, even the ones without damage. So he quoted me an outrageous price to strip and re coat the wheel and I accepted because the wheel maker was going to reimburse me. I could have just had the wheel maker send a call tag for the wheel but it was going to take about three weeks to get it back plus take chance of more damage in shipping it from the other side of the country. So I did it. I was told 2 weeks for him to start then would only take a few days. 3+ weeks in I called to see how it was going. He said he had gotten some big corporate orders in and they took priority so I wasn't started. So I waited. Finally at 8 weeks he said I was done. But when I examined the wheel it had a lot of trash in the clear. Some in places that didn't matter as it wouldn't be seen but a lot on the face of the wheel. When I complained he said that to do a perfect job it would cost a lot more and he didn't charge me for a perfect job like he would have for some shops that have Lamborghini parts done. I reminded him he charged hundreds of dollars and I agreed without haggling. He certainly didn't tell me that original quote was for a half azz job. And that I wanted the wheel as good or better that when I got the wheel in the mail. I offered to take it as is but I didn't want to pay the full price (since I was going to send it back to the manufacturer to have it corrected on my dime). He essentially said he didn't like people haggling with him and and it would affect our future business etc. So I said I would give him a chance to fix it and still pay his original amount. Just get it right. So 2 weeks later a mutual friend was in his shop and Dean talks the friend into paying for and picking up my wheel. I get the wheel and realize some of the original blemishes are still there plus some new ones. The wheel is a lighter metallic color. Now I have a few black specks in the finish on top of the trash that was there before. Some of the trash spots on the face of the wheel look to have been fixed but not all gone. So I now see he just didn't want a detail oriented customer picking up the wheel and complaining again. Which is a coward move in my opinion. I guess lesson learned. If you want back yard furniture recoated maybe these guys are ok. But if you want a good job done on a expensive part (wheels were hundreds and hundreds of dollars) then you better find someone else.

Like you I was hesitant because of some of the older reviews but trusted my people and man did it pay off. My Z06 previously had the wheels painted prior to me purchasing which I was unaware of until about 6 months of owning the car the poor quality started to show and the old chrome finish started to peak through. Made an appointment and it took a few days to get the car back but it was 1000% worth it. The wheels look brand new and actually ride smoother after they balanced the tires. Lugs were all torqued correctly and I couldn't be more pleased. I never post reviews unless it is bad enough for a lawsuit or good enough of an experience to justify letting others know how great of a job they are capable of. Plus they saved me about 4k not having to buy forged wheels which was the other option I was contemplating.
